I would love to see one where the chef doesn't watch the normals cook and also doesn't have the 3 recipes already planned. They just open it and cook just like the normals.
Agree totally!
Heck.yes!
i think they have UNPLANNED BATTLES with the normals and also the chefs only
I mean, you notice the point of this is to advertise their app right. lol That's why they have it set up the way they do.
@GundamGokuTV of course, I noticed that 😅 just suggestions
The clear sign that there is a tremendous producing effort behind every single episode is that we can still understand Ebbers while he is shaking some dried pasta out of a cardboard box, into a metal pan, right next to his mic. Kudos for the production team!
Ebbers was - as always - great, this is a good format, keep it going.
Thank you so much! This comment will make the production team VERY HAPPY 😀
I hadn’t even thought of that. Wow. Yes, good job!👍
I love that you brought back "Sorted" when presenting your dishes. I hope you bring back Fridge Cam and Dad Jokes!
"Butt first...."
I do miss the dad jokes fridge-cam.
Oh wow. Those have been gone quite awhile. Almost forget about them
Yeah the formats are mostly ads nowadays and less "fun" as in guys just having fun together
And the bloooopers!!!
This may be too heavy for a cooking video comments section, but I’m really thankful that there aren’t calories on the app - I used to really struggle with counting calories and sidekick has actually really helped me to not even think about it and just follow the recipe as it’s written no matter how “unhealthy” the ingredients or how big the portions. Knowing what someone else deems a normal mid-week meal has honestly transformed how I approach cooking and food in general
Bravo, you!
I was thinking the same as they were saying it about the info. You are not alone.
and like they said in their video, they've already thought about how to make it balanced so each one will be packed full of flavour, but will also have some nutrients, fat, carbs etc to make it a healthy meal. The thinking behind it has already happened so you just need to trust them and follow it
I use the NBA website which shows you the scores, but a simple switch hides them all and remembers the setting. The app could leverage this function for users that want to know an estimated calorie count based on the ingredients the chefs used, but hide it for those who don't want to be burdened or have their diet affected.
Wait, 'struggle with counting calories'. Isn't counting calories a good thing? If a meal I make is 1,500 calories per portion I'd like to know it wouldn't be good to have that twice in a day.
Love hearing SORTED after each dish!
A little throwback :)
@@SortedFood😊😊😊❤❤❤
Same - and I'd also love the dad jokes to make a comeback. More dads to participate now :)
Now, can we get the fridge camera too? Hopefully!
Ben bringing back the "sorted" at the end is extra swag. 😆
The guys making fun of Ben's "swagger", being so proud of themselves after their amazing performance yesterday, and putting on the chef's jackets, Ben's little 'there's no washing up to do' all of it is hilarious and just so fun to watch.
I love this kind of video even if it is an almost 17-minute-long ad. Y'all have worked really hard to build Sidekick and it's clear that there's a lot of thought and effort that goes behind it. Y'all sound really proud of it and I love the app.
The sorted sidekick app only has like 60 meals on it.
@higgy82 60 meals is a lot of damn meals, and its also for shopping and buying several meals worth of ingredients, right?
@@joshp8535 You're on the way to contradict your own point there. If it's 60 meals, but they're so interwoven that you make use of all your ingredients, you'll naturally have some samey dishes in there. Then add dishes that'll naturally be somewhat similar from other recipes in the app and the amount of "real differences" go down even more.
The app's a nice idea and well thought-through in that one regard "reduce waste". But I'd imagine a lot of "not-so-hardcore" fans will just use it for like a month, drop it and learn to budget and buy ingredients for stuff they'd actually want, rather than a pre-set list.
Also chatgpt and the like are ever-so-slowly getting to a point where they'll be able to do this stuff, too. With a lot more variety and endless recipes.
The app has over 120 Recipe Packs, each with 3 meals. That's 360 individual recipes@@higgy82
Thank you so much! We really appreciate this comment, we're super proud of what we've created as a community and want to let the world know just how amazing Sidekick is ❤
It's crazy to me how similar this actually is to what Baz & Spaff made... And that's a compliment to them, because it means that without they were able to come up with 3 dishes on the fly that weren't far off from what the food team planned out!
