Him losing his human form in Cap 4 is a good move if they wanna keep Ford long term. He can sit back and just lend his voice but the character will be just as expensive since the money they were paying Ford before would now go to the CGI department lol
@@amartyakejora5451 He also could just not voice the character if they chose to not use him after the transformation. That might be tricky since the Hulk character's voices have just been their actors voices more recently, but if they wanted to go the "Red Hulk has a different voice from Ross like Hulk used to", then Ford technically wouldn't even be needed.

Ross's through-line in the MCU seems to be a general resentment of OTHER people having power. He's a man who's made his life to climb THE bureaucratic ladder for power - up through the military ranks to General, and then Secretary of State. At the same time, some pencil-neck punk like Banner gains abilities that make it impossible for Ross to exert that "earned" power over him, and he resents it. He gives Blonksy the serum not because he hates superhumans, but because he wants them to be under his direct command. Then all these superheroes pop up and form the first line of defense for the world, and even though they're led by Captain America, they're still free agents that he's powerless to control. So he works to pass the Sokovia Accords in order to regain some of what he perceives as the rightful order of things. People who have worked their way up the established ladder get to have the say again. Nope, Cap and half the Avengers go rogue. Ross doesn't care why. He might agree with their goals, but like with the Sokovia Accords, he just wants to be the one to say "go". My assumption is that Captain America "NEW WORLD ORDER" is going to be Ross, in the vacuum of a cohesive superhero team, taking a play out of Fury's playbook and steping up with his own American government sponsored official Avengers team. Sam either has to answer directly to Ross or risk another Civil War situation. Maybe it'll turn out the Leader isn't really scheming to take over the world, but Ross is staging it as an opportunity to cement them with the public the way the Avengers did in the Chitauri attack. You've forgotten an appearance/mention of Ross! There's a questionably canon scene in the 2008 Hulk post-credit-screen/Marvel One Shot "The Consultant" (Remember those? I wish they did more of them) where Ross has pitched Abomination (whom he currently had custody of) as a prospective member of the Avengers, because Hulk (having escaped) is blamed for the battle. Agents Coulson and Sitwell think Abomination is a terrible choice, but can't tell Ross no outright, so they send Tony Stark to negotiate the deal, knowing Stark will piss Ross off so much that Ross will withdraw out of anger. All of it seems to suggest that Ross actually stayed in good standing after 2008 Hulk, rather than face any real consequences.
I've been saying for years that I want them to bring back those One Shots back. Ever since they announced Marvel would be producing content on Disney+, I thought that was the perfect platform to bring them back, they could even be released under the current "Special Presentations" banner.
It couldn’t be canon because of the end of Iron Man 2 and the start of The Avengers. Those movies make it clear Tony was not welcome at Shield until the Loki situation.

It would be a fun parallel to see Valentina throwing a file stamped "Thunderbolt Initiative", but I think their current roster is a little bit at the light side powerwise to face a Hulk
I could see Ross being connected to the creation of Wolverine in the mcu. Ross has a history of trying to work on a super solider project, like when he helped create Hulk, so it doesn't seem out of the ordinary for him to try again. Instead of giving a random scientist gamma radiation however, this time he gets a trained solider and grafts indestructible metal to his skeleton and and he ensures the subject is brain washed so he doesn't have to have a repeat of him running away. It would also allow us to have the classic first battle of Hulk and Wolverine as I can't think of a better first target Ross would want to use his new solider on.
maybe he can have a character arc where like how he wanted to control the avengers with the civil war incident, he gets a taste of his own medecine with the government trying to control him after stepping down as president
I gotta say, I would love to see General Ross be the origin of the sentinels in the MCU. They just seem like something that this version of the character would be 100% behind, plus maybe bring back Hammer as their manufacturer? Also, just bring back Hammer because he's awesome.
Ross didn’t want the abomination, it was Blanskey who wished to relive his glory days when he was in his prime, which lead to him volunteering for the super solider program. After getting beaten by the Hulk it was Blanskey who forced the leader to inject him with Hulks blood which lead to the Abomination
It's really curious that they chose to recast him at all. He's not _un_important, but he's been enough of a side villain that I can imagine some people not even realizing there was a recast and just assuming Harrison Ford is a new character. Like Nando said, this version of Ross doesn't really the longstanding emnity with Banner like he does in the comics. If the MCU really wants a Red Hulk they could probably get away with just picking another guy.
