@@Qadi90 This video explained nothing about the true nature of the conflict. It just displays one side which is the poorer side, with no actual context of why the conflict exists in the first place. So don't think for a second you can compare it to another conflict, which you probably equally don't know the details of. And even if you choose to still know nothing about this conflict, comparing people who are part of a country being persecuted by their own government without a leadership of their own is worlds apart to Gazans who had their own election, and have plenty of foreign funding for their own people's goals (even if those goals are genocide).
As a Burmese, it's hard to imagine how we lived before 2010s. Politics was always like "big brother is watching". We hardly ever talked about it, and those who did were imprisoned or disappeared. Cell phones were like a vanity for the rich to show off. Internet was unheard of. Then came the democracy (kind of), and every aspect of our lives got better for like 10 years just before the 2021 coup. Now, full-blown civil war is brewing and it feels like our lives are regressing. It sucks to be born in this country.
I'm surprised at Johnny's ability to explain Rohingya genocide accurately. For those who wonder, the only reason military did this is it needed support from the people especially from Buddhists because at that time, people started experiencing democracy, using internet and saying how corrupt, greedy and cruel the military junta is. And military achieved its goal, but elected govt closed its eyes to the atrocities because the amount of misinformation and people's hatred to Rohingya was too strong at that time. Junta have erased Rohingya from the list of Myanmar ethnic group since 1980 so almost everyone here hadn't heard of Rohingya until 2017. All we knew at the time is they were a few thousands of Bengali people from Bangladesh who was trying to invade Myanmar. Facebook absented to stop hatred and misinformation, and still fail to perform. May be I am in denial, but I wouldn't entirely lay all the the blame on Facebook. it's the sum of paranoia, lack of ability to find information, poverty and negligence of the people. It's a slap in the face to Myanmar and her people and I am very ashamed of it. Now we are trying to eliminate military and start winning.

This is what happens when countries like Sri Lanka embrace social media sites without any regulation whatsoever. It is people who spread the hate but I have never seen an attempt to regulate (not ban) Facebook by any authority or any analysis done on the damage it caused in spreading misinformation and hate.
And why did that happen sir, was it not because of the Easter killings by isis lone wolfs, what you liberals fail to realise is that you cannot treat islam at par with others, if you find some time read the quran and learn what it has to say about the non believers/kuffars
Are you certain the lack of regulation wasn’t by design? I imagine this contempt is unfortunately still imbedded in its system. Some of the old regime or those more cunning still maintain positions of power. The original founder was forced to resign for many reasons, among them the fact that they intentionally turned a blind eye to policing not only hate speech, but coordinated gatherings through their very own invitation/RSVP system. For me one of the most absurd parts of this is that a large part of this happened when a nobel peace price winner was the leader of the country. She did nothing to stop it and denied all alegations that it happened at all.
Yea I remember being a kid and idolizing Nobel Prize winners/celebrities. Until I grew up and realized what a joke these things are. Most "heroes" the media creates are only heroes because they serve the purpose of the elites. People don't win the Noble prize by protesting against the crimes of the USA/the west.
I think she needs to have power to do anything. With all the power in the hands of the military I don't think she could've done anything But the noble peace prize is an absolute joke, no arguments there at all
May Allah restore justice for you guys. I pray that you have a better and safe and prosperous future. May Allah strengthen us in victory against the oppressors.
I was only a 6th standard student from Myanmar when the event broke out in 2017. This video is helpful to let me have a clearer view of how Social Medias can be used as tools capable of spreading hateful news and feeding propagandas to my people. My country’s been in an enormous mess and in hell for over 60 years before I was come into it. Also as a youth, I just feel so dejected that I may lose my hope for the young generation (my generation) who I wish to long for would gradually solve as many issues and corruptions as possible, idk cooperating with millennials and Gen X. *Sigh* for now, I myself might as well focus only on my education. I’ve had lots of interest in observing Economics, Geopolitics and International Relations soon after I began watching like two of your videos, Mr. Johnny Harris. And I had thrice requested you in the comment section to make a video about Myanmar, and here it comes. Thank you for hearing and finally making one!! ❤️❤️