That wasn't an easy bag of food either, at least not for a irish background American.
Definitely! The guys did SO WELL 👏
Challange idea: Barry and Spaff feed. Ben and kush something they made blindfolded and they have to recreate it in a battle agaisnt each other
I like this one!
Kinda like Chris from Bon Appetit's super-taster videos - where he blind taste tests a popular dish and tries to recreate it.
@@sweetysavvy I fucking love those videos
Like on hells kitchen with. Taste it, now make it. I would love to see this
i know you didnt mean it this way... but barry and spaff cooking blindfolded would be worth it even if ben and kush dont try to recreate
That swagger impression is such a mood, loved it😂
Loving the comback of the recipe videos, and the "Sorted" sign off! Just like the old days
I have to admit, I love that Sidekick does not have nutrition information. I personally believe it played a big part in helping me recover from disordered eating. I can tell that the recipes are balanced and if I felt like I wanted a little more veg or a little more cheese, I would add it. No need to fuss over every little ingredient.
I would like to have nutrient information. Not calories, that's hopeless. But did I get iron and calcium? Do I need to eat a banana because I haven't had potassium all day?
@adde9506
Bananas aren't all that great when it comes to potassium. Leafy greens or lentils can have more of it. Bananas are just preferred by runners, as they're also high in carbs and will deliver energy fast
As I've got ADHD I rarely watch a whole video of anything without skipping through a bit but your videos are one of the few I'll watch from start to finish every time. Thank you for making content that sooths my far far too over active brain.
This is seriously awesome to hear! We're so glad you enjoy the videos and can watch them the whole way through :)
I saw everyone commenting about Ebbers saying "sorted" at the end of the dish and had to fight the urge to skip through with every fibre of my being
I’m in the same boat with ADHD! Glad to know other people feel this way about these videos. 🫶
They also really help me eat because sometimes I get brain block from my ADHD and I make food, or think about making food, and freeze before I can eat. Even though I want to and I keep telling myself to, I just can’t do it. So thank you @@SortedFood! Watching you cook and eat helps me to do the same. ❤
My ADHD brain has been helped a lot by Sidekick! Less mess, less fumbling, less aimless storming around. And I buy what I use and use what I buy. Less impulse purchases. Sure, I listen to one voice instruction several times since in the time it takes me to put the oven to preheat I forget that I need to then cut my veggies to quarters. But that's a minor issue. Plus I like the voice instructions a lot more than reading!!!
The broccoli stalk is genuinely the best part, either cooked or raw. I'll never understand people throwing it away.
Sitting here eating steamed stalk as I watch this!
It has to be cooked correctly. If it's a nice tender fork cut, it's awesome.
Absolutely.... my favourite part as well
Exactly, it's my favourite part of broccoli. There's something to be said about the florettes' ability to soak up sauce, but the juicy tender stalk is the best.
Yep the stalks are the sweetest part…..yummy
I always enjoyed "Good Eats" because Alton Brown explained WHY we do what we do when cooking various dishes. This really channels that spirit in all the best ways and makes it easy to build knowledge and take it into other dishes down the line.
I miss “Sorted!” being mentioned when the dish has been done. It’s endearing.
I'm having one of the worst days in recent memory and just going through RUclips and finding fun British cooking show is just a shot in the arm to make a bad day better
So sorry for you are having a bad day. 🙏🏼
Say safe mate, it'll get better. Luv ya
So sorry to hear this..... we hope we can put a smile on your face with one of our vids 🤗
@SortedFood same For me guys😊😊😊
Wanna talk about it?
So I've always cleaned my pans hot but folks would criticize me for it or warn me that I'm ruining my pans. But sod 'em, it was so much faster/easier! It's great seeing you guys show the cleanup process. I think most cooking shows/networks avoid showing that part so the important tips and tricks aren't ever taught to the public. If more folks found cleanup easy/quick, they'd cook more often.
Couldn't agree more! I often do the same and have also been warned but the way I see it, putting some cool tap water into a recently emptied, hot pan can't be that much different than using room temperature wine to deglaze a pan actively being heated with a few pieces of onion in it. I'm sure it's possible to damage pans under some really extreme circumstances but I can't imagine most home cooks are doing that... too bad Adam Ragusea isn't on the scene as much anymore, I smell a debunking video in that one!
