I'm glad we're getting something other than a coming of age story cause that's been done so many times before. And it looks like they have an actual budget for this one!

Also, in case it wasn’t clear in the trailer, Uma Thurman is the President so it’s the son of the first female president falling in love with the prince. This is a bit of a book spoiler, but I can also say the book has great representation when it comes to lube, travel size lube is mentioned more than once.

The story is written incredibly well and does a great job of giving an accurate representation of our community and the struggles that we have with a twist of being in the public eye. One of the things I LOVE about the book is their emails and texts and love quotes they send to each other. They're hilarious and sweet and I want someone to write me love notes like that. I hope they kept it all in the movie.
The audiobook is absolutely fantastic. While I love the book, I've listened to the audiobook mulitiple times. The narrator is fantastic and brings the story to life. COMPLETELY worth of your airpod/earbud time! You will love it!

Since you haven't already read the book, I would say wait to read it until after you see the movie. There are a few known key plot/character changes that have some fans of the book very upset. I accept that it's not going to be a faithful adaptation of the book simply because there's not enough time in a movie format, but I intend to go in with an open mind. I will say most of what happened in the trailer did take place in the book. I am very excited about this movie and have rewatched this trailer numerous times! 💖💖 1 month to go!!!!!

The trailer honestly has it tied for me. I absolutely love heartstopper but this is new and interesting. I don't know how I only find out about these things last minute. I found out about heartstopper a week or so before season 1 came out, now this.

The book was soooo good I loved it, so many scenes are in the trailer. I’m gutted there are some changes and characters not in it but excited, it should’ve been a series!
I have ordered the book, but now I’m beginning to think I might indeed wait until after seeing the movie to read it. In other reactions I’ve seen, people who have read the book have more trepidations about it than people who have not. And I will add that I too, am glad that I saw the movie “Love, Simon” before reading “Simon and the Homo Sapiens Agenda.” I liked both very much, and I would hate to have liked one of them less because I saw them in the wrong order.
Yes, I would recommend you watch the movie first. As you said, you'll be able to enjoy it on its own merits and then you'll have the book to look forward to! The book is pretty dense, so there will be lots of extra content that won't fit in the movie anyway.
Just finished the book. WOW! Highly recommended. I can’t wait for the Netflix movie and I really hope Casey McQuiston is considering a Part 2. I’m all in if she decides to continue the story.

Idk, I feel like watching the movie first might be a better idea, because I have a feeling that they screwed up everything not related to the main couple. Like they already combined two of my favorite side characters into one in the movie, what the hell else are they gonna screw up??
I agree with the others who’ve said it but I would absolutely recommend the book! It’s a great read, will give a lot more detail naturally, and I think could be easily done before the movie releases. It seems like they’ve definitely translated the comedic moments to film really well; I’m personally still a little cautious (but hopeful!) about the romantic and intimate moments. But overall I’m super excited for this! Nicholas Galitzine (Henry) has played queer roles before - worth checking out Handsome Devil if you haven’t, it’s wonderful
You ask about representation. While I haven’t read the book and thus do not know if there are other queer characters, there are queer actors playing other parts (at least Stephen Frye and two others) as well as a number of queer people behind the camera. So we are pretty well represented. The two leads have not publicly stated their sexuality.
The President’s son and the Prince don’t need lube. They have smooth diplomatic relations.

From the trailer tho it's giving henry top energy lol alex seems more jockish.
In this story you don't need to root for or against one of them, the world is hard enough on it's own. We root for both of them.

The book was soooo good I loved it, so many scenes are in the trailer. I’m gutted there are some changes and characters not in it but excited, it should’ve been a series!

I have ordered the book, but now I’m beginning to think I might indeed wait until after seeing the movie to read it. In other reactions I’ve seen, people who have read the book have more trepidations about it than people who have not. And I will add that I too, am glad that I saw the movie “Love, Simon” before reading “Simon and the Homo Sapiens Agenda.” I liked both very much, and I would hate to have liked one of them less because I saw them in the wrong order.
Yes, I would recommend you watch the movie first. As you said, you'll be able to enjoy it on its own merits and then you'll have the book to look forward to! The book is pretty dense, so there will be lots of extra content that won't fit in the movie anyway.
I read Simon first and I *hated* the movie. I definitely would have been more lenient if I hadn't had higher expectations because of the book
Just finished the book. WOW! Highly recommended. I can’t wait for the Netflix movie and I really hope Casey McQuiston is considering a Part 2. I’m all in if she decides to continue the story.

i think this film looks so fun, i also get older rom-com vibes in the best way! having read the book, i have both aspects i loved and didn't like that much from that, so i'm very interested to see this version of the story! i think it has the potential to be really good, with a perfect balance of humor and heart, and also some interesting commentary on sexuality and celebrity.

I agree with the others who’ve said it but I would absolutely recommend the book! It’s a great read, will give a lot more detail naturally, and I think could be easily done before the movie releases. It seems like they’ve definitely translated the comedic moments to film really well; I’m personally still a little cautious (but hopeful!) about the romantic and intimate moments. But overall I’m super excited for this! Nicholas Galitzine (Henry) has played queer roles before - worth checking out Handsome Devil if you haven’t, it’s wonderful

While I haven’t read the book and thus do not know if there are other queer characters, there are queer actors playing other parts (at least Stephen Frye and two others) as well as a number of queer people behind the camera. So we are pretty well represented. The two leads have not publicly stated their sexuality.
