@@wranglerstar Could just run a chain between the wheels. I've seen that done. Between the two I'd think it would be safe. LPL shows us how easy it is to defeat a cable lock. Between the two I'd think it would be left alone.
I have a similar lock for my snowmobile trailer. One thing that I do (and was recommended by the manufacturer) that I think would work in your case too is to hook the safety chains BEFORE putting it into the ball hitch and then twist that piece a couple of times to take the slack up on the safety chains, then attach it. The chains will now be tighter and not hang as low and make it tougher for someone to just connect some chains to your dangling chains. Try it out... curious if it works with that design hitch and lock.
I know what you mean. That lock is so handsome, it gave me the fizz like I’ve never had before in my life. I’m not even kidding. The fizz was so good my whole family needed a cigarette, and none of them even smoke. I can’t believe how handsome that lock is. Omg I just fizzed all over myself again.
I enjoy LPL's videos, I think his whole thing is to hold manufacturers accountable and try to keep them upping their game. Like you said, if an opportunist comes along and wants your stuff they'll get it one way or another but it's on us to make it as difficult as possible for them
For anyone who knows or knows someone who's handy with a welder, you can also make your own version of this pretty easily, and the company sells the puck-locks individually for waaaay cheaper, if you want to save some money or want to make sure it fits really nicely on your trailer.
I love you brother! My family and I are very supportive of you as we are absolutely like minded and we watch you in your life endeavors. May the Lord bring you peace and blessing, keep the faith brother ❤
That's impossible, they have way too different voices, and recently the lpl did a video where the lock was shiny and he was wearing a mask that covered the top half of his face, and he doesn't have a beard :v It's a good pitch though
I can tell you from historical experience that you should NOT trust him on any video he posts on 4/1 of any year. Have you considered putting any kind of boot on the wheels in addition to the fancy lock on the tongue?
Love LPL, Bosnian Bill and LockNoob, When I quit drinking, I took up lock sport as a hobby and they have really helped me progress through security levels. More fun, challenging and engaging than video games.
Hahahah duuude that just happened to me last week. My padlock with a weird core maybe jammed idk and i couldn't open with its own key. I had to break it apart using Lpl's wrench technique lmao so ironic
i think a wheel lock would be pretty useful for a trailer as well. it doesnt take a whole lot to drag a trailer away somewhere safe, but if the wheels arnt turning, it get way harder
I found silicone orings with a 0.104" cross section cut to length to replace the last top spring makes locks unbumpable and unlockable as it's impossible to lift the last pin to the shear line. And no bump key could bounce the top pin up above the shear line.
1:10 Excellent point. In network security we refer to the most talented men of resolve _(plural_ _as_ _it_ _is_ _often_ _a_ _group)_ as an Advanced Persistent Threat. They have the knowledge, they have the skill, they have the time, they have the resources, but most importantly they have the intent that is focused on a specific target.
I always go the "3 barrier" way. Put up 3 barriers to your stuff and people will usually quit by the second one. A big or heavy obstruction. A lock. An alarm.
The one thing I always remember from an old friend that did alot of not so legal stuff is.. Your stuff is never secured enought to prevent theft. But it can be more secure than the car/bike/trailer next to it. And that is how you get to keep your stuff...
Idk about all electric jacks but mine have a manual override at the top that uses a very generic tool. I would assume all of them have some variation of that in case the battery is dead.
Also, tying a trip wire between the back of the trailer and the pin of a flashbang mounted to a tree or post isn't a bad idea... if they try to move the trailer, they're both deaf and scared shitless...

immediately when the quality steel started to ring i was thinking to myself "wow thats a pleasant sound" and Cody mentions the same thing 2 seconds later lol truly fizz worthy
A more secure thing to do with the chains would be to simply make them removable with hooks on ether side. Right now you essentially just made the would be thieves a great lasoe to throw over their ball or pintel hitch.
That was the first thing I saw. Just back up and throw those very secure chains over the ball and gone! Great idea to remove the chains all together. The lock it self looks great just need to get rid of that slack or your helping them more then protecting your property.
Hey Cody! Just an observation, the safety chains are bolted to the hitch. If unbolted, the length is almost restored. Maybe the spot weld suggestion applies here?
5:45 100% true. I built Sure-Trac trailers for a few years. We take a lot of pride in our quality, and I've seen some trailers where they arent welded on. In our case, theyre fully welded on, so nobody is going to be removing it without a freaking plasma cutter lol
Why do you feel the need to type your name at the end of your comment when it literally says your name right before the comment. Sorry, just seemed a little weird.
As an extra safe gaurd run a heavy motorcycle chain and lock through the trailer wheels. I'm also a fan of the Lock Picking Lawer and have really upped my lock game since I found him lots of puck locks.
I go for multiple layers on our trailer. Hitch lock, hitch latch lock, I lock the chains around the jack crank so it can't turn to raise or lower the jack plus that secures the chains from easily being used. I also throw a tire claw on one tire. edit: Thank you for the good review, that looks like a sweet lock!
If you want to make sure no one steal your trailer, on top of this lock, bring your battery operated impact wrench and wood blocs. then jack up your trailer and remove all the wheels. No burglar would take your trailer, unless he brings a set a wheels for your trailer.. This is what I do with my equipment (trailers, snowblower, boat trailer). So far none of them have been stolen, even with a regular Master padlock to lock the hitch...

