I’ve gotta tell you, Tom. There’s nothing better than listening to you play the song that I played to the song I wrote to the song you played to the song you wrote. Can’t wait to see your movie roll! Shoot us a link once released. Cheers!
Spence, I was cracking up thinking what you might have been thinking and feeling when Tom let loose with that - so made my morning, hell, and day for that matter :)
After watching 100+ CoronaLessons / Homeskoolin' I needed to track down Tom's original loop from Homeskoolin' Vol 14 "Rolling Rock Memories" ruclips.net/video/knDeT3YBy0Y/видео.html Spence Peppard's amazing version ruclips.net/video/whVtX5FO2sk/видео.html and Tom's reprise in this video. ruclips.net/video/lF6_zmKnGB0/видео.html Homeskoolin' Vol 23, “The Two Me’s” GETCHA SOME TOM BUKOVAC BABY!
This is ridiculous. Got here through Rhett's channel and i hit "Subscribe" 15 seconds into the video. I've been checking other videos and it's amazing what you do in a garage with a phone. Proof that all it takes is talent and a good guitar tone. Greetings from Barcelona, Spain!
I have to ask my fellow Bukovites, would you go and watch "an evening with Tom Bukovac" at your local theatre, once we are able to congregate again in, I dunno, 2022?
If you gave them Ted talk things I'd happily sit for 8 hours listening to your outlook and philosophy. You've inspired me so much I'm looking at branching out to join a band again. It's been about 15 years since I last played with people and live. I just want a "dad band". People to play with and have fun. It's really uncomfortable cos I'm an introvert. It's all your videos Tom, thanks 👍
I'm starting to think Tom doesn't have a printer! 🤣If the handwritten comments weren't a giveaway, the "I'd hold up my iPhone" is. Oldskoolin' FTW! Love it, Tom!
Tom “Cruise” Bukovac...session man and thespian for hire!! That’s really cool that you stepped out of your comfort zone and did that. Rolling Rock has always been my beer of choice so can’t wait for the tees. Very cool of the Old Latrobe 33 boys to donate to plague relief too! What’s the word on the street with the Homeskoolin’ coffee mugs? You’re reaching a lot of people and making a difference during these tough times, brother. We all look forward to the Homeskoolin’ episodes and really appreciate what you’re doing. It means a lot to us, Buk. And yes, I’m an old salty football coach and high school teacher with a hard-ass exterior, but there’s that “little boy” inner voice in my head that questions everything and keeps me grounded and in check...so I can definitely relate.
ALenaFan Page Indeed. Much like Red Stripe when I was in Jamaica. Went to the brewery and left with 2 gallon jugs full for like $2. They even sell it on the transit buses. Iced cooler full as you step on the bus...just drop a token and grab a cold one! If it was like that everywhere, I imagine more people would use the public transit😄
Awesome news on the acting front TB 👏 , congrats. I do a lot of background work in Atlanta, but was incredibly fortunate to get a credited speaking role on Avengers Endgame in a scene with Robert Downey Jr. incredibly sweet guy, super gentle heartfelt handshake. Solid dude, not unlike you or your Homeskooler faithful. 🤩
60 year old, never plan to play out again, sold all my electric’s and all my tube amps years ago, (Crusty Couch) musician here. I end up looking forward to all your episodes like I’m about to hear a “lost Beatles song”, and now I’m considering “doing something with it” and looking at “expensive” older Tele’s and Strat’s. Inspiring show to say the least! Btw-Keep the Muse happy... Thanks Tom.
Re: the two Mes.. I have a similar thing. Whenever someone blows smoke up my butt I immediately think of a situation where I was an embarrassment to just bring me back down. On the flip side, if the opposite happens and someone is calling me worthless, I defend by thinking of a time when I killed it. Kipling's quote is written on the just above the player's entrance to Centre Court at Wimbledon : 'To meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two imposters just the same' Have at it Tom B x
F’in Buk! Helping save the world one Rolling Rock at a time.. or tshirt at a time.. or lick a day.. damn.. man of unending talents. Luv y’all.. keep ‘em coming
Tom, I've looked for years for clips of you playing, hoping one day something like this would exist. I couldn't believe when I saw you post one of these videos a few months ago, and the whole series has completely exceeded any expectations I had. You said something awhile back that I think applies to us watching these videos. You mentioned seeing Tom Britt play and then did a lesson with him and recorded it. You said you took that tape home and worked on it for "years". I feel the same way about these videos. Each one literally has things you can spend years developing on. Things that will truly develop people as individual musicians rather than shallow RUclips lick junkies. Love what you're doing man. Thank you a ton.
