- Wassup! After recently watching The Animated Transformers movie, we found that this movie maybe a bit too dark for kids. Maybe. Plus they killed Optimus Prime just to boost toy sales, bleh.

Reflector wasn't killed in the movie. He disappeared after the end of the 1st Season and was never seen again. In TV terms, he went up the stairs and never came back down.

I think in a comic it shows the fates of Reflector and Shockwave during Unicron’s attack on Cybertron
@tripplordofinconvenience9953 That comic isn't canon to the movie though, it just adds stuff from the script that wasn't added.
I saw this movie when I was 7, and it was so crazy seeing Ratchet, Ironhide and Optimus Prime die all in the same movie.
That Prowl death scene was too much as well.
Indeed, many a children were scarred from watching the movie.
I don't know why, but the deaths that really bothered me was Megatron and the jettisoned Decepticons. I mean, jeez imagine your own crew just going like, "Welp! You're no good! LEAVE!" RIP Bombshell 😅

This movie is full of nightmare fuel from beginning to the end.
I love the movie, it was my first piece of Transformers I watched when I was 3 years old in 2006. We used to religiously check out the VHS from the local library and watched it many times.
Probably one of the earliest memories of watching a movie I have is related to this film.

They killed all those characters so they could stop making that line of toys and roll out a new line of toy characters
I remember on one of my rewatches of this movie I kept pausing to see if i could point out which Autobot or Decepticon was on the screen considering there was so much going on at times

@@MeoKidoToons that may be true but we don't see him die we just see all the decepticons move away to one of the nearby planets in season 3 I can't recall the name of the planet and I have to admit I have not seen season 3 of Transformers so I am not sure if shockwave is in there but if I do find out I will let you know

Everyone hecking dies: the movie.
I always assume that any season one character that doesnt later appear in season three dies offscreen in the movie, even if this goes against the one episode where they outright say who dies, because g1 is inconsistent that way.

It’s kind of ironic (and sad) that of the three year one Autobots they choose to explicitly show survive the movie; Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Jazz, only Bumblebee would go on to have a role in season 3 and 4. Jazz made a couple of background appearances, but has no lines because his voice actor, Scatman Crothers, passed away after recording his lines for the movie, and Cliffjumper’s (as well as several other characters like Bluestreak and Teletraan 1’s) voice actor Casey Kasem left the series due to not agreeing with certain… decisions the show runners had made (cough cough the socialist democratic federated republic of Carbombya cough cough)

I'm guessing you kids aren't old enough to remember watching this in theaters and trying not to cry while all your childhood cartoon heroes unceremoniously died by one shot kills. We became men that day.
Well I did not watch at a cinema but ween I found out charackters died I did some research. Then wen I saw the scenes seeing all my fav charackters die (Weehljack, Prime, Ironhide and Prowl) I cried for a long time really said…
They weren't my childhood heroes, but I cried all the same 😢

@@TheRealAzureToastes and no. They have a lot of crossovers now because I'm pretty sure Hasbro owns them now as well. Lots of the characters often hop dimensions into loads of TF timelines for various reasons. But they generally don't take place in the exact same universe, they're usually alternate to each other but still connected through crossover shenanigans or a few notable characters.
Either way in the context of the western hemisphere who came first is sort of irrelevant because they're both localizations of imported Japanese toys slightly rebranded, and in the case of Transformers, often from entirely different lines that had no connection to each other previously before being made into Transformers. Robots are Japan's thing and they do them well so it's not surprising.
