- These two songs, written by Robbie Robertson and recorded by The Band, are Clapton's tribute to Robertson, who was expected to be a part of Crossroads 2023. RIP Robbie, and thanks for all the great music!
Playing with Eric are:
Chris Stainton (keyboards)
If you know others, please put their names in the comments. I want to list everyone who played, but haven't had time work on it yet.
I have no ownership interest in this video. If you have a legal objection, please let me know and I'll take it down. If you object because you don't like the music, that's not my problem today. 😹
2023 Crossroads Guitar Festival - info from Festival organizers:
All profits from the Festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons.
Since its inception, Clapton’s vision for the Crossroads Guitar Festival has been to create an event where his friends and contemporaries can have fun and perform together for the benefit of a good cause.
The first Crossroads Guitar Festival, held June 2004 at the Cotton Bowl and State Fairgrounds in Dallas, was an unprecedented collection of guitar icons from blues, rock and contemporary music. The sold-out show was chronicled in a two-disc DVD that has since gone on to become one of the world’s top-selling music DVDs. The Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 and 2010 were the second and third such concerts by Clapton and were staged at Toyota Park in Chicago. Both Festivals were filmed for DVDs and also achieved multi-platinum status. The fourth Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2013 brought the world’s best guitar players to the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York and met with huge critical acclaim, similar to the most recent sold-out festival in 2019 that was held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, a return to the city that hosted the first-ever Crossroads Guitar Festival.
Founded in 1998, Crossroads Centre, Antigua was created to provide treatment and education to chemically and alcohol dependent persons, their families and their significant others. Treatment is provided through residential care, family and aftercare programs. The pathway to recovery is founded on the 12 steps and a change in lifestyle. Crossroads Centre, Antigua also operates a halfway house in Antigua called the Bevon House and facilitates various ongoing recovery initiatives on the island of Antigua and in the Caribbean. www.crossroadsantigua.org.
Heritage Auctions has an online auction beginning November 21, 2024.

It Makes No Difference is one of my favorite The Band songs. Did they play those two sins as a tribute to Robbie Roberson?
Yes, that was a tribute to Robbie Robertson, who was listed as playing in April of this year.

Eric never forgets his Friends, often pays tribute to them : Jeff, George, Robbie..... He's a great musician whith a great soul ♥️♥️♥️
Wow.. EC still has it in spades! The band will live forever.. my twenty- something kids were weened on the Band.. They in turn will pass the music on to their kids. RIP Robbie!
The Band wrote lyrics and music of everlasting substance.
Maaaaan THIS actually made me tear up. What a lovely tribute.
On top of his obvious prowess on the guitar, Eric has SUCH a soulful voice as well !
Great to see Andy back with Eric.
there's a great interview of how Eric met Robbie in Laurel canyon when he was still with cream and how this meeting actually change his course in music and how they ended up being life long friends ,, lots of love in this right here
I,m sure everyone knows eric wanted to join The band at one point. But then he changed his mind.
Beautiful tribute to his friend robbie.❤
glad he didn't....wasn't meant to be
I am impressed that so many iconic musicians from the ‘60s (!) have maintained their chops.
❤ Great songs.. ♬ beautiful tribute to Robbie and The Band.. ♬ 🎸 👍
This is another song to keep me on the right path.❤ love much love Robbie and Eric ❤ Forever Fan ❤
Great tribute to Robbie Robertson!
Awesome sauce ! So good to see a performance of these songs and the tribute to such musical giants as The Band.
Saw him play these covers in St. Louis. Just blew my mind, like seeing the Last Waltz in theaters all over again.
It Makes No Difference is one of the best songs The Band played and Rick Danko singing it live is heart wrenching. Find the video if you can.
Really a great tribute! Thanks for share.
Eric does justice to any covers, looks like a great gig!! Cheers from Oz
Cheers from California! The first day was excellent. After realizing they had dropped the price of tickets significantly, we decided to go again. I'm glad to be able to share some of it. More coming...