I know I speak for 99.99% of your subs and viewers when I say you are the greatest. We are so grateful that you have appeared during these crazy times to brighten our days and enlighten us with your guitar wizardry, sage advice and great stories. We all hope that you will continue to do this even after you return as the Session Man. I encourage all of you out there to support Tom and his wonderful family by filling the tip jar and buying merchandise. On another note Tom I hope you take advantage of this rare opportunity to build your channel and create a new revenue source for your family. There are a lot of guys out there who couldn't carry your jockstrap that have YT channels that make a lucrative living.Tim Pierce can help you with some advice.Jyst keep doing what you are doing. We all love it. Thank You
Wow, that '58 sounds great! Tom, I've followed you since your days with Wynonna Judd. These Homeskoolin' videos show that you're a regular dude (who's enormously talented and played with so many music superstars). This has been a breath of fresh air to so many of us. I thought your comments in another video were spot on when you advised one of your viewers to take in the full catalog of the Beatles. You are so right. Everything is there--melody, harmony, instrumentation. They were the complete package. When regular life returns, please continue to hold class from time to time. I have to say that I've enjoyed you as much as I have your guitar, and I love the guitar!
Tom, this quarantine videos have been such a blessing.. it feels like I've made a new friend, who's a really cool dude, and tells me stories full of musical and life advices! Thank you for this man, much love from Portugal!
Hey Tom, Love everything about your show. Great hearing you mention Derek, Jack Pearson, and Steve Morse. Side note, my wife went to high school with Steve Morse in Augusta, GA, and he had to wear a short hair wig to hide his long hair! Caught him and Dawn of the Dregs reunion tour at Center Stage in Atlanta last year, he's still got it. Finally learned Dancin Days in open G, thanks to you. Please, more open tuning tips as you keep on Homeschoolin us. Stay safe with your beautiful family. Let's walk down the hill and fuck em all.
wow, that neck pickup with the tone control down was breathtakingly beautiful. love how the only high end you hear is from the distortion. thanks for the great tip!
Tom, thanks for taking the time to do another great video. They keep getting better. I had actually contacted Rolling Rock back when you started these videos telling them you were giving them some great advertising in hopes they may contact you or send you some swag. The Dispatch Master is awesome. Looking forward to getting my shirts from GHoT soon, and seeing the ones with the new design.
Hi Tom. It is wonderful that you share your inner thought processes. I bet there are many more viewers in addition to me who can relate to what you experience. The music and the guitarplaying alone would make the show fly, but really your unpretentious talk takes this to another level. I am intrigued with how you have mentally evolved as a player and what kind of big revelations have been on the journey. Thanks for keeping the show real, greetings from Finland!
Thanks for doing these videos, Tom. I'm finding myself scouring the internet searching for all the guitar work that you did in studio that I've been playing in cover bands for years. It's really cool to be acquainted with the man behind all the great guitar you've recorded. I thought mostly Mason and Huff had Nashville sewn up. I'm frankly embarrassed and not quite sure how I missed you. Great work man!
Hi ! I´m Juergen from germany, i work in a hospital here...everyday when i come home my new routine is turn on the rolling rocker ! Thank you very much for all the time and knowledge you share here !
I too feel like I've branched out and done something different since the pandemic. Tom, you and the fellow students here at Home Skoolin' have opened my eyes to how guitar-playing can be, and I will never be the same! I've been stuck in "Pentatonic Faker Land" for many, many years. Now, I'm starting my journey into really knowing the guitar and expressing myself through it! Thank you!