It's only a bad idea if you have cheap, flimsy pans that are likely to warp.
I've been cooking using the sorted app for 2 years now. Almost all our weekly meals are planned around it. It's been a complete game changer and has taught me so many new things and introduced us to lots of food that we would never have thought to cook.
No only that, but we are expecting our first child this year and I'm already confident we can easily batch cook by increasing the people to cook for from 2 to 4 and freeze the remaining. More time saved for baby then!
Then when they're old enough they can also eat well!
I gotta say the boys did extremely well in this challenge!?! 👀
Using browned butter for a broccoli soup base is a great idea and that olive/garlic butter makes me hungry.
Just finished making and eating the soup. It's *really* tasty. You should try it 😋
5:53 Spaff and Bazz are ROCKING those jackets! Looking good! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤
For anyone who missed it (or couldn't find it like me), the name of this pack in Sidekick is "7 Ingredient Warmers" and I think I'm cooking it this week.
Love that we get tips all the way through. The 'why' is often as important as the 'how'. Nice job as usual!!
Jaimie and Barry making similar dishes as ben really shows how far they've come
LOVE hearing Sorted after a dish! Nice throwback😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Love the deep friendship as well as the cooking.
I’ve noticed the hexclad pan used pretty frequently throughout since back when yall tested it. It would be cool if some of the products that you’ve tested/reviewed and then kept around got a follow up review on thoughts you guys have on it after 6 months or a year of use.
I agree. Seeing them use the same pans seems to be a good sign 👍
Would be fun to see Ben doing this but going in Blind like Barry and Jamie, see if he’s a suave with his cooking then!
GREAT idea Alex!
@@SortedFood😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
why not switch the order? Have the Chef do the first day of the challenge and the normals the second? To see if they can remember the inspiration. Like we do trying to recreate a meal from a cooking show. @SortedFood
Yes, I completely understand that this is basically an ad for their app but Ben cooking the recepies the ingredients were taken from makes it much less impressive.
@@SortedFoodI think there is potential if you take a newly developed pack (which isn't on the App) and have the boys cook the meal pack as per the team's instructions.
As an added bonus you could have the food team optimise Ebbers' recipe (what's on the video is the first draft. Nothing is perfect the first time) and release them both when the second video is uploaded.
What I'd personally love to see is like, Unplanned Normals vs Unplanned Chef vs Food Team. Give the food team all the prep time they usually have, but also show off how that prep time matters and it's not JUST expertise that enables those recipes to happen.
AGREED
Love how Ben's bringing back the "[dish name] sorted!" in these videos.
I've never had fennel and polenta before sidekick and can confidently say im obsessed with them. Thanks, Sorted team!!🎉
It is always good to see Ben take over a kitchen-he really is a joy to watch.
I love the tip of 'squeeze throw the microplane.' Super simple, but something I will absolutely be using constantly going forward
I really appreciate you guys thought about people who Don’t want to see calorie counts in the sidekick app. I'm deeply triggered by calories and calorie counting, so just being able to make delicious and nutritious food without having to worry about that is so nice. It's one of the reasons I love sidekick
I like this format. One video for the home cooks and one video for the chef. thank you
LOVE your friendships as much as the cooking😊😊😊❤❤
I like this two-tier approach to the shopping challenge. Part 1: Improv. Part 2: Planned. It really shows how the methods create versatility from the same ingredients.
Daylight savings time had me expecting this an hour earlier. So glad it is up now.
Same! I can’t watch over my lunch anymore 😢
In the UK our clocks don't change until the end of the month, so it'll be back at your regular time in a few weeks.
I know these are “technically” an ad for your app, but gosh I do love them!
I’ve used your app and I can recommend! It works exactly like you say in the video!
Thank-you so much for this.. I trained as a chef but did not continue with it for long.. This on use of ingredients and communication of method was a real treat to observe.. It may be helpful in the future to do a mini series on a week of meals based on value products or store brand for those on limited budgets particularly families with children......Kindness your way.. Lochness Sottish Highlands..