Thanks Johnny for covering this story. I am from Bangladesh & these Rohingya issue has been a problem for our country.Hope their pain & sufferings will end one day.Much gratitude again for covering their struggle.
so, why bangladesh don't take them? from what I heard, myamnar and bangladesh are the same. they both reject rohingya. if bangladesh accept them as refugee, this issue will be solved.
@@andreas3858aSame reason as to why US doesn't want Mexican Refugees. Bangladesh is a developing economy and among the highest population density areas on Earth. Taking in refugees s not an option.
@@andreas3858aagain a country cannot take 700,000 or so people in without having to face a whole lot of problems. The unemployment is already high what are the rohingya people gonna do? Work? Where? It simply can't be done by one county. Why don't other countries step in and help bear the load? You can't just dump a bunch of people in a country. Bangladesh is a 3rd world country. Why? Cause it's not developed if it were and there were low unemployment rates and enough of everything for the people in that county you could ask the question "why don't they just take them in". And some counties do have the capability but they just choose to not take them in. Telling them to go back is bs. And the reason why they don't step up is because it's old news to them not something that will generate publicity.
The fact that we get free videos on RUclips by Johnny Harris is truly a gift. 👏👏👏👏👏 By the way, as a humanitarian gesture, I wonder why not vast, land-rich and bountiful Asia-Pacific nations such as Australia take in Rohingya people?
Johnny is truly a gifted person. Remember, the 1970 Bangladesh civil war sent nearly two 2 million refugees to Burma, four 4 million to North-East India, and half a million to Nepal.
If it is free, you are a product... I quite agree with you that land-riched, bountiful Australia would be a perfect place for the displaced Rohingya people, as a humanitarian gesture, of course.
Slavery, Colonialism and Colonization are all evil things done and benefited by evildoers. For instance, here in Singapore, a tiny island with 6 million souls lives like sardines in a can, where else in nearby vast bountiful Australia which is ten thousand times 10,000 bigger with a mere 27 million inhabitants. I absolutely agree. Why don't Rohingya people be accepted to the vast bountiful Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region? After all, these are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people. 😔
Just to let you know that land-rich, vast and bountiful Asia-Pacific nations such as Australia with a mere 26 million mainly Anglo European population is an ideal resettlement country for Rohingya people.
@@olefella7561 Let me repeat one more time that land-rich, vast and bountiful Asia-Pacific nations such as Australia with a mere 26 million mainly Anglo European population is an ideal resettlement country for Rohingya people.
Facebooks is a Lawless place, it's a shame Facebook will never see the repercussions their platform caused. I hope the Rohingya people will find a place in this world where they can live in peace. Thank you Johnny for supporting them and publicising this story.
Rohingyas are not angels. They started attacking, burning and raping women first. But since Myanmar is the majority and the military backs its citizen. Ofcourse the Rohingyas lost in the end. Both sides have been wrong, but that doesn't mean one side is good and the other is evil. Rohingyas also killed innocent Hindus hundreds of them
This is not an accident but by design. I would not be surprised if this had been just a test run to see if you can destroy a nation with this kind of crap.
@@kayceecheang2726 Alot of information seems to be left out. He doesn't show the date of those monk videos, they were made after the conflicts. The Rohingya conflict started with the rape & murder of Ma Thida Htwe by three Rohingya men in 2012, followed up on 3 June Myanmar mob attacked a bus in Taungup that killed 10 Rohingya men. On 8 June exactly 3:50 pm after Friday prayers, thousands of Rohingya Muslims flooded the streets in Rakhine state, and started attacking and burning buildings. On 9th June the riot spread and the entire country got wind of it. (WHY DID HE LEAVE THIS CRUCIAL INFORMATION OUT)??? On 10 June, a state of emergency was declared across Rakhine. By then all hell had broken loose, but in the end, Rohingyas were pushed back since the country is Myanmar's majority, and the military sided with the obvious. He made it sound like only one-sided needed to be blamed and the monk as well. Also Facebook, RUclipsrs also block comments or posts that show facts that Rohingyas weren't exactly the victims. The information got blocked by Facebook & RUclips showing violence from both sides. I'm disappointed he wasn't able to dig deep enough and show both sides of the conflict. Why did he purposely leave out the atrocities done by ARSA (Armed wing of Rohingya), they even massacred hundreds of Indian background Hindus which was reported by Amnesty International and all over the news. They had nothing to do with Myanmar locals or the Myanmar military. Yet ARSA still slaughtered them. If anything i said is untrue, please let me know. I'm happy to provide evidence.
I've visited the camps of Rohingya few times. Some of my friends are NGO workers, who regularly helping these people. But when you have more than a million group of people, crime also finds its way. These camps became the hub for drugs and illegal weapon smuggling, and other crimes. Now things are getting complicated for local Bangladeshi people. I hope this situation resolve soon.
Thank you, Johnny Harris, for this enlightening video. It's akin to a historical lesson that will resonate for future generations. The necessity to recognize and denounce extremists within every society and religion cannot be stressed enough. As a Muslim, my focus had primarily been on extremism just by the burmese military. However, today, I've gained awareness about the presence of hate speech, extremism, terrorism, and Islamophobia among Buddhists. It's disheartening to witness government involvement consistently resulting in negative outcomes. Perhaps the most startling revelation was the lack of international coverage or outcry. It highlights the disparity in global attention and protests concerning issues in Southeast Asia, particularly those affecting Muslims.
Im a Buddhist originally from Sri Lanka, none of the other Buddhists I know are Islamophobic and most of my friends are Muslims, but I am living in a western country so maybe its not representative of the truth. The extremist "Buddhists" in Myanmar are not true Buddhists in the same way that isis are not true Muslims. What's happening in Myanmar is genocide and ethnic cleansing just like what Israel is currently doing to Palestine.
Thank you, Mr. Johnny, for shedding light on Rohingya crisis, a humanitarian issue that has been neglected and forgotten by the world. I wholeheartedly commit to advocating for substantial and impactful global initiatives to aid the Rohingya community in their pursuit of returning to their homeland and reconstructing their lives with the safety and security they rightfully deserve.
The entire concept of “Buddhist extremist violence” was the thing that finally broke me of the illusion that ideas themselves have inherent power and morality. It’s all about the people implementing them. All religions and ideologies have great good and great evil that can come from them. What matters is what you do.
@@sickomode6440I bet there are Jainist extremists in the world. If you or anyone else is unaware, Jainism is a faith tradition that came out of the same “soup” of ideas that Buddhism and more modern forms of Hinduism come. It has a lot of the same jargon (karma, dharma, reincarnation, etc) but a different spin on things, similar to how we in the west tend to categorize Buddhism And Hinduism together but as distinct concepts that are related. Many Hindus see the Buddha as a reincarnation of some god or another….and Jains are notable for how their monks wear face masks and carry brooms to sweep the ground in front of them to prevent themselves from harming even the smallest insect. I bet someone somewhere has “twisted” this into justification for violence so a peaceful world can be “made”.
(@@dstinnettmusic ) Watching this video made me snap back to reality. There will be extremists everywhere, unfortunately. For example, my religion, Sikhism, has extremists too, which I didnt really realise until about a month ago. Thank you for sharing about Jainism!
@@-YOUNG_MASTER-😂😂 This comment is literally the embodiment of hate speech and misinformation that is highlighted in the video. Muslims make up 15% of Indian population. They have made up significant percent of the country since independence in 1947. No one in India is demanding sharia law. In fact, a Hindu nationalist party is in power for the past decade. A party who's members call immigrants "termites". A party who's ideological grandaddy (RSS) is literally based on the SS of Nazi Germany. Same I amBangladeshi too. Sad to see the state of rohingya minorities. But sadly they sometimes commit crimes inside of Bangladeshi camps to earn their bread, and in such case majority people of Bangladesh fears them and fear breeds hate. The policy of taking "burden of other nations" inside of Bangladesh isn't popular here too and fear mongering is constant. So they might not just stay here for long as well. The humanitarian policy might not be forever.