Thanks Tom for the morning smile. I started laughing when you played Spences version - I 'm sure he was floored - Hell ya on the RR t-shirt idea - consider me ordered and great idea making part of it donation to do good, like you are doing here every day for us. Rock over London, Rock on Chicago - Rolling Rock 33!
Just wanted to say thank you. You're bringing some much needed music, soul, humor and humanity to my life during all of this. Was a big fan before all of this. Even more now.
Hey Tom, I found your channel from Rhett Shulls channel and love it. I'm 51 too and have been playing for 41 years and constantly learn from many of the guitar channels on RUclips. Keep rocking. I learned slide about 18 years ago, bought myself three Duane Allman Slides, took a lot of practice but worth it.
I think it's hilarious that some guy has gone "I need a guy that could be convincing s a cocaine addicted strip club owner" and then goes "I know the perfect guy". Sounds awesome!
Also, you seem to be more comfortable introducing the video each day. I feel like you liked doing these but seems like you are looking more and more forward to it. You have been a bright spot for me each day. Love your style. Speaks to me. God Bless.....
I love the news about Rolling Rock, but I was hoping to hear that they decided to sponsor the (Home Skoolin) show and provide you a years worth of rocks, and all the cool perks of being sponsored by one of the nations top beers. I guess you have to get your foot in the door, and as this channel grows to become the top rated guitar related channel on RUclips that will come soon enough. I’m also a huge fan of the no editing, I think that’s why people like it so much because it’s real unscripted and from the heart. Keep up the good work
Your channel is outstanding man. Thanks for sharing the wisdom. If there is one thing this damn pandemic has brought us, it's that legends of their crafts are getting up close now. Leland Sklar has a channel now. Tom's channel here has all this new activity. So badass.
Hey Tom, my two year old and I were listening to the viewer created Spotify playlist the other day and man is it full of some badass songs. We were shaking and grooving during playtime! Thank you for putting out such great videos! Really enjoying the Tom time!
I had actually thought about a Rolling Rock themed shirt myself but knew of copyright stuff. Glad that came up and someone went to the beer guys. I'll be buying a shirt for real.
Looking forward to the possible Rolling Rock shirts. My dad and I enjoy the vids. My dad runs his own hardwood floor business and loves when you reference hardwood floors.
Love everything I've heard out of Easy Eye... sounds like a wonderful place all around. Yola's album blew my mind. Faraway Look still brings chills up the back of my neck every time.
Hi Tom, Maybe it is only me, but I think you are like a guitar version of ‘The Dude’. Not a Lebowski but a Bukowski. Obviously less lazy. And drinking Rolling Rocks instead of white russians. From that behind the scenes vid the other day, I noticed that you have a tiny little rug with the workplace over there. But I think it really ties your garage together. Hopefully we get to meet your ‘Walter’ and (shut the f*ck up) ‘Donny’ buddies one day. I’m checking your vids as from the early Corona lessons. Great, great work here man. Keep it up. It keeps us alive these days. Thanks. Cheers.
Man this has been a virtual reality where I'm hanging out with a bud in the garage that's like me, only WAY cooler with WAY more experience! 2 things real quick: I just read THE BIRTH OF LOUD, think all of us vintage types on the channel would LOVE! Second, I laughed at the Session Man=Plumber! I did a writing workshop (with Sheryl Crow progenitor Judy Stakee and us cowriters ran our first Nashville demo at Larry Beaird's) The guys come in, I'm all exuberantly expounding on the production ideas, mood etc and they are friendly but seem like they're watching the game in their head, so I think this might suck. They totally SKOOLED me! First take, I was in tears. Beyond anything I could have imagined, more like ASSASSINS, bullet to the heart. You guys, man!
I would love it if you would do some instructional videos explaining how you think when you’re improvising over the loops in your videos. Licks, scales, how you navigate the fretboard etc. would be awesome!
The other 'me' up at 2am. Thanks fellow C-Town'er for a little help for me scared downer. Just started a new full-timer job 'cause the band thing didn't work out this time around. Ever experience crushing rejection in the biz? I can only just imagine.