I don't often watch these and say yes, I'm going to do that. Today is an exception. I think these three meals will go over really well with myself and grandma.
Got 2/3 of Ben's ideas last video. Pilaf rice was a good new idea to try.
I LOVE how you guys are going back to all of the things that I subscribed for with these two videos! please for the love of god continue
Barry and Jaimie impersonating Ebber's swagger immediately made me think of Michael Macyntire. 😆
I just love it when Ben cooks; he’s such a good teacher! I didn’t know that bread could count as a protein in a meal.
"Which on do i want to tuck into?" The answer is simple my dear Watson. Simply put, Yes. Lol
Love it when ben says "sorted" at the end of the recipes
I’ve never been one to look at the nutritional info on a recipe because (in the case of non-sidekick recipes) I usually end up derailing from them in ways that render their numbers moot. But in the case of sidekick, the excitement y’all have for fresh ingredients and quality produce and the consideration you have for everyday folks means your recipes are BY FAR the least of my concerns lol
I'd like to see an ingredients challenge where everyone cooks with stuff they don't really like, both because it's funny and I think it's pretty common to accidentally pick up something you didn't like as much as you thought you would, or you're living with someone who likes something you don't.
Fun video to start the week. Thanks! :)
Thank you for covering the nutritional information. I had wondered exactly that about balance over the meals.
One thing I appreciate about Sorted is that its truly educational and not just cooking entertainment. 😍
Sorted Food, one of the most valuable RUclips channels to ever exist. So generous in their sharing of food and cooking knowledge, thoughtful with their app design, and considerate of the greater good with their commitment to reducing food waste. Who else does it like that? We need more creators like the Sorted team
These are some of my favourite videos (up there with Pass it On 🎉).
Just wanted to comment and say how brilliant it is that while you consider nutrition you don't list calories or micronutrients for your recipes. Speaking as a person in eating disorder recovery it is so helpful and refreshing not to see an Obsession with numbers but instead a focus on balanced dishes made with a variety of fresh ingredients. Keep up the great work 👏 🥰
Soups and stews are really undervalued. More people should try them at home. They are not nearly as hard as you think, and most can even keep frozen and just be reheated later, since making a bigger portion is often not much work extra. Doesn't have to be brokkoli, if you don't like that, but honestly everything tastes quite nice in creme soup variant. I don't usually like brokkoli either, or asparagus, but in soup they are good. Alternatively, pumkin, ginger & curry, or basically anything with lentils or chickpeas can be amazing too. Heck even pea stew is much better than just having some peas as the "veg" part of a normal dish.
Carrots, lentils, leek, potatoes, etc., these are all SO cheap too.
Watching you guys for awhile I've become hyper aware of how to combine and recombine ingredients to come up with more than I would have originally. I've also learned that I don't have to be afraid of "cheating" by using pre-made things and *flavor bombs*. Thanks for the new skill!
Thank you for posting a video with real meals that I might actually make. I know you guys like to be silly and have fun.. but I haven’t seen a lot of this type lately.
Great, simple recipes too. And using up all the ingredients to make 3 different meal. Totally loved it.
These are much more useful being in two parts! As a nutritionist, I like Ben's Ben's insights and ability to educate clearly 😊 well done for not providing generic nutritional advice!
I saw, and very much enjoyed, yesterday's Grocery Shop Challenge, but the "Right Said Fred" style catwalk swagger from the "normies" was one of the funniest things ever on your channel!
I always learn useful tips from your videos- much love from across the pond!
Sorted si the BEST way to start the week! ❤
Loved this video! I’m cooking this pack this week and I decided to add the anchovy… bad idea since I don’t like anchovy. But I’m glad I tried it and I love that the app keeps me trying more things!
I love it when I drops during my lunchtime
Winner! 🙌
@@SortedFood🎂🎂🎂🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love the broccoli stem. Peel it and just eat them. So crunchy so good.
You know what, I had no idea the amount of nutritional work being done in the background, and I greatly appreciate it. I love food, but I still try to be balanced and healthy, so it's great to know the Sorted recipes are working with me, not against me.
That cheeky little swagger bit was hilarious! 😂❤
I really appreciate how much content this channel is putting out.
