    Those small birds won’t bath in flowing water. They prefer shallow puddles. You need to put out a plate with about 5mm to 10mm of water for them to bath.

  • @Woutschellekens
    @Woutschellekens 9 месяцев назад +25

    you should put some sort of sand or soil for the pheassant them running only on conrete isn't good, same with the bunnies build them a sort of a sandbox with regular soil for them to dig and play they shouldn't be on concrete all day

    • @gemgemdeg706
      @gemgemdeg706 9 месяцев назад

      True. Or you can have the bunnies run around outside supervised for an hour or so a day so they can eat grass. And the concrete should be lined with like hard cardboard like Amazon boxes. That’s what I did with mine. (I live in LA so he lived outside in his two story pen during mild weather).

    Hi Mickey! I find it sad that the floors for the bunnies is concrete. You should put hay or dirt on the floor or at least a large box where the can rest theire paw, same for the piggies and pheasant. I'm afraid for them the get bumble feet.. anyway I very happy for you and your Dreams com true! BYE!

    Mikey the chickens need a place to roost at night…it’ll have to be higher than the nest boxes…..they naturally will fly to the highest point available to sleep at night…….so if you put it lower than the nest they will still fly on top of the nest boxes to sleep….i would also place it away from the nest. If you don’t give them a roost, the top of the nest cages will be covered in poop.

    Mikey, the Madre de Cacao tree and Palo de Maria tree are trees or shrubs that the goats and pigs love to eat. Plant more of those trees since you have more animals now. The Palo de Maria trees look like a Tamarind tree. The chickens love to eat their leaves. You don't have to go anywhere. Lots and lots of interesting things and pets to vlog in your property. Love you and RJ.❤❤❤

    I second the comment about bird baths for small birds…they should be far more shallow and still. If you set up something like that they will be very happy campers bathing it. It’s great fun to watch. When you have more experience with small birds you will notice when they are ill…it’s subtle. I had some when I was a young woman. Beautiful aviary, just stunning.

    I recommend you put wall protection on one side of your aviary, because its only roofing on both ends. During rainy season with strong winds, your parrots has no place to protect themselves from rain and stay dry, because all the sides of their cage are open.

    If there are not too many roosters, you can still eat the eggs they might be a little darker, but will be fine if collected quickly. Also, they don’t usually sit on one egg they lay several before they will sit on them. I also recommend a parakeet/budgie grit for your indoor aviary. And dried mealworms or larvae for your pheasants, and for your chickens too until they are free range. Everything is looking so great! 👍🏽

    I agree with the other comments stating that the finches and the canaries needing shallower and still water to bathe in. Maybe a different bathing dish can be installed inside the aviary while still keep the water feature flowing if some of the birds want to enjoy just standing by its edge and letting the splashes of the water wash them if they feel like it.
    Like one commenter pointed out, the tree snake is a Philippine Bronzeback and it is not a gliding species like the Paradise Tree Snake; the former has that bronze-colored scales on its back that gave it its common name, while the latter has a black dorsal coloration with green and yellow spots, with additional red spots along the middle of its back.
    By the way, if you'll end up putting tortoises in the iguana pen, the space would probably be better for smaller species as there won't be enough space for a giant species like a sulcata or an aldabra. There's also the advice from different reptile-keeping sites and forums that I have read that they don't do well on enclosures with concrete floors especially in hotter areas as it gets too hot for their undersides. Some keepers suggest putting in some kind of soil or other substrate over it thoigh and spreading it all over the enclosure floor.
    The Silkie Egg that was found inside the chicken coop might be infertile as the hen left it behind, with said hen not going broody over it.

    Hey Mikey,
    If you want to know if the egg is fertile you can candle chicken eggs the same way you candle lizard or snake eggs. Just use the flashlight on your phone and put it underneath the egg and look for red veins in the egg. If there are red veins then you have a fertile egg. If there aren't red veins, then you have breakfast.

    Mikey, you have to plant more trees in your empty lots. When the parrots destroy all those trees in the future, your property will be bald and dry. The birds live in the wilds. They eat and pooh the plants that they eat. When they are in enclosed area and they eat healthy, they have more energy to use. Like people, they need something to destroy or spend their energy with. Take care and look for trees to plant. Useful and decorative trees. Good luck, my darling.❤

    You should keep an eye on your chickens. Silkies can be tricky. Not all roos stand tall with massive walnut combs. Some look like fluffy hens with puffy cotton ball crests. The only reliable way to tell if it's really a hen is if you actually see it lay an egg.

    Really enjoyed the update. I think that your chicken needs to be broody before she will sit on the egg and possibly she needs to have laid more than one. I was glad to see the egg in the bamboo hutch as I didn't know how high Silkies could jump and wondered if they needed a ramp. Your new chickens look so different from the shorter fatter ones that I'm used to seeing in the UK. Your new three look so leggy and wild. Glad you are getting perches for them to roost. Commiserations on the loss of the yellowest canary. Sleep well and have a good week.

    Silkies are VERY good parents and really really like to brood eggs. The Silkies might get picked on by the other chickens though.
    When you add roosts, make them higher than the nest boxes. FYI Che chicken that roosts the highest is/are most dominant. Although Silkies often don’t roost high because of their feathers. They can’t really fly.

    • @tbella5186
      @tbella5186 9 месяцев назад +1

      I second this. Silkies do not do well with other more dominant breeds.