So utterly fantastic. Honestly, I'd never heard of you until Homeskoolin', now you're my favorite player! I'd love a playlist of your guitar "musings" to keep playing just about all of the time. Do you have any instrumental records? Heck, even if you just took some of the spontaneous magic you've posted on youtube and placed it on Spotify I'm sure it would quickly become the de facto soundtrack of our days. Well played, Bukovak!
Hey Tom… the experience of being thrown in "last minute" can be great …sometimes !!!…. I remember doing a walk-on for a friends Bluegrass band at an outdoor festival in Northern Michigan….we played couple standards, then he asks me " do you know this song" ( can't remember the name the song )….. I say "no never heard of it"…..to which he says "ok… you get the last break then !!!"…. talk about ' ride it or die trying'….hahaha…I remember it went well, but it was case of literally closing my eyes and just going with it….pure instinct or probably luck…but hey I'll take it .. love the videos…. take care and stay safe !!!
Tom, I love what you do! And I have few things to wish for in my life, but a good one would be you making an album and maybe some shows with Michael Landau. Would love this 😎
Tom, with your session work, have you ever had a situation where what you played was so epic and cool, that it shaped the tune to the point where you ended up with writing credit? Really digging these homeskooling sessions dude, you're the friggin man!
Loved that Ian Hunter live album you showed them other night. Thank you. How about “One of the Boys”? What a rocker. I had to figure it out on my Tele ....DCG classic.
If John Doe can do it, why not you? Did you ever see that movie Roadside Prophets? He was in it with one of the guys from Beastie Boys. It was really good. Had quite a few unusual actors in it.
Hey, Tom! Lately, I've been looking at superstrats with Floyd Rose trems. I don't understand it. They don't agree with me but I can't seem to get them out of my head these days.
I can really relate to the two me’s thing. I’ve had constant imposter syndrome for years. Usually right before a gig or lesson, but it usually goes away for a bit while I’m playing.
I have a 3:00am version of me that questions e v e r y t h I n g about my life. I’ve learned to live with that version a little better over the years, but he’s always there if I wake at 3:00am. I can relate to your “2:30am Tom”.
Hi Tom, thank you so much for your wisdom. Your videos have pulled me out of a funk that I have been in for about 7 years now. You’ve made music and guitar so interesting for me again!! I have a question: what makes a good acoustic guitar player? You’ve mentioned before that it should be approached differently. Thank you.
I’ve gotta tell you, Tom. There’s nothing better than listening to you play the song that I played to the song I wrote to the song you played to the song you wrote. Can’t wait to see your movie roll! Shoot us a link once released. Cheers!
Hah ha I thought that sounded familiar!
Did we just get an official homeskoolin’ theme?
@@mikebedik3686 me too!
Spence, I was cracking up thinking what you might have been thinking and feeling when Tom let loose with that - so made my morning, hell, and day for that matter :)

Buck And Evans Looking forward to the unboxing video..
Now you know how we all feel watching you Chris. 😉🖖🏼
Where's the 62.... gotta hear this thing with pickups
Now that is a nice NGD! Can't wait to see a demo.
This has my full support - Chris we can’t wait to hear it !!
Sounds awesome for a phone hey?
I have to ask my fellow Bukovites, would you go and watch "an evening with Tom Bukovac" at your local theatre, once we are able to congregate again in, I dunno, 2022?
The Humbucker Chronicles yes!
Heck yeah! At guitar house in Tulsa...
I’d bring everyone I know!
100%
Absolutely! That would be killer!
I need you to launch that 335 into my guitar collection because it ain't no chopper. Another amazing video.
Haha,don't think that's gonna happen :-)
100% your fault I'm here...and subbed. ;-)
For those that haven't, check out the video from a few years ago of Tom playing "Goodbye Porkpie Hat " Killer !
"Getcha some Tom Bukovac baby"
Hell. Yes. Thursday has become exponentially less shitty. Thanks Tom

Indeed.

Inspiring show to say the least!

Thanks Tom for sharing all your knowledge, while being unable to gig for 2 months its kept me stretching my practicing , cheers and stay safe!