Thank you for making this video. The basis of democracy is that people from different camps and with different thoughts can discuss and have conversations. However, social media filters out content that doesn't align with our preferences, trapping people in information bubbles. Hatred grows between people of different faiths / political beliefs / race. This coupled with the lack of moderation, creates a pattern that repeats over and over in both developed and developing countries. It is certainly one of the main reason for the proliferation of extremism and populism in the 21st century.
Well said. Notice that polarization of people was relatively mild between 2000-2010. In 2012, Facebook went public. In 2014, India elected a far-right anti-Muslim leader called Narendra Modi who had mastered the art of social media. In mid-July 2016, Brexit happened. In Nov 2016, Donald Trump, against all odds, became the US president. It was only because of Covid that Trump lost in 2020. Ironically, it seems like products of democratic, capitalistic societies i.e. Facebook, Twitter et al, will one day bring an end to democracy & capitalism.
Thank you for highlighting this; excellent journalism. The issue was previously discussed on Last Week Tonight. In countries with large populations, such as Bangladesh, Facebook can be extremely dangerous. We've witnessed numerous incidents, both good and bad, triggered by Facebook, like the recent Durga Puja event. We need more robust solutions rather than solely relying on foreign corporations. Some initial solutions could be: 1. Fact-checking the most shared or linked posts. 2. Engaging the local community in fact-checking, as they better understand the context, and rewarding them for their efforts. 3. Local fact-checkers could escalate dangerous posts for further scrutiny. 4. Prioritizing fact-checks and community feedback in UI so they don't get lost, unlike comments that vanish when people start sharing them. 5. Allow individuals to rate the level of danger associated with posts.
Exactly. However, those suggested solutions are great in theory though difficult in practice. For one, people are not necessarily interested in facts just b/c they're locals, even if they understand the context better. I'm just thinking e.g. how many in the US are woefully (and often proudly) misinformed on various domestic (local) issues. Altogether, it's the principal reason why numerous countries such as China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Thailand, etc. have either blocked or limited it/censored content.
This video was incredible! But also, VERY alarming. My dad uses Facebook as his primary source of information and the algorithm gives him more and more "news" which are claims by random people on the internet, with of course, lack of any proof. I don't know if it's age or education, but he believes everything he reads and I have a tough time explaining that what is being said online isn't true. The problem with all of this is that many people just like my dad (both old and young) fall into the same category. It's easier than ever to manipulate the masses, yet nobody seems to realize it.
Mhm critical thinking is an essential skill. Traditional media has a quality and truthfulness problem as well, in part because it must reproduce the statements of politicians and various interest groups as they are, in part due to individual mistakes and biases of the people involved. But of course a random dude on the Internet is fundamentally so so much worse. Age? I suppose so, particularly people gain deeply ingrained beliefs with time that will never ever be questioned, and they can be hijacked. You can be told a truth, or something you believe to be the truth, and then chained a series of ever progressively more corrupt payloads to it. Though this has a scary efficiency with young people as well, but after a couple years they generally begin to question the foundations of their belief framework.
@@SianaGearz Love the answer! But in both cases... are we doomed? Basically, older people have a concrete understanding of things so it's either they fully agree or completely disagree, and younger people don't have enough information to confirm whether something is true or not. If there was a way to do it, how would we challenge society as a whole to think critically about future events?
@@BluEyedRaven hey I'm struggling myself to keep an open mind, but not so open that the brain falls out! I'm not equipped to cure society. But I think people can be reached with counter arguments. It takes numerous tries and is very risky. And with old people you have to start dismantling them from the middle or the end not from the foundation. Even if the foundation might not change substantially, a lot of the garbage tacked on top can. Myself being an Ashkenazic Jew of Bulgarian ancestry, citizen of Ukraine, living in EU for most of my life, originally from the East of Ukraine, Russian speaking, you might imagine that well uhh I've seen people harbor harmful beliefs and I've seen people change their minds, the whole Russia Ukraine Israel Palestine Gaza and Balkan (Serbia Bosnia Albania etc) are just ever present topics.
The indifference shown towards the Rohingya people by the broader Burmese population, myself included, created an opening for the military to orchestrate a coup, leading to widespread suffering throughout the entire country. We can only hope that our neighbors and individuals across the region learn from our situation, as well as from the injustices in the Middle East, and raise their voices against such wrongdoings and hold those responsible accountable. In today's world of geopolitics, conflict is just a few missteps away.