I've never loved how Ross compares Banner and Thor to lost nukes. Only because not a single person in the room argues that they both are free individuals and not weapons owned by an authority. Considering that's kind of the point of that scene and movie.
That's how he sees Superhumans though, not as people...but as weapons to be controlled. Really, it's the equivalent of how in X-Men the Mutants are always seen as things to be used and not people. Now the Avengers got a taste of that.
@@ShadowSonic2 oh ofcourse. I'm pointing* out the fellow heroes who don't object. Cap, atleast, should make that point even if say we got a shot of Tony nodding in agreement.
Look, I’m a simple man with simple needs, all I ask is that if he does turn into Red Hulk, he keeps the mustache. None of that “the mustache disappears when he turns into red hulk” nonsense.
I thought new world order was a strange name for the cap movie because of some messed up associations irl, could it be thats a flase title like civil war and we see down the line that it is actually world war hulk?
To me the obvious choice is someone that has already voiced the character, and is the right age to play the character, Clancy Brown. I know if you can get Harrison Ford, you get Harrison Ford, but Clancy would be cooler to me.
I know New World Order is set up to be a Hulk/Leader villain set up, but what if that's just to throw us off a bit? I feel like Val can be setting up the Thunderbolts to oust Ross and to run and control her own superheroes. The reason being is because Val is actually Sharon Carter, the Power Broker (she's wearing one if those SHIELD masks like B.W. does.) It would make sense because she used to work directly for Ross and then got deported to Madripoor when things went bad. She could be mad at Ross for sure and was perhaps developing super soldier serum as her ticket back or even for revenge on him. Now she could have the Leader as a replacement to her super serum guy who she lost in Madripoor. It'd be cool to turn Ross into the thing he hates most (a raging Hulk) and use that rage to ruin his career and bring him down. Meanwhile, she has a team of superheroes ready to handle him when he loses it and rages out.
Regardless of what you think of this pick you have to admit it was extremely brave of Marvel. Not every day a guy in his 80s known for crashing planes is picked for a major recurring role that could last years, if not decades.
I don't know how interested Harrison Ford will be interested in playing the character for that long. He barely has any patience for franchises, as the above comments except Indiana Jones, as the above comment stated and that's concluding soon. I could see him 3-5 films at most.
I think since they aren’t doing yearly contracts and more just project by project ones, he probably feels more comfortable about that then a multi movie contract, he’s way more cool with it. Plus he probably is a fan of marvel in general, or possibly he wants to play Ross because his kids or grand kids love marvel. Either way, it’s awesome that he’s joining regardless. Though, It’ll be interesting to see how they make his transformation into red hulk be like. In black widow he was walking with a cane, they could tie in his older age and decrepit body as to why he takes the blood/serum. Like he’s in a hospital bed, can’t stop thinking about hulks and captain Americas and won’t give up the fight against those like them that he doesn’t have control over. I know in human form he will still have Harrison Fords old man body, but seeing how in She-hulk they had a 6’+ stand-in doing the motion capture and movement for the she-hulk scenes, but Tatiana doing the Jen scenes speaking for she-hulk, just with her face and acting slapped on to that tall woman’s body. They could easily have a more athletic guy do all his motion capture while Harrison does the normal human form and speaking lines.
the news they were casting this character was a surprise to me as well cuz i just kinda assumed that they'd just leave this character once william died. i guess they had plans
It's really funny to think Harrison Ford would ever have any interest in joining the MCU, given how much he didn't care about being Han Solo. If the rumors come true, they probably offered him a huge bag of money.
I'm wagering that's likely it, given he's been honest about that being the only reason he's returned to the role for The Force Awakens. I don't see him being interested in being part of another franchise for years.
We have some confirmation of a World War Hulk movie, but what if instead of Hulk going to war with the Hulk, it’s a war filled with Hulks. We already have 4 of the most important Hulks, the Leader can count as a Hulk. That seems much more likely than Bruce turning into World Breaker for no reason
I love that shot of Ross in the flashback getting all pissy at Bruce for something that Ross himself was directly responsible for. Then on top of that he's presumably telling him to leave his daughter alone which is kind of what Bruce does only for Ross to now start chasing him down after being the one who told him to leave. I guess what I'm saying is his decision making isn't exactly what I'd call sound and I do not understand how he's able to pass the vetting process for Secretary of State with such massive lapses in judgement in his background.
