native new yorker here: the peanut butter/bacon burger is definitely real, as well as the shandy. the peanut butter will come on the side, as well as some pickles (definitely makes it better). not sure what went wrong with this location, but it's definitely available at most shake shacks i've been to.
What went wrong was the people manning the window. It's that simple.
Well big red flag is they went to the madison square park location. That is not a spot for trying secret menu items since its outside and literally limited items. They need to go to an actual in-building shake shack like on 86th st to get secret menu items

They aren't really secret menu items, more like regional limited time items.
They need to go somewhere that has bigger storage, and not run out of ingredients bcs these 'secret menu' items are using stuff from their other listed items. If theyre out of PB shakes then obv they wont have PB to make PB & B's. Then again, afaik, they've removed peanut butter for allergen reasons.
This was a fun video, but as I've seen you two struggle to take bites of thick food or share bites, might I suggest bringing a knife and maybe a fork to divide the food to make it easier for consumption? That way, you each get half. 😊

Another native NY-er here ... All of those secret items DO exist. But not all Shake Shack's serve them. They should've just gone to a few and asked around. They definitely would've hit the jackpot.

So my grandpa who is Filipino would put ice cream into sweet bread rolls called pandesal! For the longest time I thought that is what a ice cream sandwich was. Till I tried an actual ice cream sandwich and was sad 🤣

NGL< your version of an ice cream sandwhich sounds MUCH tastier then the sticky Oreo chocolate wafer-bread thing, and the foamy-weird ice cream used in them, most commonly (like Why TF is it SO FOAMY???!!!!) - because REAL ice cream doesn't do that...
@Twilyhtmist Filipino "ice cream sandwich " is the best. I ate that growing up. It's even more fun coz we get to put whatever flavor ice cream we want.
I grew up in Northern California so I grew up with a lot of Filipinos, Pandesal and Pan de coco is amazing. I always found it so crazy how a lot of Filipino dishes would have the same names as a lot of Mexican dishes but would be completely different, but that's because of the shared roots
In the Philippines we always do that ice cream on bread. It is even more delicious if you use the filipino bread pandesal. Perfect for summer afternoons.
Carbs on carbs pretty much always works. Surprisingly less sweet bread seems to work better than using a brioche or pandesal. Though obviously those are delicious as well. The important part is to not use a hard bread, as that just makes the ice cream squeeze out the sides as you try to bite into it. ;)
We have the same thing in Msia too! It’s basically a frozen chunk of ice cream in almost hotdog type bread.

You can’t just ask for the secret menu item because they’re so secret that shake shack themselves don’t know about it. What you need to do is order the things in a certain way and put them together yourself……When ordering the beer of your choice, ask if they can fill part of the glass with lemonade to make a Shandy.
For your peanut butter bacon sandwich, ask for a side of peanut butter spread when you order a ShackBurger with added bacon. Add the PB sauce yourself and change your life forever.
Order a frozen custard and ask for a side of grilled hamburger buns, for an ice cream sandwich.
Ask for chopped sport peppers to be added into your Cheese Fries, for sport pepper cheese fries.
So true. I worked at McDonald's and didn't know about a secret menu until someone came in to ask for it. They described it and I made it happen though.

you can't ask for a secret menu item because there is no secret menu clown. all these items are real items just limited. they only have them for a limited time before it's gone. the peanut butter burger is one of them. they also did a korean burger and a truffle burger at some point.

Ice cream and bread sandwiches are pretty common in south east asia. It works so well together

Well, considering the cone is made out of the the same basic ingredients of bread. It does work. If the ice cream is too sweet or you have a sensitive tooth, bread is the life.

Back in 2008, my office was across the street from the original shakeshack, back when it was the only one. I made sure I was the first on line at 10:45 AM, 15 minutes before it opened. Those days, the line was a 2+ hour wait.

I made the mistake of watching this on my lunch break. I had just taken a bite of food when the Nord VPN ad came on and almost had a disaster. I don't know which is more embarrassing at work: spitting out your big mac taco or having it come through your nose, but both of those things were a very real possibility.

I remember visiting NYC from Sweden in 07 and 08 and eating at the original Madison location and have somewhat of religious experience. We did not have anything close to it back home and even my mother who was in her fifties at the time was blown away by the burgers. We were among the first but needed to wait 20-25 minutes due to the amount of orders everyone made. Ahh lovely memories.

Yeah, I think only some locations (no matter the fast food place) make them. And if the employee is newer, they are probably less likely to know what the person is talking about. And also less able to figure out how to charge for them and know what they can and can not do. Can't blame that employee like some people have in the comments. I don't think it is not wanting to do more work, it is not wanting to get reprimanded for doing something he shouldn't.
Yea I think they were just surprised because they assumed that secret menus were common in America after experiencing In and Out. In and Out is basically the only restaurant that actually embraces their secret menu and keeps it off the menu. For most other places if people create a secret menu item that people like they usually just add it to the menu before it gets well known.

Ice cream sandwich is actually a street food in Singapore. We will use a piece of normal breakfast bread (not the German type) and place a scoop of ice cream in it, then fold it in half to hold the ice cream and eat it. It's so darn good on a hot day.
It is definitely not disgusting because you are supposed to finish it before it melts badly, and the bread being slightly salty works very well with the sweetness of the ice cream. And you don't have to cut it up like cutting a waffle, and create a mess with melted ice cream on the plate.
I never skip Olly's ads because they are amazing. Also we need a T-shirt with Olly's happy face and the words "You're an Idiot" written on it. I'd wear that shirt proudly. 😸❤
Secret menus are just custom orders that have become popularized. So instead of saying the name of the item, it might be better to specify what you want like instead " Yo, I want the the reverse burger" , say you want a burger with the buns in between the patties instead for example.
The ice cream-bread combo is very common here in Indonesia. Interestingly, not in any fast food restaurant but you can actually find the combo being sold by street food vendors. Typically, you can find at
least one seller outside a school 😁

I hate these ideas of "secret menu items". The staff have no idea what they are unless someone tells them. Since they're not official, they don't get trained on it. It just makes it hard on the staff to deal with your order. It's not "creative" and "fun". I say this as someone who has been on the receiving end of many people trying to do this. *end rant*
