Mam you said that the lumen of tracheids is wider than vessels but the lumen of vessels is wider than tracheids Mam plzzzzzz clear my doubt which one is wider
Mam i guess u r wrong with your words that vessels have large lumen as compare to trachds. But during course of evolution vessels r evolved from tracheids and lumen bcm big or large
Mam Excellent presentation. In your presentation you said that vessels more effective than tracheids in conduction of water. But, Gymnosperms like pinus, Sequia gigantia like plants are taller than angiosperms how tracheids conduct water in these plants efficiently?
Dude, the main force is always transpiration along with adhesion and cohesion that facilitates the sap movement towards upward direction. However, if we compare two trees with same height, then vessels provide a better path than tracheids. For a descent height, both tracheids and vessels will do fine but when it comes to heights more than 80metres, tracheids won't be able to support effectively and there, the vessels work. So no doubt that the trees which you mentioned, will grow easily with tracheids or even with vessels, but the trees with sky high heights will need vessels and many other adaptations to grow effectively.
See I too had the same doubt but when I tried to find the answer I got to know that, for a tree to attain a height, it's not only one reason i.e. The presence of trachieds or vessels but many other factors regulate the height of the plant as well such as plant hormones etc. Imagine if it is our human body, then you must know that it is not only regulated with the amount of water supply or blood circulation but also the hormones and other factors matter.
@@vinayameta9444 can say that too as we know the thinner the capillary the better it would conduct the water upwards through all the forces that you have talked about in this. And I must say that vessels have wider lumen than the trachieds.....so the answer is clear.
@@salonigupta6575 the word wider and narrower automatically puts confusion as one would say narrower will provide better suction. But but but! Here , the narrower structure is so narrow that the suction ,which generally would've increased, decreases here. While the "wider" part is at the ideal diameter range to provide high suction. The words wider and narrower are here for comparison. Just in case if you didn't got my point, in chemistry, regarding the electron affinity, it increases as the size of atom decreases which is why, chlorine will have more electron affinity as compared to bromine. But in case of fluorine, which is even smaller than chlorine, has lesser affinity than chlorine and this is because of the fact that the critically small size in fluorine causes the electron repulsion which counters the small size advantage and collectively , the electron affinity decreases. Now apply the same logic to suction, for drinking juice ,we have straws but if we decrease their diameter, the suction may increase initially but later on as the diameter gets really small, suction will decrease.

Mam ... what is torus in tracheids .....i am still studying that tracheid has thick wall than vessel as tracheid form xylem ni pteridophyte and gymnosperm and vessel is found in angiosperm only.....

Mam you said that the lumen of tracheids is wider than vessels
but the lumen of vessels is wider than tracheids
Mam plzzzzzz clear my doubt which one is wider
Lumen of vessels is wide because their cell wall is thinner than tracheids (presence of lignin)
Lumen of vessel wider than tracheids
Always making complex topic looks simple. You are always the best!
Mam i guess u r wrong with your words that vessels have large lumen as compare to trachds. But during course of evolution vessels r evolved from tracheids and lumen bcm big or large