Hey Nando I would love to hear you talk about when it's suitable to recast a character after the actor passes? Because they're doing it for Ross but not for T'Challa. I get that for some people, Boseman's death was more emotional or personal and the star of his own franchise. But I would love to hear your take on it, it doesn't have to be on a video we can email. I have an idea involving Betty Ross that I would love to bounce with you. Fan of the content as always, keep at it.
I know you're asking Nando but my two cents: T'Challa is a main character of huge movie and Chadwick did a hell of a press tour, meeting kids he inspired and the like. General Ross is a side character who may be turning into a main villain, post-recasting. Recasting one versus the other is just not the same situation.
If you arrest Captain America he’s a prisoner and you can experiment on him, draw his blood, and make the perfect super soldier serum. It makes perfect sense for Ross to target Captain America
I had this idea they won't do that I'm in love with.....what if the antagonist of thunderbolts was the X-Men or brotherhood of mutants.....that'd be cool as hell
Doylesian: marvel is not allowed to do solo Hulk movies Watsonian: idk... there is somekind of restraining order between those two?. Maybe after the first avenger movie hulk was pardoned and Ross is not allowed to do anything about him or would be discharged or whatever
You know what could be kinda fun. Clearly Ross has been doing fine politically he was Secretary of State. So maybe instead of General Ross vs the heroes its President Ross (President Red Hulk?) against the heroes.
I'm on no recast for T'Challa so natural, I'm on no recast for Ross too. I think in this age of movies, the attachment between actors and characters is too great.
@@TheStormbringer8751 phase 1 recasts are fine. We're 26 movies in. They could easily have Ford be Robert Maverick, who's also a General that becomes Red Hulk.
I just want to say love the work you do. Also, Nando, please, please, please, make a Hulk or World War Hulk fan prewrite, or an incredible Hulk rewrite or even better, a Hulk trilogy. Let's face it the Hulk is the Henry Cavil Superman of the MCU, he's been on the sidelines way too long.
The Thunderbolts very first appearance in The Incredible Hulk 449 revolved around the team in a altercation with The Hulk. I don't think it's that far fetched to believe the plot of "The Thunderbolts" will be very similar with the only difference being it's Red Hulk instead of Bruce Banner. It would also make sense as to why the team we we're introduced to at D23 was predominantly super solders.
I think recasting a character that's been played by one actor for so long is a mistake, they should have just gone the Val route and figured it out. An even bigger mistake is recasting him with an actor who's 8 years older than the guy who died.
Recasting used to be commonplace, and I don’t think it’s an issue at all. Actors don’t own their characters, and especially in this case, since he was only a minor character, it won’t take long to get over. I’m assuming they have big plans for his character, otherwise they wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of recasting him, and he has a history in the MCU and with the other characters, which Val does not. We’ve seen his motivations and what he thinks about super heroes, so it will be far more interesting to see what he does when he becomes a hulk.
The idea that the Thunderbolts want to STOP Thunderbolt Ross makes sense because Bucky, Yelena, and the Red Guardian should have ZERO motivation to work with him.
then again they could have it to where general ross created the sentry and in the final act of the film they have him as red hulk face sentry as a little bit of redeption for his character, just my ideas
To be fair to the old man, his probably is more with vigilantes not super powered heroes. He is the one that gave Blondski his original powers as long as he was a good soldier he was good with him.
Not something I'm seeing pointed out a lot but I think Harrison Ford's casting is very fitting. As in, if I imagine him in a military uniform with a moustache, he looks straight out of some comic depictions of Ross imo. I'm not sure how they convinced him to take on another franchise (well, I kinda do) but I think he'll do great.
on a tangent, but thinking about WWHulk... for that to happen in the MCU, and it be Hulk taking revenge on Earth (or a faction of it) for supposedly causing the death of his wife - as in the comics - there needs to be a few story gaps to fill. So how about if the World referred to in the MCU version of WWHulk is not Earth, but Sakaar. Taking this as the premise, here are two potential scenarios: 1. WWHulk has already happened. It is why Hulk went to Sakaar during She Hulk, as he was asked for help to overthrow a Gamma-radiated dictator who had imprisoned his wife and son (who he didn't know about) as they opposed him. Maybe the villain here is a variation on Maestro, and at the end, he brings Skaar back to Earth as he has no other family left 2. At the end of Cap4, to defeat Red Hulk, they need to call the Hulk team. They win, but then the World Council (or whoever) determine that it is too dangerous having Hulks on Earth as their blood can be synthesised to make more Hulks. As a result, they banish Hulk, Skaar, She-Hulk, Abomination, Red Hulk and the Leader - Hulk agrees and suggests Sakaar as a sanctuary. Once there, Red Hulk escapes with the Leader, and seeing a leadership vacuum, goes about taking control of the planet, making an army of Hulks. the rest of the movie is the war between the hulks... the problem with number 2 is that it turns a cap film into a hulk film...
