Let me fetch a thought I had earlier. A theory. Nothing confirmed.
Thinking about the last part a little, it's possible the ex was disguised as a "perfect" partner and any imperfections were deflected as Jake causing them. When that illusion was shattered that's when the ex realized Jake could no longer be strung around and ended things. Maybe? And the more I think about that the more it makes sense for Jake to get defensive when Ally is around. Her intentions may be good but her behavior of being perfect and dragging down others who didn't do perfect might actually be a trigger point to him. To me that would explain a lot. Again, it is just a loose theory thought.

Seeing this, it looks like Jake somehow matured from 2 years, or more like a few more years ever since he broke up with his ex. If it were S1 Jake, pretty much he’ll be a bit sensitive compared to AS Jake imo. Also, I’m still curious on wtf his ex even did to Jake to make Jake this upset to the point he barely wants to talk when people ask about it. Sure we know his cheated on him, but how badly did the cheating effect Jake is the question. Meaning, after the cheating, did the ex do something to Jake to make him more upset? Also the fact Jake honestly valued him as the perfect boyfriend and then the ex did this “mistake” which caused things to go downhill for Jake. No wonder Jake has so much trust issues and he acts the way he acts around other people. Atleast good thing is he is trying to improve now.
Why would you want to talk about your ex? if things ended was for something, even if it was a bad or good ending, nobody talk about an ex, specially when you are in love with someone else already. And just the cheating is enough to delete that man from his life, it is something disgusting, specially because for what it seams the cheating was more than just a kiss and Jake saw it with his own eyes. Anyway it is in the past and how Jake said he doesn't have to give attention to it, it is something horrible from the past and it is also personal. I know people that experienced cheating and it is horrible, awful, disgusting and more if you find out by yourself and see it.
Edit: Also people give too much attention and are too obsessed with that ex for nothing, that story is just to give a context to Jake's story, the ex isn't important at all, it is just an element from the story. What is important is how it helps Jake to evolve and how that experience make Jake knows his love for Tom is true and stronger than any past relationship he had.
Could you imagine if the contestants have to do a trial where they have to face someone bad from their past and we see Jake’s ex?! That’d be amazing.

Fans need to stop being so obsessed about Jake's ex before Tom, and I don't say it against you Mayua I understand why you did the greeting, it is more a call out for other fans, that awful ex is a horrible thing from Jake's past and he already forgot about him, everybody need to stop bringing him up even in headcanons it is enough, it is also so awful how some fans make arts about that ex, really why? what is the necesity?, the man was a horrible person. Cheating is so disgusting.
All the story about that ex is just to show off how strong Jake's love for Tom is, because for that past experience Jake is very sure that his feelings for Tom are stronger that what he felt for any other past relationship he had, Jake forgot about that ex fast even when he was years with him and was a perfect boyfriend, Jake moved on thanks to Tom because Tom is the man tied to Jake with the red string of fate. And it is also why Jake couldn't forget about Tom after 2 years of not meeting with him and after all those years Jake is very in love with Tom, even when other men tried to get Jake he didn't fall because his love for Tom is stronger and he know it because all the past experience. And again I repeat, the past story of Jake's relationships is there to tell us and to know why Jake is so in love and why he is so sure about Tom being his true love.
For me Jake is that kind of person that is destined to love someone so strongly he could die and that someone for Jake is Tom, his true love as I already said. It is what the story show us and tell us, specially in season 03 after all those years of being separated. In EP07 is very clear Jake doesn't care about the "ghosting" and he just express all his love to Tom. The advice from Ashley about not thinking in the past is also for Jake to don't think too much about Tom's lie from EP07 so he can stay loyal to his feelings for Tom and live the present to start again his love relationship with Tom. I love Jake character because of that and I hope it stay like that, Jake's love must be only for Tom no matter what. Now what we need to know is if Tom's love is only for Jake because is that other part of the story we aren't too sure about and I really wish that Tom express better what he feels for Jake, I need Tom to say it clearly.
Edit: Tom and Jake story is written to be a true love story because of everything they have been through.

Oh no I agree. I only did it this way because I am deeply interested in his lore. I don't plan on badgering him about this. This greeting tells me that Jake's past regarding a mentally abusive manipulator ex who appears as picture perfect to everyone else is highly viable. We can pretty much theorize a solid profile that he turned their mutual friends against Jake and he had to cut them off to protect himself.
While I like to discuss this, a lot of people wanted me to continue paying to a follow up of the card. And to that I say no.

I had an idea and I rolled with it because I am deeply curious about Jake's past and his relationship with the ex. I made a mistake with Troy thinking the tweet was real. Hope this clears up for others who fell for it too. Anyways. Seeing this reaction tells me a lot. This goes way deeper than a little deception. I have no plans of badgering him about it. I'm not sure of the source, but there was a fake Jared tweet leaked by a "patreon" that looked very authentic. I myself saw the image when entering the fandom around March, and assumed that was it. So did many people. I hope this card is something people can look to when the name comes up.