Watching this content makes me realize more and more how disconnected we are from reality in the USA. We make oceans out of puddle, fight over issues that, although meaningful to some people, are largely self-centered, and forget that there are real crises going on in the world. We need to realize that there are more important issues to look out and speak out for. This are the real issues we should be campaigning against. This is what real hate speech looks like. This is what we should really be trying to prevent.
American media is way too insular and isolationist. I was shocked by how little actual news from outwith the States gets airtime compared ro other nations. Especially here in the UK. Yeah there's plenty of UK based news stories but there's lots of international stuff alongside it too. Something I rarely ever seen in the US. There may be a token international piece for a brief minute or so and that's about it. Sad really. It's something that needs to change. That's why so many people now turn to independent journalists and 3rd lattices to source news. Although that too can be a bad thing if the person giving the info has a bias.
Not only for the Rohingya but also for the ethnicities in Myanmar, the military and its leaders of Myanmar have been truly evil since 1988, the major revolution of 8888. So far, until now, this thread has been more and more violent to citizens like China to Taiwan. I deeply appreciate this document and I'm a big fan of you Johnny. I wish, throughout your video, the world could see the tension around the world even some faded cases like this. I hoping for the next vd from your channel. Peace...
If we make sure these CEOs of these big tech companies can actually face jail time for the suffering they cause they'll think twice about it instead of trying to make a profit. Thank you Johnny for everything your doing
If the post office was responsable for delivering hateful handwritten letters (without being able to read them) and this would lead to murders, would you call on the post office being held responsable? Or, you know, the people who did the murders? This propaganda push to be pro censorship and hold the communication technology responsible excuses the actual murderers and is the best thing that could possibly happen to dicators and future genociders because they'll be in charge of the censorship. Imagine Facebook being moderated at that time with the Rohingya, who would be the likely ones to decide what gets through? The Rohingya? ... obviously not, but the majority and we know what they thought. The problem is never never never *never* free speech.
I'm from Myanmar. This video is exactly, meticulously what has happened in Myanmar. I couldn't believe more Johnny Harris. ❤ All people from Myanmar are now regretting what they had done to Rohingya. All of them were misinformed and propagandized. Myanmar Military has been using religion and race as a tool to propaganda.
Rohingya are not all that good, this video is very much lacking a lot of information, Rohingyas themselves caried out religious cleaning in their own ethnicity, Rohingya had a small amount of Hindu and Christian population also and when the Rohingyas were being pushed out of Burma these people killed thousands of Hindus and Christians and raped many Hindu women while on the move to leave the country, they killed almost all the Hindu Rohingyas to such levels that today people associate Rohingyas with only Muslim population.
I never knew this and I'm glad I know now. I think everyone should be aware of this aside from mainstream news. Thank you Johnny for sharing these facts despite the dangers. W man right here.
As a Bangladeshi citizen we also see the brutality of the Burmese people/military toward Rohingya first hand. We Bangladeshi people are poor, but we somehow managed to help them and gave them shelter and food. Not a single developed country helped us or praised us for what we did and No one taking the responsibility to take Rohingya people back to their home country. Right now millions of them residing in Bangladesh with no earning source and envolving in crimes to make living.
This video is incredibly eye-opening and thought-provoking. It's crucial for us to reflect on how social media platforms can be used to manipulate, divide, and incite violence on a large scale. The insights shared here are a stark reminder of the power and responsibility these platforms hold. It's not about blaming them entirely, but about understanding the need for accountability and regulation in a digital age. We must all work towards a safer, more responsible online world. Hi, I am a Burmese and I have been following your contents since your Vox days. Thanks for covering this subject. It was around my teenage when all of this happened. I was also brainwashed by those radical Buddhist monks. They also established Children's education centers around the country in a name of teaching Buddhism but in reality they taught about how Rohingya and Muslims are bad and terrorists etc. I attended once when I was 12/13. I got my first smartphone when I was 17(2017). I still believed those hate speech until I went to Uni and learnt anthropology. Our education is so censored that I didn't even learn about WW2 and Holocaust until Uni. Now because of 2021 Coup, most of the youth in Myanmar acknowledge and apologize the Rohingyas for these atrocities. Now they are fighting the same Military they were brainwashed by.
Thank you for your comment. Could you put it into context, explain how this happened? Why could you as peace-loving Buddhists believe that people of another religion would want to kill you? And why did this Buddhist monk spread these lies?
Though as a poor American I didn't cause FB to ruin your countries politics, I'd still like to apologize, most Americans aren't like Zuckerberg and other multi-billionaires. I hope you guys find a path to peace ✌️