I love that in so many recipes that I see chefs propose when cooking with tomato paste is "put in the tomato paste and then cook it out" which sounds funny lol. But I totally understand it after doing it for so long. It just sounds funny when saying it.
I actually really like the broccoli stalks…I think that soup/dish would be right up my street
I definitely think that this (both the normals and chef side of things) has been my favorite in the series by a long shot. I adore seeing how to turn a budget haul of food into nutritious, luxurious, delicious meals, with the over-the-top benefit of ALSO teaching people about balanced cooking, skills to shrink labor and food waste, and flexibility around dietary needs. Top marks across the board, this has really set a high bar for cooking content on the web.
I love that Ben was saying “broccoli soup and garlic olive bread SORTED”! Takes be back…now just need comment of the week, fridge cam, and bloopers 🤪
Loved the classic feel of the episode!
The brocoli pasta dish I'd love to try ,then the rice dish .They all sounded great anyway .
Which one to tuck into?
YES, YES, & YES !!!
9:23 I actually really like when food apps, restaurants, and other places don't put nutritional information on their stuff because it helps people with EDs not feel that number or "value" crush them
I know it's not for everyone with EDs, but I know I appreciate it ❤❤
This is brilliant. Yesterday we made the pasta dish (with leftovers for lunch) and today we made the soup. Both wonderfully tasty and so easy and accessible. Affordable too. Love the channel and what you do.
Ben, the three recipes look great. I think I like the rice dish most but would love to try them all.
the peanut gallery is just absolutely wonderful in this, im cracking up hella
Oh those dishes looks so delicious!! I'm saving this video to try them soon!! thank you for showing recipes like this from time to time. Really appreciated it! By the way, the Cambodian-Style Pork And Ginger Stir Fried Noodle that you shown in Oct 2023 is now a staple in our home! So yummy and easy!!
I love the swag..thank you for bringing back sorted.
I love your content. You mention the "food team" many times in this and many other videos. We even get glances of them from time to time. I really want a "behind the scenes" video. What do you do all day when you aren't shooting video? Food testing for the app? All that.
I don't know the logic of the views and algorithms but I am rather thankful that the normals dishes and chefs dishes are split. Tbh I usually skip to the normals judging and watching the chef dishes so I can only assume this is better for the channel if there are others like me with the same pattern
I wish there were bookmarks, I've been half listening, but the fact there's a creamy broccoli soup caught my attention only while that were eating it. Now i have to go back and re-watch LOL
Please bring back the "sorted" at the end of dishes. I say it every time - it's nice to hear it back! I love this video I don't quite know why I love it more than the others, other than it bringing back elements of the older videos❤
They are looking fantastic, congratulations to you ;)
When I make broccoli soup, I like to save out a few florets and stir them in at the last minute.
Everything looks delicious! Can't wait to try the pasta dish.
wow..just wow!
The whole food team worked on that and planned it out. Barry and Jamie had like, 5 minutes to plan with surprise ingredients. I think it's INCREDIBLE that they landed at almost the same thing considering the handicaps.
I'd like to see this reversed. Have the guys shop and plan out three solid dishes, then have Ben do the improv, see where he goes, and have the guys do their planned meals.
Been waiting for this since ebbers said it yesterday!
My 💯 Sicilian Pop would have loved the last dish for sure!
Definitely want to see a video about Ramadan from you guys would be so cool
Love the soup and the garlic bread 😋
My wife and I cooked the brussel sprout mash this week and it was so so so good
Jamie and Baz on the side 😂😂😂😂 Flippity - flop shiffity - shop 😂that's their definition of swagger 😂
You guys make my week 😉 Keep up the swagger
Yay nothing like an early morning sorted fix
I like that you started usng "sorted"again. It is the catch-phrase of the show. It just fits.
Going to be honest here, I still enjoyed this, it was incredible fun but it was also a lot more enjoyable when both parts were in a single video, made things a lot easier to keep track of. Sorry to be a downer! Still had a lot of fun! Also loved the callback at the end of the dishes!
Love "sorted" at the end, it's been a while!!
Vincenzo, from Vincenzo’s Plate, is probably having a heart attack with the brand of pasta you are using, Ben! 😂 😂
