It is unfortunate that many non-Assamese individuals, particularly those from communities such as Bihari, Bengali, Marwari, and Miya Bangladeshi, often lack an understanding of Assam’s rich cultural and historical significance. They tend to associate the region primarily with commerce and business, overlooking its profound heritage and contributions. Let me take this opportunity to highlight the true essence of Assam.
Assam is an extraordinary state, celebrated for its deep-rooted history, diverse indigenous communities, and the harmonious coexistence of tribal, hill, and plains cultures. Its heritage is unparalleled, representing centuries of traditions, art, literature, and valor. The cultural wealth of Assam is truly remarkable, reflected in its vibrant festivals, mesmerizing music and dance forms, and exquisite craftsmanship, which embody the soul of its people.
Unfortunately, due to years of neglect and underrepresentation, much of Assam's glorious history remains confined to old, forgotten texts. This negligence has hindered the world from fully appreciating Assam’s immense contributions to India’s cultural and historical fabric.
It is imperative to bring Assam’s rich legacy into the spotlight, ensuring that the traditions, stories, and achievements of its indigenous and local communities are preserved, acknowledged, and celebrated on both national and global platforms. Assam is far more than just a land of economic potential-it is a cultural treasure that deserves the respect and recognition it truly deserves.

Its very true brother. I am a Axomiya Gorkhali and I respect our Assamese culture very much. I firstly represent myself as Axomiya then I represent as a Gorkhali and I need to say this, many non Assamese people as you have mentioned above does not even respect our culture. They don't even bother to learn Assamese Language. That's a really bad thing, I feel.

GOI has made a separate entity to mainly focus on NE & East part of the Nation up to 85k crores are released to directly separate the development and for upliftment of culture and identity of tribals. Funds are also released separately and models like UP of 'One District One Product International Recognition' are adopted to cover up and pace up the gap that has been created.
Also the development in the NE region is focused with and for the National Security level. For the East states the infra are built under and in collaboration with state, centre & public entities.

I'm a Bengali, my maternal side is from Lakhimpur. My mom raised me by narrating all those stories of Assam agitation, Assamese culture, Assamese songs and Assam heritage (She's Bengali too). Even my bengali is mixed with assamese words. I'm from Barak valley, & sentiments of common Bengali aren't composed of hatred. Yes, the imposition of Assamese might widen the gap between communities. I feel, Assamese, a beautiful language shouldn't be imposed rather promote in our areas. Assam's music industry is thriving and it has the potential to bring two communities to a single page. Demographic change is real, & illegal immigration is a threat not only to Assamese but to the existing indigenous people of Assam. A common cultural exchange should be undertaken by the executive, so that we could learn the Assamese language & Bihu for understanding its beautiful nodes.

Approximately 80 lakh Assamese Indigenous Hindu OBCs are living under low-income conditions and fall into the economically weaker. I request the Central Government and the Assam Government to take necessary steps for their upliftment and ensure their socio-economic development.

@samirankalita-qi8jc Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) often receive more facilities and support from the government compared to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). However, as an Assamese indigenous Hindu belonging to a weaker, low-income group within the OBC category, I have firsthand knowledge of the ground realities. It is crucial to address the challenges faced by the OBC community and ensure equitable development and access to resources for all sections of society.

@samirankalita-qi8jcThe rising population in our state has intensified the challenges faced by the indigenous Assamese Hindu community, particularly those belonging to economically weaker sections. We urgently need increased reservation and focused developmental policies to uplift our community. Many indigenous Assamese Hindus are living in poverty and require immediate central attention to address their socio-economic challenges.

