    I had a 2004 Dodge neon similar to the one in the video and they are excellent cars, mine was for daily use and I was very satisfied with that car.

    How did you keep the flywheel from rotating while bolting it into the torque converter?

    Great time-lapse. Thanks for sharing. My 2004 SXT has 269K and I've done the normal stuff like Clutch, head gasket, timing belt and related items, and nearly every sensor on the block. It's stronger than an R/T I recently test drove. Good and simple little engines.
    I know this video is 3 years old, but did you end up having issues with the spark plug tubes and oil seepage/fouling the spark plugs? The tubes look like they were not fully seated.

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching! And no, I did not have any issues with the spark plug tubes, they did seat fully and lined up as designed with the new seals in the valve cover!

    The engine looks easy to remove! That would be fantastic since my neon needs a new motor. I found a super beat up and rusted out neon on marketplace for $750. Hopefully I can talk him down to $500 or so.

      Worth a shot if the motor is decent!

      @@TagTeamGarage So unfortunately the car is really bad. It’s full of dents and the whole thing is pretty much rust. The interior is ehh ok sorta. He sent me a clip of it running and it is running fantastic! It was idling super smooth and he even gave it a quick rev. It responded fast and sounded super healthy! How long approximately did it take you to put the engine in?

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  Год назад

      To pull the motor and put the new one in can be done in 2 days if you know what you’re doing and you take your time.
      I spent longer, taking my motor apart to refresh the internals while I had it out.

    I have a 2005 same engine your working on but have a knocking and my acceleration is close to zero but the rpm will kick to 3-4.1 with no get up.not sure where to go next to fix the problem trying to analyze everything in this video to help.taken forever to find a video like this

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  Год назад

      A few questions.
      Does the knock noise increase with RPM or go away?
      Do you know if the timing belt has been replaced on the car in question?
      Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  2 года назад +1

      Easiest to do it with the engine out of the car. The extra steps to pull it out will make rebuilding it much easier

    How was your old camshaft? I've taken apart 3 of the late model SOHC heads and the cam surfaces were mildly to severely worn on all of them. Quite like the 2.0L in spite of being very... agricultural, haha. Good video!

    • @TagTeamGarage

      One of the lobes on cylinder 1 had a pretty significant chip taken out of it, so I replaced the shaft with a new one. Weird how they wear honestly. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment!

    If anyone has a video of how to change a oil pump in a 2004 Doge neon while it's still in the car I'd love to see it

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  2 года назад

      I believe the oil pump can be changed with the engine still in the car. You will have to lower the engine a bit though as the oil pump is fairly large. You will also need special tools from mopar for removing and installing the crankshaft sprocket to get the oil pump off.

    How much does it cost to rebuild engine

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  3 года назад +1

      It was about $1500 in parts.
      The oil pump was the most expensive part at $349.
      If I had chosen to not do the labor myself it would have probably added another $1500-$2000 to pay a shop to do it. Doing it myself definitely saved a lot of money.

      @@TagTeamGarage 1500$ in parts? I thought these cars were cheap is that including the transmission ?

    • @TagTeamGarage
      @TagTeamGarage  Год назад

      I did not replace or rebuild the transmission. Nothing wrong with it. Only removed it and reinstalled it for engine access.

      Spacing and accessibility mainly like if I gotta do a water pump on an inline it's right in front with good spacing. If I gotta do one on a dodge neon or a chevy cavalier the water pump is buried than a mofo
