I'm sure you've heard this but as a fellow 4th Gen f body owner I have a 96 rs Camaro and with these 3800s ur not supposed to use a fram oil filter because these engines create to much oil pressure and make the fram filters fall apart on the inside and it kills ur engine I had a filter collapse On me and luckily I caught it in time

I've used fram oil filters on my 3800 for the past 10 yrs no issues using them. Glad to c someone is dumping in royal purple 10W30 synthetic oil u with notice the difference on how much less friction there will be in a very short period of time. I started using that in 5W30 in my 2009 HHR SS 2 liter turbo just recently. May pay a little more but well worth it. Fuel mileage may tick up a few points after awhile thru the engine.
