While not broadcast in HD, the original master Betacam tape supplied to GSN would indeed be a higher resolution than what people in '82 could see on their TV sets. I'm noticing a few patch jobs in the set background that I'm sure weren't noticeable back then to TV viewers.
A side note on the puzzle that decided the game: They could reasonably have accepted the longer answer that was given, because the group to which the puzzle referred was originally known ONLY by the name that was the intended solution.
I don't think they should have allowed Regis a second guess at the puzzle, this time just saying "the Pips". Hope they invited Willie back sometime in the interest of fairness.

I think it felt kind of odd for betty to beck on the set where she had worked for so many years on and off with her late husband allen ludden was the host of different verison of password it was password all stars and then it back to password and and then the newest version was celled password plus.
Thanks for that, but that's okay, I have 2 terabytes of space i don't even know what to do with, the files themselves are not terribly huge and uploading doesn't take to long, fortunately, so I don't mind recording them and uploading in HD. Plus, there's not too many folks who get to see the classics from an HD feed, even if the shows themselves were not taped and broadcasted through that resolution.

I always liked Tom Kennedy and he was much easier to stomach than the pompous Allen. He had much more wit and was certainly easier on the eyes. Too bad he was pigeonholed into working these game shows.
That celeb who is playing against Betty...think he may have a shot at hosting Password someday? Nah, wouldn't fly, he doesn't have the personality to host any game show, for that matter.