@@ilovemyassam2447 Indeed true, and the goverment must take steps for them. But now think about the general category Assameese, they are protecting their identity without the aid of reservation

    • @ilovemyassam2447
      @ilovemyassam2447 6 часов назад

@samirankalita-qi8jcThe caste-based reservation system in Assam has unique characteristics, but its dynamics are rapidly evolving. As an indigenous Assamese Hindu belonging to the OBC category, I have observed a significant disparity in how benefits are distributed. Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) currently receive a larger share of facilities and benefits under the existing framework. This system seems heavily skewed in their favor, leaving the indigenous Assamese Hindu community, especially those from the OBC category, struggling to secure equitable access to opportunities and resources.
While the introduction of the EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) certificate has provided an additional 10% reservation for economically weaker sections, the population of EWS groups is not as large as that of the OBC community. The competition within the OBC category in Assam is immense due to its substantial population. Consequently, the indigenous Assamese Hindu OBC population faces significant challenges in securing opportunities, despite their socio-economic struggles.
To improve the overall standard of living and address this imbalance, the government must prioritize allocating funds and resources to local Assamese Hindu indigenous communities. A more equitable approach is necessary to address the needs of all marginalized groups, including the economically weaker and low-income segments of the indigenous Assamese population. This would ensure that development is inclusive and fairly distributed across all communities.

It'll be completely transformed by the next 3-4 years when the projects finish. Atmosphere is also becoming calmer day by day. Only thing needed I think is a metro rail project in Guwahati! Love all. The indigenous Assamese people, including those from the OBC and General categories, undeniably deserve greater focus and benefits because Assam primarily belongs to its local, indigenous population. The definition of "local Assamese indigenous people" is indeed broad, encompassing various communities with deep historical, cultural, and social roots in the region.
Assamese history and culture are rich and diverse, reflecting the contributions of its indigenous people. From language, art, and literature to traditions, festivals, and social practices, the local Assamese population has shaped the unique identity of Assam. It is vital to recognize and preserve this heritage, as it forms the foundation of the state’s cultural and historical significance.
However, the current political and social framework often places indigenous Assamese people, especially those from the OBC and General categories, at a disadvantage. Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) receive a larger share of benefits and opportunities, which has led to feelings of marginalization among the indigenous Assamese Hindu community. At times, members of the ST and SC communities have belittled the contributions and importance of the indigenous Assamese population, which only exacerbates the divide and creates political and social tension.
This approach is neither healthy nor productive for Assam’s unity and development. Politics should focus on fostering inclusivity and fairness, ensuring that the local indigenous people, who are the backbone of Assamese history and culture, are given the respect, recognition, and support they deserve. A more balanced and equitable framework is essential to uphold the rights and dignity of all communities while preserving the rich heritage of Assam

Merely just building roads and infrastructure is not enough. We have to preserve our forest, culture, biodiversity and most importantly the indentity of Assamese people and also the various original tribes of Assam.
Assamese people nowadays lack integrity and unity among themselves as result of which it is becoming easier for the outsiders to take our fields and market.
It seems the Assamese people have forgetten the unparalleled contributions of our forefathers for this motherland.

Well, considering that Bjp has a strong grip over most of the seats of Upper Assam, it can be concluded that Assameese people do support him. It's just that the Assameese Right wing support base is relatively new, hence they are not that active on social media.

It is unfortunate that many non-Assamese individuals lack a proper understanding of Assam’s rich cultural and historical significance, often associating the region only with commerce and business. Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone of the essence of Assam.
Assam is a remarkable state, celebrated for its deep-rooted history, diverse indigenous communities, and unique harmony of tribal, hill, and plains cultures. Its heritage is unparalleled, standing as a testament to centuries of traditions, art, literature, and valor. The cultural wealth of Assam is truly extraordinary, with its festivals, music, dances, and craftsmanship embodying the spirit of its people.
However, due to years of neglect and underrepresentation, much of Assam's glorious history remains confined to old, forgotten texts. This negligence has prevented the wider world from appreciating Assam’s immense contributions to India’s heritage.
It is crucial to bring Assam’s rich legacy to light, ensuring that the stories, traditions, and contributions of its indigenous and local communities are recognized, preserved, and celebrated at both national and global levels. Assam is far more than an economic resource-it is a cultural jewel that deserves the respect and recognition it truly merits.

The BJP can strengthen its chances in Assam by focusing on the needs of indigenous Assamese people, especially OBCs and other underserved groups. While ST and SC communities have received significant benefits, many indigenous Assamese feel overlooked. By promoting better opportunities in education, jobs, and healthcare, preserving Assamese culture, supporting local businesses, and ensuring fair political representation, the BJP can build trust and gain their support.