I hope that this video will bring more attention to global viewers while other conflicts overshadow it. Thanks Johnny! The ongoing civil war in Myanmar could also use a re-telling instead of being buried. I met the kindest people there in my two visits. I was lead to believe that another superpower country is also involved because of access to resources and future seaports in the Rohingya region coast.
Thank you for spreading awareness about so many different, but often very important, subjects. I would not have known any of this was happening if not for you. Keep up the good work! Also, massive props to the music creator. The emotional build-up really amplified the message.
this is exactly what we need everyone focusing on one world issue and suddenly being surprised when another issue is raised , every country should be given a fair share of a attention
I've been following your channel for a couple of years and today I see you highlighting my country. Thanks for addressing this serious issue; we are already suffering a massive population boom and this refugee crisis is no less than a burden for us. Yet, we Bengalis are always welcoming to people fleeing to survive. Our government has said that since we could manage 170+ million people, we can try to support a few million more. Long live Bangladesh and the Muslim brotherhood 🇧🇩
We never knew about this, either they never pay attention to that back then, or whatever it is, there's possibility people out there who does not want that crisis to be known around the world even after all these years, despite few journalists had tried to warn Facebook (in hindsight they should have sent this to the news media instead). Idk if the latter case would be the case.
This exact same thing has been happening in India as well. People on social media is being flooded with either hinduphobic and Islamophobic (if they are Muslims and Hindus respectively). If their is even a small occurrence of violence within ethenic groups, fake news starts immediately causing more violence on both sides (as seen with Meitei and Kuki tribes during violence in Manipur, one of the Indian states). There is all sorts of extremist ideologies which undermine secularism all together. One demanding Gazwa-e-hind (Islamic India) or Hindu rashtra (Hindu India). Then there is politics being played on these issues. Which divides religions, ethenicities, casts, and others sects of people. Intellectual thoughts are undermined with stupid words naming and classifying people based on ideologies all the while media actively adds on to narratives instead of talking about unemployment or poverty. All is not bad in India. We still are a democratic country and we wish for a bright, better and a unified future ❤️
and the current government (BJP) is also helping fuel this even more to sow more division among Hindus. Only if Facebook and other big social platforms were forced to moderate misinformation more strictly. But we all know Modi wouldn't want that.
@@kavishbansal Next year is the elections. Not only BJP other parties as well would have dedicated IT cells to win and brainwash their vote banks. Restricting hate speech would be losing easy votes and instead to start focusing on other 'smaller issues' like education, healthcare and development 😔
@@kavishbansalToo much of appeasement politics and treating Hindus as second class citizens is also the result of this division. That's the reason someone like Modi came to power. Not like Modi is doing anything special for the Hindus but that's about it. All major terror attacks in this country happened before Modi came to power including numerous riots. But you all were oblivious to it since there was no social media. People always had this resentment but it is showing its true colours in the age of social media.
@@Dr.SyedSaifAbbasNaqvi Interesting take 👍🏻. But I think in a country where 80% of the citizens are of one group and regular elections are carried out, it is almost impossible for any government to treat them as "second class citizens". Also just like in Myanmar, resentment among people for opposing group is always present but social media fuels and spreads propoganda to such an extent that it no longer remains as just 'resentment'
Thanks Johnny. I’ve been heartbreakingly fascinated by this topic since 2017 and am so glad you gave it your touch and are able to spread the word of this tragic situation. The cruelty of the Tatmadaw and indoctrinated people is something I can’t believe exists in today’s age and I’m saddened that 1 million people will never see their homes again or as it they used to be.
Aye, though we do have to be careful to not go the other way round. There are rumours that people with legitimate concerns against the Western government have been silenced on the internet, ones that try to reason and have debates too. Hate speech is wrong but full silencing on the platform would also be wrong as well as it creates groups that would find alternative means to communicate and become more fanatic in their own sphere of influence .