Question, i dont know anything about trailers: can someone still tow that trailer from pulling through the dangling looping chains? Would it be better if you can hide all parts of the chains inside the lock cylinder thing?
@@beauherron4258 they wouldn't fit... A hitch lock will deter random drive up theft, and a good one like this will deter the average guy who would just pry off a generic hardware store hitch lock, above that you become a targeted crime, your trailer will be scouted and a method determined to get it. There's no use worrying about the small details, deter the 99% and that's as far as you can reasonable go. There's always another way to attach something and tow unconventionally, but at that point what is being taken? Besides a brand new bobcat or piece of desireable construction equipment nothing is that high of a target.
I've been a locksmith for 20 years and locks keep honest people out. Yeah some locks are harder to pick than others but the weak point in just about every lock is the cylinder.
To solve the "Dangle-chain Dilemma", simply wrap them over the top before hooking them into the underside of the lock's ball insert. ELI5: The driver's side chain should be long enough to pass over the top of the coupler's release lever, and then enter the passenger's side of the lock, hooking around the vertical post that goes up into the the ball joint. Vice versa with the passenger's chain. You might think that this will hinder the coupler release lever's movement too much, but the way this lock is designed, the couple lever should have enough movement during assembly the be able to flip down and secure the lower part of the lock. Don't go all crazy and think that you can wrap the driver's side chain all the way over the top and then hook it into the driver's side of the lock, cause it looks like it should work, but ten minutes of trying desperately to get the lock pushed together far enough to engage the puck lock will only serve to make you look and feel silly.
@@bruhmoment3478 It's been a while since I've come across this channel, but I think that's why I unsubbed and ultimately clicked "Don't recommend channel" a while back.
"All they gota do is shorten them ...throw them around a ball" **proceeds to install a lock that shortens the chains to the perfect length to hook over a ball**
Or a shorter truck with a drop hitch and the ball installed upside down. Quick trip to Walmart at 11pm and a big wrench and you can steal it regardless of your trucks height. But like he said, the vast majority of people who steal stuff are just looking for the easiest thing to steal and wouldn't go through any extra effort. He said keep honest people honest, I prefer to think of it as keeping lazy people honest. And most thieves are lazy.
You should have some way of disconnecting the safety chain and removing it, then you would be good to go with that setup, with that safety chain exposed, your trailer is still compromised
Cody, you could always twist up your chains like you taught Jack recently before slipping them into the lock. The shorter loops would be more difficult to connect anything to.

Cody, do what we do at our motorcycle club. You can't steal what you can't move. Take a jackstand with you and remove the wheels from one side of the trailer.
That is hard core,
Just disassemble the entire trailer. You can't steal what doesn't exist!
Where do you guys leave your trailer???? Hahaha

@@wranglerstar Could just run a chain between the wheels. I've seen that done. Between the two I'd think it would be safe. LPL shows us how easy it is to defeat a cable lock. Between the two I'd think it would be left alone.
Option 1: Unscrew safety chains, install new one, take trailer.
Option 2: load trailer on a trailer brought with you.

Took him longer to figure out the key than it takes LPL to pick most locks lol
That's how you know it's a good lock. If it's difficult to open with the key, imagine how difficult it is to open without the key.
For anyone who knows or knows someone who's handy with a welder, you can also make your own version of this pretty easily, and the company sells the puck-locks individually for waaaay cheaper, if you want to save some money or want to make sure it fits really nicely on your trailer.

I thank you for after all these years, for pronouncing Al correctly, first American I've heard it from
LPL has great content, I re-keyed a set of entry locks with his instructions to make them bump and pic resistant.
I found silicone orings with a 0.104" cross section cut to length to replace the last top spring makes locks unbumpable and unlockable as it's impossible to lift the last pin to the shear line. And no bump key could bounce the top pin up above the shear line.

Could you wrap the chain around the jack before putting it into the "lock chamber" so it would not just be hanging there?
Question, i dont know anything about trailers: can someone still tow that trailer from pulling through the dangling looping chains? Would it be better if you can hide all parts of the chains inside the lock cylinder thing?
Yes. As mentioned it is not as easy as just hooking the chain hook to a truck. Now a thief would have to have their own set of chains.
@@volvo09 I second that. More you can do than that, is have this stuff insured.
