Easy Noodleless Tanmen Recipe | Dinner Diary

  • Tanmen is Japanese noodle dish similar to ramen. It's easy and healthier than ramen because it contains much vegetable. Of course using noodles is tasty but noodleless tanmen is also good.
    This is very simple recipe. Enjoy!

    I like my vegetables too Satoshi, and this is a nice alternative to noodles. Either way it looked so delicious.

    This is a brilliant recipe. I don't think I've seen mizuna here before. The Google called it Japanese mustard greens, and spider mustard. I bet it would grow nicely here in Northern California. I think I'll try it. We have mustard growing wild all over where I come from in Sanoma county. They say the Spanish brought it when they built the missions.

      Mizuna does indeed grow well in CA - I have relatives living in Orange County and they grow it there. Check out Kitazawa Seed Company online - they sell seeds for mizuna and other Asian vegetables there. I recommend getting shiso, too!

    Your ideas are so innovative! Mizuna is tough to get here. Will have to use squash, bean sprouts, or enoki.

    Looks perfect for nutrition. I don't eat pork, so I will make it without the pork but I will add some other kinds of mushrooms besides the wood-ear to add more umami. It does look like a good bowl of comfort food! Yum! Thank you for posting this!

    My son and his girlfriend would love this. I'd try it, but I'm not much of a vegetable person. Who knows I may like it. I enjoy watching Midnight Diner and the recipes at the end of each episode.

    Hi Satoshi, thanks for another great video and for another recipe for me to try. What you made looks really tasty and healthy. I’ve been trying to be more careful about what I eat, so I’m looking for more ways to incorporate more vegetables in my meals. I also have watched the show midnight diner and really enjoyed it. The food always looks so good. Maybe you could make some other dishes from the show as well.

    Never thought about replacing the noodles with mizuna :) I guessed it would be bean sprouts that replaced the noodles hahaha It looks delicious!

    Just rewatching Midnight Diner for the third or fourth time. Your interpretation of this dish looks really good, I like healthier versions anyway. I can get everything except for the mizuna here but maybe I can figure out another noodle-shaped veggie.

    水菜を麺の代わりにとは斬新ですねΣ(゚ロ゚;)
    よく大根麺は作りますが、水菜は考えもつきませんでした…美味しそう😋
    I often use daikon noodles, but never thought of using mizuna as noodles...looks yum yum 😋
