I used to wear cult paty kei back in 2013-2015 and honestly this video made me want to dust off some of my old wardrobe. Also, I gave In My Sunset a listen and it's good!!^^
im really intrigued by this style! i dress very colorfully (mostly kidcore and decora) and living in iceland is difficult when ur an alternative person lol. but i’d be glad to try it out! CULT PARTY TAKEOVERRR
Mori kei is like cult party kei but more tan and earth tones. It’s like the a crossover between cottagecore and cult party kei. Idk tho, I like the style but I’m not fully into and I don’t dress like it. 😔
This is the most interesting episode in this series for me so far ! Thank you for your hard work and thanks to the guests! It was really interesting listening to them !
I love this series. I remember the trend in Lolita of wearing peignoirs and the igari makeup, it actually became my go to makeup. Grimoire attended events I went to as well, I didn’t know they changed so much, it’s kind of sad because the stuff they curated was so nice. It’s definitely an issue people on the English speaking side have over-categorising everything and trying to decide strict rules which then stifle creativity especially in more eclectic styles. I love that you showed examples that use black and red, the pops of red looks are my personal favourites. I remember when shironuri had its moment and people just assumed exactly what Minori was doing was the style when really she was in that cult party, dolly and mori realm frequently. I like that you host guests who emphasise not policing each-other because that has always been something I have been sad about in jfashion in western circles because it crushes creativity and innovation, to me street fashion should be experimental sometimes and very personal. Not every outfit will be something you would wear and that’s the beauty of it for me sometimes because it’s about self expression and throwing something at the wall to see what happens.
Cult party kei was one of the very first styles that drew me to j-fashion! I love how light and dreamy it is. And it really is easy to find pieces for it once you know what to look for.
You released this at such a perfect time,, Im brainstorming my illustration senior thesis and Im going for a vintage/romantic/childlike vibe. I may end up referencing this in my pitch :) Thank you!
This was lovely, cult party kei seems a lot more inclusive than the very strict rules of other j-fashion street styles. I loved hearing everyone's stories and seeing all your fashions
Thank you so much for making these! Theyre incredibly interesting and insightful. Im currently living in Japan as an exchange student and have always had an interest in Japanese fashion but hearing about all this stuff, some of which is completely new to me, is just making me even more excited to have moved here :)
I dont know what specific aesthetics, but nightgowns are definitely popular among thrifters. I mean, even some cottagecore & other -cores have a fixation on vintage, so I see a LOT of people thrift nightgowns. even bimbo or barbie core sometimes takes pink nightgowns or pink flowy clothing items. and fairycore (the US version, aka fairy grunge) used green nigthgowns and green flowy items
I RECENTLY DISCOVERED CULT PARTY KEI AND IT IS REALLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR LIKE A YEAR BUT I NEVER KNEW WHAT IT WSD CALLED, I ALSO THINK IT WOULD SUIT MY HAIR!! I LOVE IT SMM TY FOR MAKING THIS :D
I love your channel, normally because as someone who was very into J-fashion 10 years ago, I like learning about newer styles and trends, like Jirai. But I have also been enjoying these videos on older styles like Cult Party and gyaru! Cult party was the main style I wore in high school and watching this video made me want to pick it back up :) thanks for making these!
I just discovered your channel and OMg! I’m obsessed 🥰 your enthusiasm and charm are so lovely, and may I say you have just the cutest voice ever?! Can’t wait to watch more! ✨
I was just thinking about Cult Party Kei, I still wear vintage fashion but I was more on the Dolly Kei side of the fashion with darker colors. Although I was never super drawn to Grimoire, I prefer Bernet, Jurian and Comyu
I can see Cult Party crossing with Old School Gothic. 80s goths thifted 70s nightclothes and rosaries. It’s a haunted Catholic vibe! I could probably do a look from things in my closet.
I loveee your pride/trans/bipoc bg on your video window!! Also this was a very interesting video because I never heard of this fashion before. But then again, I tend to lean toward lolita or visual kei/menhera/Yami kawaii myself.
i loved cult party kei, put a single neat outfit together and wanted to do it more but its hard to do when you have sensory issues with polyester 😵 i thrifted a couple of the nightgowns and never really could wear them bc i hated the feel of them smh 😭
Amazing chapter! I didn't know about this style, it's so charming! I'm craving the Mori Kei style, I hope you can make a video about it in the near future!
I did a cult party kei look a few years ago. I discovered that wearing even MORE layers than even lolita has was not comfortable for my autistic ass lol. I loooove the look of it, though, so I’ll just stick to designing OCs with the style.
Hihi! Your recent video came up on my reccomended by bizzare chance, as I imagine it was a fluke of the algorithm (and I hope you pop off bc of it), given I'm a grungy Kiwi guy who exclusively wears board-shorts/jandals/(cheap tshirts until my clothes are so torn I used them for paint rags), and have poor grasp on current fashion. BUT!- Im watching all your videos while I paint, and you've genuinely given me so much joy. Your content has gifted me a window into sm stuff I no idea about. Anyway, commenting so it boosts your content in the algorithm. Much love :)
I just wanted to add that « peignoir » is originally a french word that can be linked to the word « peigne » who litterally means « comb ». I wonder if it mean a piece of clothe that you would wear over your underwears while having your hairs done?
I was wondering if you have heard of joji fuku?its a style that is cute, but problematic for many people. It would be cool if you made a vid about joji fuku!!like about the style itself and the community
Anime really sets in for me than the stars but I get it cause when you see the elegant ones or common themes,I fell more likely or true fashion facts west and japanese
Ahhh I'm so sorry, I meant "forgotten" in the way that whenever people think of J-Fashion, they immediately think of the popular ones like Lolita, Decora, Fairy Kei, etc. first but I meant more so like underrated (sometimes gotta use a little more dramatic words for the RUclips algorithm) but yes the 2010s are definitely not far off! ❤
@@cybrgrl ahh it's alright I totally get it. It's just rough these days with everything moving SO fast that 30 year olds already feel "vintage". I have been in jfashion for so long that I remember when cult party was a new style 🥲 Especially with the rise of Y2K again and gen Z wearing it the same way we would wear something from the 50s.
I remember searching for jfashions to follow and I was like I love cult party kei and Mori kei but I don’t like long skirts and I like being somewhat put together so I’m quite happy that cult party has no real rules
hey, I don't know if you're going to read this comment, but I'm Brazilian and I love your videos but I don't understand most of them, because my English isn't very good, I know it must be hard to subtitle your videos, but I would really grateful if your videos had subtitles in Portuguese! 💗
Also, the way I differentiate cottagecore and mori kei: Cottagecore- what you would wear in a Beatrix Potter book Mori kei- what you would wear in a Frog and Toad book

YES THIS
It has been and unfortunately the non-Japanese community is all but dead. :(
I still think about cult party kei every now and then. Dolly kei was also fun then.
I was looking for a myth buster video to watch while I clean and lucky for me this had just been posted!!
I adopted this style by accident just by loving my great grandma's wardrobe, thank you for bringing more insight!! So inspiring
