Director Todd Phillips said in a scene breakdown he did for Vanity Fair that music is in Joker’s soul, so this musical absolutely fits.
And Lady Gaga looks like she’s gonna be phenomenal as Harley Quinn!

Looks as good as any other movie coming out this year...actually no. Joker 2 looks much worse. So what if cinematography looks great. Many terrible wasteful movies had top cinematography.

Not really. 😂😅 he's a average comedy director who did a mediocre depressing dc film showcasing an elseworlds Joker who isn't really the Joker. Overrated boring taxi driver rip off. Todd Phillips is an okay director. This trailer is mid level artsy artsy boring. It isn't anything special. 😊

They know how to cut a trailer for these Joker films. I was completely sold before and I am completely sold again. The first Joker film was a lot because of the subject matter with Arthur, but it was good. I am very excited for this one. It's a musical and it has LADY GAGA!! I can't wait.
This film looks artistic just like first one, still has that tone but added with new things that for gif this world, definitely hyped!

Not sure if you guys remember Fall Out Boys' song called "America's Suitehearts".
The music video was them being circus characters, and there's a guy who fell into a green goo which then turned him to a crazy clown type circus master. Then a girl watching him, who I guess kinda liked him, followed him to the circus and also fell into the goo.
They then became sort of partners, that were crazy together.
It's very simillar to a Joker and Harly Quinn love story. Coincidence??

What’s great is that his smile is real at the end of the trailer. However - I think they are making us believe Harley is a patient - but is not. When she says let’s get out of here - only a Dr can take him out of the theatre.
I'm calling it now: this is going to be better than the first movie!
I'm not a fan of musicals but I'm all for creatives taking a swing and trying something different.

Thanks for the great reaction as ever John. This trailer was absolutely superb. It's not often trailers blow me away but this one did. Incredible work by the crew who cut the trailer. This movie will make a billion. I really hope it doesn't pull a Ghostbusters Frozen Empire and that PHENOMENAL lipstick end scene was just for the trailer and is not in the movie. The Joker just pulled out another ACE from his sleeve.
Lets us not forget that comic Joker is very theatrical anyway.

The opening scene of Joker sitting in the spotlight is perfect!
I think the clip at the end will be Harley pretending to be his psychiatrist to get him out of a prison sentence and to be found guilty where she will eventually get him out of easy peasy. In this version he doesn’t make her crazy they are both crazy on their own. And are drawn together because of the shared understanding of each others madness which they both can’t seem to feel with anyone else. Which is why I think they become addicted to each other like a drug.

here's my take.
that scene with the lipstick is their first encounter. I think it starts with her being a criminal psychologist (she's crazy too so it helps her understand them)who finds him interesting. a pet project. something broken she can fix. she's so persuasive she somehow gets permission to go "undercover" into Arkham and study him. And in the process falls in love with him. Eventually going to court and winning his freedom. (or its possibly all in their heads) but that's my take on it.

Trailer is chefs kiss. It looks great. Every shot especially the last one. Color palette and the over all tone. I’m only going off the trailer but I think it’ll be not only incredible to myself but a huge success. There’s something about leaning into the Mad Love theme and how Gotham is essentially theater and opera that’ll make this a perfect cocktail.
I believe the musical part of it is in their head
And lady gaga has a eccentric style of talent already
I can't explain it, but I've tried to give the first Joker a couple of tries to watch it and I've yet to get through it. I don't know why and it's baffling to me, but this trailer does look fascinating, the visuals, the glimpses of the story we get, it definitely hooked me in and has got me fascinated. I'll likely give that first one another try before I give this one a whirl b/c I will want the context of the first film. Thanks for this reaction, Rocha!

Many trailers have come out these past weeks in March and April.
Furiosa. Beetlejuice 2. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2nd trailer. Deadpool 3. Alien Romulus. Now Joker 2.
Each of them have given me some sort of excitment and curiosity..in Deadpool 3 case, i was excited and loving it.
Almost all of them are on my must see list in theaters. Except one. Joker 2. This is a sequel that just isn't sparking a single note of positive excitement for me. This trailer is AVERAGE at best. Looks like any artsy indie psycho thriller with more musical numbers. This isn't the Joker! This is Joaquin Phoenix and lady gaga playing crazy clowns. There is no Batman or gotham city lore to this pretentious "Joker flick". Todd Phillips is a hack comedy director who knows next to nothing about comics.
Joker is the most overrated villain in comics. He has not been am interesting arch foe to Batman since Scott Snyder's Batman run in 2011 to 2015. This film sequel only highlights that point further. Joker didn't even need one solo movie. Id rather see the REAL JOKER in a Batman film than another one of these lame boring depressing cbm, which only glorifies psychological trauma and mental illness.
The first Joker was not even a top 10 movie of 2019. Let alone worthy of winning any awards. This trailer is, as the gen Z'ers say, MID.
Deadpool 3 is the best comic book movie of 2024! Hands down. Alien Romulus and Furiosa and Fall Guy are more exciting than "Folis a deux" aka "Two fools get into Foolishness".
