    I’ve been watching tom saguto and enjoyed his tips . Just discovered your channel and think it’s great . I’m 65 and my distance is lacking . I noticed that when I do your swing correctly I have more height and better shots . With the driver I have to play the ball too far up to get a proper launch angle but I am going to try tilting back more on the downswing to see if I can hit a draw. I’m not a slicer more of a straight ball hitter but hit it too low . I’m a practicer and will work on your tips . Many thanks!

    Very good Jess. I’ve actually been working on this. That is keeping my back to the target longer. I have very fast hips, doing exactly what you stated. My feel is that I’m hitting against my left side at contact, creating the whip you refer too. This should be helpful to many golfers, including those of us that are more experienced. I hit the ball more solid and a lot farther by doing this. I’ve even suggested some of those I see on the range to try this… My motto has always been: What we share increases, and what we withhold diminishes…

    Thank you for this tip Jess, huge-huge help. I have a question in regard to improving one's balance through the golf swing specifically with the hips/pelvis. When involving the core muscles in the swing, I notice some tendency for the hips to stiffen because of the involvement of the muscles above (core) and below (legs) it. When this happens (stiffening of the hip muscles), it somehow throws me off my balance (or it could be something else affecting it) in my effort to hold it after my follow through. I tried to exert a conscious to relax my hips and it kind of helped maintain balance but it's sure is a challenge to keep doing it because I have not heard/watched any article/video that support it.

    This is so averse to what modern instructors are teaching. They teach to sit and spin the hips. The new style swing as they are teaching has really screwed up my swing as a senior player. I went from shooting in the 70's to hardly able to break 100 trying the new swing. Thanks for this video, it should give me the confidence to go back to my old swing and start playing better again.....

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton

    Sorry I just don't get your bowler drill. It seems to go against all other golf training of the lower body starts/leads/pulls the swing until the release. I watched the drill, then I watched your full swing from straight-up. During your straight-up shot it looks like your hips/core/belt buckle start and lead your swing. I'm just not seeing any bowling action in your full swing. However I loved and plan drill myself with the tilt move. I see how this can add distance and stability. Love your videos.

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton
      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  2 года назад +1

I just didn't get the distances on the irons I used to get. I'll work it out on the range before the next round. Thank you Frank.

    Good info for older seniors but the modern swing has the shoulders and hips open at impact so that you can go through the ball with as much power as you can generate.

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton
      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  3 года назад +1

      Hey Robert. It’s not good to open early during the downswing it’s the cause of cutting across the ball and slicing for a lot of players. Do it with caution.

      @@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton ok makes senses, but thought some of them are actually sort of cupping the front wrist. They look curved in videos, but it' hard to catch the exact position...almost like that drill where you put your bag in front of your stance and you move your front arm forward and touch the bag with the back of your hand and wrist. But i could be totally off...i just know I don't think I'm maintaining that angle and lag well enough.

    Seniors shouldn't be using a driver & be worrying about gaining speed. This is the worst advice senior golfers get from RUclips "pros." Most aren't capable of gaining much speed due to loss of flexibility from age & they shouldn't be trying to do so. They should be concentrating on hitting shorter shots from the fairway rather than wasting shots from the trees or in the rough they don't have the physical strength to escape. It's called course management & playing within yourself. I'm willing to bet that any reasonably experienced senior, assuming they have a decent short game & are decent putters, meaning very few 3 putts, can score 10 shots better per round by NOT using a driver & being concerned about distance. I really hope the seniors out there will at least try this method to see if it works for them. If not, they can always go back to bash & look for it golf.

      Hey Mike I agree golfers of all ages should learn to hit the ball more solid and manage their games better. But you can add speed to your game at any age and do it efficiently and correctly. Thanks for watching and commenting!
