The Buddha liked to compare the training of the mind to taming a wild animal, often an elephant! But unlike the taming of a wild animal, the taming of the mind is _really_ difficult!
How much experience do you have in taming wild animals? I worked with circus animals and their tamers. The isn't anything easy about it. You are actually more capable of taming your own mind rather than somebody else's mind.
@@TheDhammaHub I never trust any animal to be 100% tame. This is fundamental to many arguments in favor of saving some species while conveniently forgetting about others.
@@0tolerance583 Well, even then, it is a metaphor and does not match reality 100%. Of course, many aspects differ when it comes to taming mind or animals - it is not meant to be perfect. It is meant to give people an intuition
I felt this way my whole life. If a monkey throws crap on you and you throw it back that makes you a dumb animal to. I have always tried to just clean up and keep moving. Thank you. Stay blessed my friend and all who read.
Hey you, don't get disheartened, I know you are willing to put in your best efforts. School education doesn't define your future, great things come from those who go beyond limits! Things will get better accordingly. God considers your massive efforts, he consider your late nights, and yes consider your early mornings too! Just keep putting your good work. Keep going buddy. I am cheering for you. Blessings, from a new you tuber.
A good lesson in patience. Don't forget the secondary lesson that life would be miserable and chaotic without the rogue elephant. Be grateful for the ambitious people who take care of the problems that others choose to ignore.
Thank you. The rogue elephant although appears villainous, is sort of a heroic savior. The kind and innocent one trained the dumb monkeys to jump to their death. It's really passive aggressive, or codependent on the naturally aggressive and blindly cruel behaviors of nature.
Fighting fire with fire only works when the whole world is burning In every other case, water works best "I wear the chains I forged in life" Jacob Marley's ghost
The evil monkeys would not have been punished without someone fulfilling the role of a rogue elephant. Was the rogue elephant evil for defending himself?
They would be punished eventually because karma does exist. If not by the rogue elephant, then it would be by another cause. And yes, the rogue elephant sow his bad karma by doing such thing. That's why we Buddhists are always told not to counter bad deeds with bad deeds, but with love and compassion.
How would this apply to the Holocaust? Had the allied forces did not sacrificed their lives to stop the genocide, I would not have lived to hear this wonderful tale
" but his relatives are wicked, and tried to plot to rob him" welp, sounds like my "family" and tried to deceive me from all of my earnings...but I am not giving in, I know that I will one day get what they have been hiding for years. 😂
Karma...is what this story is explaining. If you, after being abused, see no karma, They tell you it WILL be, in the next life. But in this life, you see no justice. Here and now, was the offence. Why not here and now, The karma? Was the offence, your karma from earlier, even from your past life? Because you are taught this, it does not make it so. "Believe nothing. No matter who tells you. Not even what I tell you. Unless it agrees in your head AND in your heart." So tell me...who said that? Here I say, is karma fair, or not so? Should justice be seen to be done? Or trusted, to be done. In life, justice not seen...can encourage the offence, again and again by the perpetrator. And even by the victim returning the compliment. And so I leave you with a meditational lesson for TRUE enlightenment. No need to thank me. ☺️
This story is really good. But my opinion is quit different that if you are able to defend or to punish such evils then you have to do because if you never punish them and another time they trouble any helpless , poor and weak person then they can harm that persons life if he is unable to defend
I'm confused, did Buddha really said this? I get it that we need to have pure heart and we should not throw stones at those who throw at us...But how is the injustice punished? Isn't fighting against injustice our right??? We can fight injustice without losing our character, right?

@@0tolerance583 Lets put it like that, I see quite a few tamed animals but practically no enlightened people^^