I thought Blade really has the potential to be the MCU's "next Iron Man" I think that's an interesting question. Like, who will be the face of it all now that RDJ isn't there. Harrison Ford could definitely be it. Maybe General Ross will be the face of the normal MCU but Blade will be the face of the darker stuff
Why do we insist Black Widow has no Powers, She was experimented on (they've said so in Avengers, and she is a minor super soldier in the Comics) and in the intro to Black Widows movie they showed some serum and she is clearly not normal basline human.... that's what Hawkeye is, Baseline extraordinary human
This video has just proven that Ross is one of the most inconsistent and incompetent characters in the MCU, I wonder how they’re gonna reconcile Ross’s past when Harrison Ford plays him
They can give us what we’re missing from Bruce/Hulk with Red Hulk. We haven’t had legit on screen Hulk action in years. The fans are thirsty for Hulk smashing
If they'd brought Sam Elliot in to do it, would that have retroactively made Ang Lee's Hulk canon? Cause I wouldn't be mad at that. I wouldn't be mad at Bruce talking about that time he punched a dog in the nuts.
Nando, the Black Widow movie happens BEFORE Steve and Natasha bust everyone else out of prison, he's going after Nat because she and Cap are the only ones on the loose, the BW movie ends with Nat getting a quinjet to bust all the rest of team cap out of the raft
At the point in Black Widow, I believe all the other team Cap people are still in the raft. So he already had scarlet witch. Black widow was the last loose end. Nat says once she gets the quinjet at the end she was going to help cap break the others out. Which makes sense since there appears to be a time jump in civil war when we see Tony get the note
Harrison Ford is not joking around where he says he’s only in it for money, he actually is only doing bc Marvel we’re able to one up Indiana Jones and Star Wars’ paycheck
He went after black widow because everyone else was on the raft at the time. She wasn’t captured she was on the run when the rest of the team was captured. He only went after her because tony gave widow a heads up after black panther told on her to Ross later
I didn't even really think about that. Up till now Ross has been somewhat superfluous. His parts could've been handed off to some other character without impacting the story that much. What could they possibly have in mind besides Red Hulk that would get Harrison Ford to sign on when he's probably seriously thinking about retiring? If he's becoming Red Hulk you don't need a Harrison Ford for that either. Red Hulk is the draw, not the actor. So what could they be planning?
For those in the comments asking. It is confirmed. Yes, Marvel hasn't confirmed it but irrelevant. The publications that have confirmed it have a 100% track record and they don't take things lightly.
The idea of a 'real' War World Hulk Story but with Red Hulk instead would be pretty interesting & nice so that you don't have to run back on Bruce's development.

Unironically want Mark Hamill doing the mo-cap and voice for Red Hulk
Love this channel
maybe he can have a character arc where like how he wanted to control the avengers with the civil war incident, he gets a taste of his own medecine with the government trying to control him after stepping down as president
After getting beaten by the Hulk it was Blanskey who forced the leader to inject him with Hulks blood which lead to the Abomination
was missing ur uploads, glad ur back daddy
It's really curious that they chose to recast him at all. He's not _un_important, but he's been enough of a side villain that I can imagine some people not even realizing there was a recast and just assuming Harrison Ford is a new character.
Like Nando said, this version of Ross doesn't really the longstanding emnity with Banner like he does in the comics. If the MCU really wants a Red Hulk they could probably get away with just picking another guy.
They recasted him because the original actor died
Wow such a cool new format so nice to watch ! More of a podcast style that you can just listen to. Really dig it ❤
You better believe Matt Murdock is a Hulk fan ;)
@@ShadowSonic2 They Just sit and listen cause Daddy Thaddy is in the room giving a big lecture.
Imagine recasting one dead actors character and killing of the other dead actors character off screen
Look, I’m a simple man with simple needs, all I ask is that if he does turn into Red Hulk, he keeps the mustache. None of that “the mustache disappears when he turns into red hulk” nonsense.
Really liked this video, keep it up!
I thought new world order was a strange name for the cap movie because of some messed up associations irl, could it be thats a flase title like civil war and we see down the line that it is actually world war hulk?
