Last night we got the 2jzgte vvti engine back together for the 1995 Mkiv Toyota Supra project car!
We installed the timing belt, water pump, real street billet timing tensioner, BC timing pully, gates racing timing belt. I also drilled the hole in the upper oil pan for the turbo drain and welded an AN fitting to it. Welded up a hole in the oil pan since the Junkyard oil pan had been punctured to drain the oil out of it ( I HATE HOW THEY DO THAT) Hopefully we will be able to get it presentable enough to not be embarrassed showing it off at Street Car Takeover in Denver this Saturday at Bandimere!

You are getting closer! If you install the engine for the show, just make sure to cover all the openings to keep any dirt/crap out of the engine.
For the engine colors. I'd paint the cam covers the red that matches the back of the car and then paint the coil cover and accessories black. The little bit of red on the cam covers will help tie the engine to car with out being way too much red because of the engine bay being red. I'd also paint any of the lettering, etc. on the black parts red too. It will pop against the black.

Trevor you got to do that and bring the show on the road your a great guy and yeah yeah yeah I know it's a lot of work for so few hours but look to future builds this could be one of those event that could bring more attention towards what you do and your channel ... just think even more Rambletron 2019... or a 2JZ / Supra future sale :D

Just a tip if you dont do it already Trevor. I use re-saleable sandwich bags to store all my screws/bolts/clips when stripping panels, then you can label them as well. p.s loving the content from the UK :)
Looking good Trevor! Looks like this progress is lifting your spirits along with it. No idea why Ty isn't liked by some, I think he really adds something, this whole friends helping out thing is. It's gives the vids a more Jimmy O type of feel to it. Maybe after the Supra stuff clears out you might want to use that for a communal clean up, your losing square footage quick :P
Trevor, avoid the oil lines going thru the runners please. The heat from runners will cook the line and block oil flow. Just run on a the outside. Use an extended drain flange off the turbo and some 45 deg fittings.

You should do a oil cooler delete and run a relocation / oil to air oil cooler setup will be well worth it and reduce the chance of the hose failing.
Dude i do model T fords, one year we took a running gear to the show. Frame with engine transmission drive shaft diff and 4 shit wooden spoke wheels. The frame was painted red. All model Ts had the same frame. People found it Awesome that the running gear frame we had on display could become the 1912 or the 1927 we had at the show. Dont be afraid to take the supra body to a show so people can see a in between beginning and end for a car.

I would not blame fedex, more the guy sending it, clearly didnt pack it very well. rule of thumb is that when you pack something it should withstand a 6 feet drop.
Ditto - poor job of packing it. Toyota sure as hell would have provided a sturdier box than that, the fucking box probably would have weighed more than that dash pad itself weighed. plus it would have had some interior packaging to keep the dash pad from "floating around" in the box.
It's been like 20 years, but I had an OEM dash pad and a fuel tank (for my '85 AE86 coupe, which I purchased new on Oct 1,1984 - yeah I am old, it was a 35th birthday present to myself, I deserved it - LOL) shipped to my local dealership all the way from Japan by air, to LAX, then forwarded on to ORD, and then trucked to the Toyota parts distribution warehouse outside Chicago and then to my dealer by Toyota Parts division - one minor "crush" in the lower-corner of the box for the fuel tank which didn't even collapse the inner cardboard liner. But then again, those boxes were never touched by a "parcel delivery" carrier on the "ground legs" of the trip, only UPS Air and probably in an air cargo container all the way.
If it was me, I would try to glue that broken section back in to place; but hey, you might need to learn something about plastic & plastic adhesives and try to figure out what type of plastic was used for that support. (There are websites that can tell you how to identify plastics by recycling codes embossed in the plastics and usually you can tell a lot from burning a sliver of the plastic by the color of the flame or the smoke. After that it's just a matter of getting the correct adhesive to use.)
A lot cheaper than tossing a (what?) $300+ dash pad. I know that the dash pad for my '85 Corolla was over $250 back in the late 90's and not as large as that Supra dash pad.
It would look great if you did black and silver on covers and manifold to color match the silver livery that's going on it.

I say wrinkle black valve covers and gloss black spark plug cover. I think red accents here and there on hardware world make your engine bay pop.

Polished aluminum would look so good in that engine bay IMO
It's hard to see from my prospective but it looks like the 1/4" NPT cooling line for the turbo is a smaller diameter tubing than the stock. If it is, then you are reducing coolant flow to the turbo and may have temperature issues that affect longevity. I'm not there and can only go by what I can see. I enjoy your videos! You guys remind me of me 35 years ago! Have fun!

I am partial to the 4AG-E as fitted to the AE86 in the US. More fun on the street and the AE86 was like 1/2 the price of a Supra, although the Supra JZ's did come a few years after the AE86 RWD model stopped coming the the US. In '88 the 4AG-E was fitted to a FWD "FX" model that was assembled in the NUMMI plant which Tesla now owns and uses.
What he didn't tell you is he went and got the door and put it in the van and that's why we never hear updates on it it's where he hoards thrashed junk 😂😂

Never use those plugs to tap coolant lines I broke my fully build 4g93t engine on the mirage last week due to the plug explode at least I see it on the bright side now I have more to film and make videos
I much prefer threading in or bolting on fittings for the oil return on oil pans myself. That way if the fitting threads get dickered you don't have to cut it off.
I also don't have a welder lol
shawnmeyer44 cutting it off is easy when you have a welder and a grinder. Also welds don't leak when they are done decently. Even the best threads will sometimes leak.
Jared Anthony unscrewing the old and in a new one is still alot easier then cutting it off. I hardly ever have had pipe threads leak, especially on a return that has basically no pressure.

It is a fair criticism. If this is his job, and we (the audience) are his customers, then keeping us watching and entertained is completely valid. This is the build that brought people to his channel, and yet he lost motivation and has been dragging his feet for months.
If this is just a hobby car, he can take as long as he likes. If this is a means to make money, he needs to be a little more timely. I mean a year and a half to paint, install a dash and put an engine together!?!
and have a kid? a life? decide how he wants the car to pan out?