There are always two sides to a story..Why can't Rohingya live peacfully where they were? Buddhist are supposed to be most peaceful. When they came to India - there was issue with of the locals who sheltered them. Then in New Delhi they are living on fake Aadhar cards..I mean as one community is considered backward or minority they get to be illegal and the shole world supports them. But when CAA is announced there are protests in India to prevent Hindus from coming to India. This double standard is the reason why there is still some animosy. If all people are treated equal and by fair logic...there will be less issues.

Now, full-blown civil war is brewing and it feels like our lives are regressing. It sucks to be born in this country.
I'm surprised at Johnny's ability to explain Rohingya genocide accurately. For those who wonder,
the only reason military did this is it needed support from the people especially from Buddhists because at that time, people started experiencing democracy, using internet and saying how corrupt, greedy and cruel the military junta is.
I almost became a Buddhist when i was looking for a religion with out blood shed (silly me) but upon doing my research read about the genocide of the Royhingya incited by a Buddhist monk. I used to respect Buddhism for its practice of inner peace and doing no harm to others. Boy, my eyes were opened!
Just asking, but you want to follow a religion based on no bloodshed, not whether it's actually truthful?
Being true is one of things i was looking for; the basis like it's impossible to reconcile peace harmony and love and then there be bloodshed. Most belief systems preach peace but are untruthful because once you start reading up ok it people paid with their lives. I made a concise comment to be brief but in no way am saying that's the only thing I was looking for. Edge question