Great!!!!Clapton rules!!!!The Crrosroads the best thing over the years!!!
True rocker love Eric Clapton stood up against the clot shot like a man, other rockers turned into sheep
nice tribute by eric to robbie it makes no difference one of the most heart breaking love songs ever
Nice job Eric.
I can’t think of a better tip of the cap to The Band than this.
Magnificent, stunning reading of the beautiful song "It makes no difference '
Superb heart felt vocal from E C
What a Joker/ Magician /and Transmitter born of sorrow merely giving us tomorrow !!!
This music makes me feel real good ❤
Even with a smashed index finger, the man still delivers the goods!
Awesome thanks for posting. Long live great music. Cheers!
Thank you so very much lovely lady!
You're welcome. It's a pleasure to share.
Thank you for posting. Was just a few sections over from you. Was amazing.
A tribute to Robbie…but REAL Band fans will note another person honored by Clapton…a good friend of Clapton’s…a man Too Soon Gone.
Absolutely. EC himself says how much he and Richard shared. Both perhaps shy, etc. Too bad Crossroads treatment wasn't around for Richard. As Lester Cocks says about Richard Manuel singing..."sounds like he comes right off a wax cylinder". And then later is EC honoring Muddy' as well as Berry Oakley?
I loved every second of that...🎸🎶🎵🎶💞
Love this!
Thanks R&R woman. 😊
You're welcome. It was my pleasure, truly. I'm hoping for another Crossroads!
If Eric would only play tunes he lived , rather than the hackneyed tunes of his youth which obviously bore him. Most inspired i have heard him in ? 8 years. 🤙💯
Save your neck or save your brother, gotta be a top ten line, at least to me. Robbie, rest his soul, wrote some good ones.
I appreciate these posts -- this one is the best video I've seen -- but really frustrated that none have good audio. Keeping my fingers crossed these two songs will be on the dvd !!
The 1st and ony time I saw Fairweather-Low, Claton, and East togehter on stage was on the "One More Car, One Moor Rider: tour, Billy Preston on Keys, and I believe Steve Gadd on drums. Damn, that show was in the early 2000s.
Funny how a tribute meant in the best way from a living legend who’s mission in life is to help others and preserve and promote the music that meant so much to so many can bring out moronic comments. Get over yourselves
Amen. 🙏💙💙
Wow !
It’s very nice to see k.catsoon is back what a difference I hope she stays to Katy ❤️
Richard’s voice was so great.
All 3 singers in The Band had great voices. Robbie often wrote the songs with a particular member in mind. Thus, no one but Levon could sing "When they drove Old Dixie down", only Richard could do justice to "The Shape I'm in", and certainly no one, but Rick could sing "It makes no difference", in such a heartwrenching voice, that it tears your heart out.
It is really nice to see that Katy catsoon back with clapton she make all the difference to katy 💋stay
I am so glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I saw Clapton 3 times this year.
I'm so glad, I'm so glad, I'm glad I went back to Crossroads with my best friend for the second day!
IMND is one vocal performance i wouldnt even dream of trying to match the original.
Yes, you are right, but I don't think Clapton was trying to match Rick's heartwrenching rendition, he just wanted to pay tribute to his friend Robbie.
Andy Fairweather Low back with Eric. So great to see!
ANDY FAIRWEATHER-LOWE on 2nd guitar
Fantastic tribute to the Band!As great a guitarist as Eric Clapton is Robertson's style & technique is impossible to match in these songs but still a wonderful performance 😊.
Nathan East on the bass guitar.
Seems Eric has a special respect for the musical genius of Robbie Robertson.
One great thing about EC is how he acknowledges important friends and mentors. He’s kind of a loose cannon in his personal views, many of which he has to explain or backtrack from. But, I try and separate the person from the music.
4/5th of the greatest American rock band was CANADIAN!!!!!!
Whomever was talking in the background with derogatory remarks about Eric rake a hike❤Forever Fan ❤ why did you even go?

Erin’s Kiss - for Shawn Colvin and Angel of Ireland Van Morrison with love and eternal fidelity to Blessed Eternal Ireland

Erin’s Kiss - For the very great 1st Angel of Christ America Ireland and Scotland Eric Clapton. Peace Love Bliss Nirvana Forever for you and all your beautiful blessed family and friends. We worship you Eric. Quantum kisses we float to you from the bottom of a mysterious Colvin bog in some blessed corner of eternal Scotland. We pray you'll come over. Amen
Shawn Callie Arthur
I kissed Erin last night
you know
the Goddess of Ireland
blessings she did bestow
I know it’s hard to believe
I kissed her full on the lips three times
and I did receive
a fourth for good luck
for infinite rhymes
courage and pluck
she led me to the place
with whispers through the ether
for to endow me with a garland of grace
being destined to love her
and to know well her face
all I did was to inter
the trash left around her shrine
in America
she could not alone be mine
she made it clear
but she would make my words shine
many soldiers and poets have her ear
Lyre the angel was to her left
his foot was extended
for those of faith and hope not bereft
and so he lifted me above the dead
on her right was a soldier keeping watch
the angel let me kneel on his knee
while I reached across
all rein was set free
with the sign of the cross
and a kiss from her lips
during the second kiss
she granted eternal cosmic trips
to know my twin soul and infinite bliss
she said I’d be an Irish rover
sacred love came with a third kiss
then I kissed her all over
she promised me a ring
the fourth was for good fortunes
endless words
protection and tunes
to shatter the proudest swords
she asked me to wait
while she got undressed
Erin adjusted my fate
granting me in the sight of the blessed
soon with a date
my soul was caressed
she said she’d meet me in the flesh soon
she makes love to patriots soldiers and poets
always under a full moon
I’d be marked and my lover would know it
she would appear as an angel
known as Shawn (Colvin)
whose duty would be to tell
where to wait for the new dawn
this angel would sing me into a trance
and when I awoke she would ask me to dance
safe in heaven no more to roam
my immortal beloved
with silver tears she would welcome me home
end

Freaking you tube. Don't post the wrong date and the wrong concert.
The concert and date are correct. Did you intend to comment on some other video?
Clapton, very good guitarist. Bad friend, husband and terrible scientist.
True. Art does not require the artist to be anything other than creative. Lots of others the same: musicians, painters, writers, actors…
I just read his autobiography, it seems later in life he found happiness with his wife Melia and their 3 daugthers,
Sorry, this song can only be done by one (The) Band....
Geriatric nonsense. One thing that proves EC is a real pro… he always hires a 2nd guitar that is better than he is.
Butchered!
God butchers 2 more songs

If you haven't got something nice to say , be quiet please.
but consider..the shape WE are in...so..."It Makes No Difference" 🤫
If you cannot bring good news then don't bring any.

Just shows you how good the BAND really was. You have world class musician sup there and they cant even break thru to scratch the surface and get that feeling. Andy, btw, is a fabulous guitar player, but he ain't Robertson and neither is Clapton. He is too predictable. Without Danko, they are missing that scattershot delivery. He made that band DIFFERENT.
I agree, but seeing that Clapton was a fan of The Band and a friend of Robbie's I think it is fine that he performed the songs. I think all the Band members made it different. Having said that Rick and Robbie are my favorites, and no one can sing this song like Rick.
