I am a type 2 diabetic of 40 years and I do have some protein in my urine, it went from 49.9 to around 69 in 2 years, my latest egfr is 97, I have no symptoms of CKD so far, should I be worried, I am 68.
Good info! Myself being 60s y.o. man, single kidney, Cr 1.3, on BP meds...I've recently noticed that I am not tolerating large heavy meals with meat, as I get older. Mostly Plant based or at least, much less meat is my main goal for food intake now!
I’m stage 5, PKD, and have been dealing with more bubbles since I was subjected to a CT-scan with contrast three months ago. ..and on Friday they’re pouring more contrast in me.. Yikes.. So far the numbers aren’t horrible, 42mg/L of Albumin. Haven’t had a protein;u annoyingly. Thank you guys for all you do, and right now; this and the following episodes. They come in really handy ❤

I have stage 3 ckd and a stone attached to the wall of my kidney and also a stent in place. I also have a lot of protein in my urine and think this may be affecting my osteoarthritis in both knees due to lack of protein in my bloodcells. My urologist has indicated my left kindney with the stone is only functioning at 15% and it would be best just removing it. Any advice on this?
I have stage 4 kidney disease caused by COVID. As a result i often suffer from cramps and muscle spasms. Is there something i can do to help stop that...
Muscle cramps and spasms can be caused by several different things with CKD. Like electrolyte imbalances, build up of uremic toxins, muscle or nerve damage. Definitely talk about it with your doctor so you can see what the cause is for you! A renal dietitian can help evaluate your diet and see if there is anything lacking that may be contributing to it too!
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth thank you so much for the response. I'm currently on a renal diet and been plant based for 1.5 years now. Still dealing with the cramps and spasms and the Mayo clinic is currently trying to figure out what's the issue. Thank you
I have ckd stage 4. My last urinalysis showed a proteine level in my urine at 100. And though it is not a,lot, wondering if I should be concerned that it may be increasing because my previous level was 50? Don't know if I should bring this up with my nephrologist or not? 🤔
Trends in labs and urinalysis are definitely relevant to look at and discuss with your doctor! Better to catch an upward trend early on then to wait until it (possibly) continues to trend higher upward!
Hey guys i just want to ask, please help as i am really stressed, ive been noticing foamy urine in the morning since some time and then i decided to do egfr (121), creatinine(1.0) , bun(7) and surprisingly uACR (1.66) but only thing that is concerning me is uPCR( creatinine =116.28 ) normal but spot urine is 16.50 mg/dl and it should be under 14, Although the ratio is 0.14
Are the numbers of protein leak or albumin leak from a 24-hr collection of protein? My random urine protein is at 13 mg/dL. I don’t fully understand it. I have IgA nephropathy.
This is a great quick read on albuminuria and how it is detected! www.kidney.org/kidneydisease/siemens_hcp_acr#:~:text=Albumin%2Dto%2Dcreatinine%20ratio%20(,by%20creatinine%20concentration%20in%20grams.
I have a protein spillage of 3grams but my kidney function is 98 from IGA . I m getting swollen ankle and fatigue . I m taking Farxiga but it’s giving me 2 uti already , should I stop it ? my nephrologist told me to continue on it

We're sorry that happened to you with the contrast. Glad that our episodes are helping. Our episode next week will address lowering proteinuria!
Great health information. I'm 57 and disabled. Eating right and taking care of myself.

What is the best way to test for diabetes nephropathy ?
Usually bloodwork and urinalysis are used to screen for diabetic nephropathy. Ultrasound may be done. And biopsy IF diagnosis is not clear.
Doctor, Is H. Pylori the cause of proteinuria?
Happy to hear that you're following up with your doctor and monitoring blood sugar and kidney health/protein in urine!
What if the test strip was positive 75 protein because of stress but no protein = 0 was detected in the laboratory?