It is Sunnat for every muslim to follow the words of Prophet Muhammad as he is Uswa Hasana and al-Insaan al-Kamil. You will not be able to provide me references from Buddisht scripture to justify that extremism stems from that, a Buddisht extremist is an individual call but an Islamic extremist is coming from Islam itself. I sincerely appreciate your invaluable contribution of information. Burmanization has left a lasting impact in Myanmar, where a significant portion of the population remains influenced by the military dictatorship, even in the wake of the 2021 military coup. It's encouraging to see that minority communities, such as the Rohingya and ourselves (ethnic minority groups), are standing resilient in our quest to safeguard our identities and resist military oppression. Recognizing the extent to which we've been subjected to decades of military indoctrination, we're taking a strong stance to break free from these chains and strive for a more inclusive and democratic Myanmar. but it's hard to achieve democratic Myanmar unless everyone in Myanmar know the truth.

The problem lies within Islam is pure ignorance.
The mentioning of Muslim is also pure ignorance.
The mentioning of Jihad is also pure ignorance.
The mention of "only" Myanmar military or such is also ignorance.
The mentioning of other countries and justified the Islam and Muslim is pure ignorance.
You can addressed them as terriost if they're not "within" the terms of Islamic Jihad/the Rule of Jihad.
Putting this aside in this case, which I needed to learn more about Rakine Muslim and the mentioning of killing innocent people.

My breaking down point is simple.
You can't justified the terrorist with another terrorism.
For example. ISIS etc etc with majority of Islam.
Otherwise 969 movement which emerge from the Buddhism can be considered the buddhist religion is terrorist.
You can't claim something they're bad when you don't know them.
In my Case Islam and Muslim.
In your case, Social Media.
If you want to compare the terriosm you should know where it all started, which completely going to break down your argument.
But terrorism is terrorism. All in all they're bad no matter where it started or how.
And I think you're being influenced by the western media/social media.
And you think you can talk about how they called you "Islam phobic" if you talk about how Islam is this or that, or free speech is concern, there's no perspective of Muslims free speech otherwise all the western propaganda would be as clear as days.

This is stupid. The only one to blame here is the Myanmar government.

And Hinduism together but as distinct concepts that are related.
This will never work. History proves that different people can hardly coexist. Democracy eventually becomes mob rule.

