    I mentioned on Harry's channel before that this is a great lock, but it's a double edged sword. By using a visibly nice lock on a covered trailer, it makes it appear you have something very valuable inside that is worth the effort. Be sure to reinforce the trailer door locks as well, cuz those have now become the weak point.

    • @davedavenport8176
      @davedavenport8176 3 года назад +19

      Well your statement has a whole lot of validity to it. And not just for trailers. I do agree that you definitely want to beef up the door and lock on the door.
      With that said the same thoughts can be applied to a storage locker. I once had a unit broke into that they came through the top. Then un screwed a panel from the inside of my unit into an empty unit.
      It was discussed that my lock 🔐 that was a very heavy duty Master lock that had a high security rating because of false pins was what drew attention to my unit. I had four unit’s with them all connected. So all 4 doors had the same type of master lock.

    I have a similar lock for my snowmobile trailer. One thing that I do (and was recommended by the manufacturer) that I think would work in your case too is to hook the safety chains BEFORE putting it into the ball hitch and then twist that piece a couple of times to take the slack up on the safety chains, then attach it. The chains will now be tighter and not hang as low and make it tougher for someone to just connect some chains to your dangling chains. Try it out... curious if it works with that design hitch and lock.

    I also sometimes do lockpicking, it is more a sport than a real art of burglary, often in real life it takes hours to become familiar with a new lock, it takes the tool of the right shape and thickness, tests .. then when you know that lock well, 5 minutes are enough to open it.
    LpL is a real enthusiast and I like him very much but you always have to remember one thing about youtube: it's all about entertainment.

    Cody be careful showing keys online. People can screen shot and make a copy

      Yeah Cody you might wanna blur that if you get recognised somewhat frequently, not 100% on that type of key but others could be cloned from seeing it in a video

      He did not show it well enough, I was only able to make a 20% copy

    I'd be very interested to see how this lock stands up to a prying attack. The pin that holds the puck to the hardened shackle didn't look that beefy. But as it's close to the ground i guess you couldn't get a big lever bar on there.

    Can he be trusted? Yes if he isn't trying to pick your house locks

    DO NOT POST PICTURES OR VIDEO OF YOUR KEYS! I haven’t seen anyone else mention this yet so I’m going to hope Cody sees this. There are a few videos on RUclips where dudes took intentionally bad pics of a key and was able to make a working key off of the pic using hand tools (Deviant Olllam talked about it on a defcon presentation if I remember correctly and the Modern Rogue did one as well). If you want a real good example look up how people discovered the cut depths on TSA master keys for luggage locks, most of them were cracked off of pictures alone. Now I will admit that lock Cody is using has an Abloy core which has pretty tight tolerances and is not easily defeated with low skill, non-destructive attacks but even a amateur lock picker like myself could make a working key with a little time and the footage in this video.

    An alloy lock can be burnt off quite quickly I have had dozens of trailers and have always used a hitch lock and a heavy duty wheel clamp using just a hitch lock give thieves the chance to just throw chain around hitch and tow it they only have to move a short distance out of sight then empty it into something else a pickup or another trailer it’s a well known thing here in uk

    Just close your ballhitch on a live grenade... thief releases the latch, pineapple drops on his toes, and a second later you'll hear the report telling you to reset your alarm with a fresh pineapple.

    Why in the world do you use titles like this?