I can’t wait to see Red Hulk do the Harrison Ford finger point
Abomination was probably on The Raft since The Raft was made
To me the obvious choice is someone that has already voiced the character, and is the right age to play the character, Clancy Brown. I know if you can get Harrison Ford, you get Harrison Ford, but Clancy would be cooler to me.
I’m digging this second channel
I wished they would have brought in General Talbot from Agents of Shield instead for the mantle of Red Hulk
He’s dead
Yeah but he died as graviton remember
@@mickeymouse7726 I think it could be easy to assume that seasons 5 through 7 all exist in an alternate timeline(s)
I’ll miss William Hurt in the role. He did his job well in that part. Ford is a good get to take over. Hurt was still a good foil to the Avengers.
Have you read the immortal hulk comics I love those comic books
Reminds me a lot of general eilings story in the cadmus arc in jlu
Harrison Ford hates acting but loves getting paid to act and it’s great
Regardless of what you think of this pick you have to admit it was extremely brave of Marvel. Not every day a guy in his 80s known for crashing planes is picked for a major recurring role that could last years, if not decades.
A guy who has explicitly shown his lack of patience for franchises that aren't Indiana Jones, no less
They could easily have a more athletic guy do all his motion capture while Harrison does the normal human form and speaking lines.
general ross is this set of phase's equivalent to Loki of phases 1-3
the news they were casting this character was a surprise to me as well cuz i just kinda assumed that they'd just leave this character once william died.
i guess they had plans
they should call him the hulking thunderbolt
Daredevil would def be against him due to the push of the Sokovia Accords. Matt wants his secret ID
@@EricChoiniere That explanation is so silly.
@@sydiris666 Nah, it's reasonable.
I want a proper hulk or planet hulk movie first and then world war hulk afterwards
Doylesian: marvel is not allowed to do solo Hulk movies
Watsonian: idk... there is somekind of restraining order between those two?.
But he's not on that Black Panther level.
@@TheStormbringer8751 I know, but to me, consistency goes on all levels.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom So Ruffalo should never have been in the MCU? You're talking sideways.
@@TheStormbringer8751 I said in this age.
@@TheStormbringer8751 phase 1 recasts are fine. We're 26 movies in. They could easily have Ford be Robert Maverick, who's also a General that becomes Red Hulk.
Honestly Daredevil would be on Cap’s side if you look at his argument in She Hulk episode 8 👌👌👌
I hope Harrison Ford follows in the tradition of Ross throwing back a nice cool glass of Mountain Dew.
The most important question is, are they going to make Harrison Ford grow out a mustache.
11:33 right?
Taking this as the premise, here are two potential scenarios:
1. WWHulk has already happened. It is why Hulk went to Sakaar during She Hulk, as he was asked for help to overthrow a Gamma-radiated dictator who had imprisoned his wife and son (who he didn't know about) as they opposed him. Maybe the villain here is a variation on Maestro, and at the end, he brings Skaar back to Earth as he has no other family left
Amazing Video
Personally I could see it working. Good video! 👍
Love the way you forgot about Hawkeye just like the films did
I thought Blade really has the potential to be the MCU's "next Iron Man" I think that's an interesting question.
Cap isn’t dead, he’s on the moon.
I think that's just a cover story the Avengers created for the public.
I haven’t seen many people talk about how in she hulk it’s revealed that the sokovia accords were repealed
Which makes sense since there appears to be a time jump in civil war when we see Tony get the note
i wanna see how or if they implement his fire powers as red hulk
So...they'll recast Ross but not Tchalla? Hmm
Harrison Ford literally can just be himself for General Ross. Can’t wait to see him not give a F during the interviews!
On another note I’ve seen a lot of debate over their decision to recast Ross but not T’Challa. I’m honestly curious to hear people’s thoughts…
Oh that Reminds me. Hey Nando, going forward can we only address Ross as "Daddy Thaddy?"
Yoo he mentioned my boy Mauricio
I just find it so weird that they have decided to cast someone even older than the guy before so him being in more movies is even less likely
I don't think Steve is dead, but I also think that he should never show up in the universe again.
For those in the comments asking. It is confirmed. Yes, Marvel hasn't confirmed it but irrelevant. The publications that have confirmed it have a 100% track record and they don't take things lightly.
It's weird that captain america 4 has hulk characters like leader and sabra
I mean, that's how every Captain America movie. Steve never was truly on his own either.
I always assumed they “interesting parties” black widow talked about in avengers to hulk was probably ross