I always hit thumbs up before the minute mark cause I'm so stoked for a new vid. This is better than Netflix.
Another great lesson! Thanks brother. Cheers. You are making this shit bearable....🍻🍺🎸
Hey Tom. Can you show us some muting techniques? Muting is what makes playing slide so hard for me and so many others.
Yep thats what kills me too
Hey Tom, just to say having to wait more than a day for a video SUX!!! Man, lovin the content and vids.
Hi Tom. It is wonderful that you share your inner thought processes. I bet there are many more viewers in addition to me who can relate to what you experience. Love everything I've heard out of Easy Eye... sounds like a wonderful place all around. Yola's album blew my mind. Faraway Look still brings chills up the back of my neck every time.
Totally enjoying the videos. Met you a couple of times at your old shop with my pal, Phil Bennett. Oh yeah, just got my tee shirt!
Love the videos! Please keep doing them.
Hi Tom,
Maybe it is only me, but I think you are like a guitar version of ‘The Dude’.
That is really cool about the collab with Rolling Rock! Good for you man
That's your album dude, the two yous. Love the way you framed that, the 2:30am version of us, so true
Seattle WA the sun is shining as well !!!
I would love it if you would do some instructional videos explaining how you think when you’re improvising over the loops in your videos. Licks, scales, how you navigate the fretboard etc. would be awesome!
Excellent description of the 3 main types of studios in Nashville.. Jay Joyce, his band Bedlam was so great! Way ahead of their time. Doug Lancio!!!
Holy crap. You just completely identified my 2.30am 2nd string me.... Glad I'm not the only one..
Make a shirt that quotes "Rhythm guitar. Ever heard of it?" !
Take my money.....would love one of those...
I'm in !
Tom, I love what you do! And I have few things to wish for in my life, but a good one would be you making an album and maybe some shows with Michael Landau. Would love this 😎
You're "Two me's" reminded me of the Bukowski poem Bluebird. Thanks for the skoolin'.
Jacques Hacerias fucking amazing poem
Thanks again Tom. I think I’m drinking more beer cause of you cheers 🍻
My friends and I spent most of our twenties quoting Deniro in Deerhunter when we'd buy a round. "I'll get ya a Rolling Rock. Good beer. Best around."
Tom, with your session work, have you ever had a situation where what you played was so epic and cool, that it shaped the tune to the point where you ended up with writing credit? Really digging these homeskooling sessions dude, you're the friggin man!
what a fantastic story about dan! also, we need to see you act in the film, please
My 3am me nearly ruined my life. Damn it's good to hear this from someone else.
Robert Baker turned me on to you best find so far 2020 great stuff thanks
Little Tommy Bukovac. Throwin down on some new stuff. Props.
Loved that Ian Hunter live album you showed them other night. Thank you.
How about “One of the Boys”?
What a rocker. I had to figure it out on my Tele ....DCG classic.
That slide solo you did in Life of Illusion (Walsh Tour) was awesome,
That was my favorite intro rif yet!
If John Doe can do it, why not you? Did you ever see that movie Roadside Prophets? He was in it with one of the guys from Beastie Boys. It was really good. Had quite a few unusual actors in it.
Too funny with acting story!!!! Thank you Tom!!!
"That's cool, right? I do that all the time." Needs to be printed on one of your t shirts
Great stuff Tom.
Which album did you work on for Dan? I love all his work through Easy Eye.
every morning... Home-skoolin'...look forward to it! Dig! Also - "2 mes" - oh yeah! :)
"i've always thought it was cool; it looks like a pizza stain" lMAO this is amazing
Hey, Tom! Lately, I've been looking at superstrats with Floyd Rose trems. I don't understand it. They don't agree with me but I can't seem to get them out of my head these days.
Floyds are like big houses, the best way to get over them is to get one.
that sounds so badass about the studio site unseen playing :)
way to go Ryan and young Drew!! Getting creative!
Thank you.
Wow. You are providing relief while drinking Rolling Rock and now Rolling Rock is providing relief too! Schweet!
