Hi everyone, this is a video reviewing a Reate OG Exo and comparing it to my $40 fake that I got on AliExpress.

They’re both 3mm** in thickness, not 30mm. I misspoke!
Also - there is now a 4” version of the clone available for those wanting one. I ordered one and am planning to do another video soon.

You’re welcome! For the price I don’t think it’s a bad knife. The only downside is the D2 steel but i hope you enjoy it. There’s very little that could go wrong with it. Take care!

@@gigilacolooking at the tanto version right now. D2 isn’t half bad, it’s the highest end steel I currently own. My daily before that was 8cr, still going strong. My normal otf is 440C (not terrible either. I think $50 for a d2 blade is great, based on Civivi knives with d2 being about that much. (Sometimes less)
The orig one is good example how they milk knife collectors for money 😂😂
Setting aside comparing it to the clone for a second. That was probably the best review of the exo that I have seen. Or at least covered the wiggle and rattle better then any other review that I have seen. Kinda shocking comparing the clones to the originals and seeing how often the cheap clones seem to have tighter tolerances than the originals. Especially considering the price. Thanks as always.
Thank you again for your support! Hearing that my reviews are helping people really means a lot to me. I mean that sincerely. As for your comment about clones often being close to the original - I absolutely agree. I remember getting my first Microtech after using a fake for some time and thinking “wait - did I just get another fake?”. Bit of a shock but there are times when the fake is as good if not better than the original. The Vespa scarab, for example, is better than the original from my experience.
Thats crazy how close they are given the price differences. Just bought a $40 clone myself, and i hope its as good as yours seems to be.

Wait do all reate gravity knives have that much blade play or is yours from bladeHQ defective? I've seen probably 10 video reviews on reate exo and I don't think anyone pointed that out. I always wanted one but there is no way I would pay for a knife with a blade that loose.
From what I’ve been told, the smaller models are better when it comes to rattle although I don’t know by how much. The blade on the OG model is so loose that I think it’ll impact function honestly. Take care and thank you for your comment!

Я могу не понять. Я купил настоящий нож и подделку. Я хотел такой же размер для подделки, но, к сожалению, они их не производят. Оригинальный нож меньшего размера покупать не хотела, потому что мне нравится больший, да и стоил он дорого) спасибо за комментарий)
If the clone has a reversable pocket clip that would be amzing. I know it wouldnt be a big deal jjst to carry it left handed as is because by design u can just blade would be faci g wrong way lol. Great video mate

Since the algorithm likes comments lol. Which store did you use? Was looking at the one on jufule. After watching some (most) of your other videos I did order a hifinder delta frag combat troodon. Figured I would wait to see if they adjusted the blade shape on the big dragon like you mentioned. Thanks.

@@GigiEDC Have not received it yet. Will See how the shipping to Colorado goes. I got the D2 tanto Delta Frag. I love the dagger shapes but from a user standpoint the geometry of the dagger is a bit lacking. So got the tanto as a user/abuser and I think will wait and get the Gen 3 with the dagger since it has the longer blade. Guess also see how the over all alixpress purchase goes since it is my first order there. Thanks again.
I hope you like them! Tantos are definitely more practical. If your tanto D2 is a HiFinder, you’ll probably like it. I’ve had good experiences with them. Hopefully Vespa will come out with a single edge Gen III CT soon as well. In the mean time I’m thinking about picking up a Vespa Scarab single edge. Just talked to the guy from CHEEDC - Vespa apparently fixed the issue. I just bought one and I’ll update when it arrives!

I love it! This is the same model that’s sold on Amazon, they also just released the 4” version available on DHgate. I talked them into making it and I’m waiting to get it in.
I have 4 exos i love them. Now when talking about the rattling and loosness. If you grip that knife the rattling goes away so when you are using it it is solid more solid then any otf because you can controll the pressure applied to the blade. Which most it not all OTF habe blade play when in hand. In my opinion so what as long as its solid when i have it in hand. Its the mechanisim that attracts me to it ...i can hanfle a little rsttle

usually most machined titanium products like the new iphone is around 75% aluminum to 25% titanium since its so hard to machine otherwise.
hi Gigi, love your content and found your channel looking for good otf clones. I was surprised to see your latest video was about a knife i own too. I have a genuine one from bladehq but mine has a couple differences compared to yours. First off mine came with a clip. Second mine has significantly less rattle than yours. When holding mine normally you can hear it rattle but when im pinching it you can't hear it rattle at all and you can feel it just barely moving.
A friend of mine owns two of them so next time i see him i will do the same rattle test you do to all three of them and upload it.

Hopefully I’ll post some more videos soon, and yes the same thing applies to this knife here (genuine one) - when holding it closed there’s very little rattle. Looking back, maybe I was a bit too harsh on this knife but I felt the blade play to be unnecessarily excessive. I don’t think it would’ve caused a failure though. @@GigiEDC I don't think you were too harsh or anything like that. I like that you seem to know a lot about these and can spot flaws pretty effortlessly. I prefer honest criticisms. I was just pointing out that mine didn't rattle like yours. I haven't hung out with my friend that owns two yet so i haven't been able to compare them all yet but i will when i can.

Auto OTFs have a spring to overcome the friction. Pure gravity needs some play to operate
Absolutely my friend but this knife in particular has no spring, it’s a gravity knife. Yes some blade play is to be expected but should be within reason unlike this particular Exo. Take care!

@@davidcsudom Good question! They’re not showing the side with the lock on AliExpress. For shipping reasons they usually don’t show pictures of the lock but you can always message them and ask for a picture. Take care!
The exo m does come with the same looking clip. To be honest, that's a pretty good fake. Im still going to purchase the exo mini just to complete the set.

An all titanium body justifies the $300 price; however, there should be NO blade play and the safety switch better give feedback.

You are comparing a clone of Exo-M (3.25" blade) with a geniune Exo (3.75) version. The clone is a great fidget tool but unfortunately it has unusable stiffest clip and the knife prone to open in a pocket to bite your hand with very sharp tip in case you don't put a safety lock on.
Yes, you’re right! Originally I had the names of both in the title but it seemed too wordy so I changed it. Not exactly apples to apples but I thought it would at least demonstrate differences in quality, You’re absolutely right about the pocket clip too, great observation. I forgot to mention that - it really is unbelievably stiff. Take care!
I have a real EXO-M. Doesn't have nearly the slop of your larger one. Small amount of play and when gripped it has none.