Those are good ideas
They realize it but the hold on us is so strong we are trapped.
Yea it’s a big problem for lots of people. I hope we will start to teach media literacy and critical thinking in schools
The US has been fighting Muslims for 20+ years
American media is way too insular and isolationist.
Thank you Johnny for everything your doing
they will go bankrupt if we do that

And what about pdf who is responsible for dividing the world into muslims and kaafirs? And r@ping a 9yr old girl?

All people from Myanmar are now regretting what they had done to Rohingya. All of them were misinformed and propagandized.
Myanmar Military has been using religion and race as a tool to propaganda.
Told that to the people that lost their head chopped during the time
Rohingya are not all that good, this video is very much lacking a lot of information, Rohingyas themselves caried out religious cleaning in their own ethnicity, Rohingya had a small amount of Hindu and Christian population also and when the Rohingyas were being pushed out of Burma these people killed thousands of Hindus and Christians and raped many Hindu women while on the move to leave the country, they killed almost all the Hindu Rohingyas to such levels that today people associate Rohingyas with only Muslim population.
I'm thankful to you for bringing this information to my attention. It's people like you who make the world into a better place.
I never knew this and I'm glad I know now. I think everyone should be aware of this aside from mainstream news. Thank you Johnny for sharing these facts despite the dangers. W man right here.
You make some very important content, Johnny. You bring light to topics and crises some of us wouldn't have heard of otherwise
😢 thats sad for the rohingya
This video is incredibly eye-opening and thought-provoking. It's crucial for us to reflect on how social media platforms can be used to manipulate, divide, and incite violence on a large scale. The insights shared here are a stark reminder of the power and responsibility these platforms hold. It's not about blaming them entirely, but about understanding the need for accountability and regulation in a digital age. We must all work towards a safer, more responsible online world. Great job on bringing this important issue to light!

I hope you guys find a path to peace ✌️
every religion has extremists. not every one is peace loving, that would just be a stereotype.@@erzsebetkovacs2527
Even the ones we think are most peaceful religion, it still has its extremism. That’s is y I am an atheist today. Religion has given nothing but fake hope and is used to control the masses. That’s what Cults do and Religions just happens to fall in that category
I hope that this video will bring more attention to global viewers while other conflicts overshadow it. Thanks Johnny! The ongoing civil war in Myanmar could also use a re-telling instead of being buried. I met the kindest people there in my two visits. I was lead to believe that another superpower country is also involved because of access to resources and future seaports in the Rohingya region coast.
never thought i would see the word "buddhist" and "extremist" together in my life. Gautama would cry seeing today's world.
Long live Bangladesh and the Muslim brotherhood 🇧🇩
thank you for covering the situation of our country. I'm really ashamed and sorry for not standing against what military did to refugees.
I’m glad you’re covering this! I follow a few accounts on social media for updates and it seems this civil war is still ongoing and far from over.
Was thinking same , we may be not too far from ethnicity wars inside the country just fueled by hate and nothing else
As a journalist from Bangladesh, I thank you for sharing this in depth story on your massive platform.
I can’t express how much I value your work. This has probably been the most important episode yet. Thank you.
Burma wants to protect itself from a Pet0 religion they don’t wanna be like Afghanistan.
Please do more research on attrocities committed by the Rakine muslim population on the peaceful Buddhist people over decade leading to the genocide. Yes, Myanmar military is wrong, but don't try to whitewash and absolve the common muslim population of Rakine as if they were saints. The Muslim population have a problem called Islam, which activily discourage them to assimilate or co-exist with other religious people who are non-Muslim. See the daily issues cropping up in Europe i. e. France, Sweden etc. Where Islamic radicals are committing 'Jihad' on daily basis and so called common Muslims support or sympathise with extremist element in them even if they don't actively parcipate in extremist activity. Why Poland never report Of Islamic extremism attack because they don't take Muslim refugee, Simple. The problem with Liberal mind like ke you is you all take a idealistic position and start preaching. World is not ideal and pragmatic argument should be made, unless you talk about the issues within the Muslim society and Islam in general, you are not addressing the crux of issue. Liberals self-censor themselves thinking that if they talk about issues with Islam or Muslim society then they will be labeled Islamophobe. So much talk about free speech but all you Liberals do is provide sympathies, not the actual solution to the problem.
