Having just come from the movie, and having avoided seeing the trailer he was talking about, holy crap am I glad I managed to avoid it. There was way too much that he just described that would have been ruined if I saw the trailer
If you watched a few of these movies you can really guess the plot even if the trailer doesn't tell you a lot. I guessed the plot of Ragnarok even before the trailer just based on the news around it.
So far the plot looks exactly like the plot for Guardians 2. Ant Man is gonna accept the deal, and screw up a few dimensions, then he’s gonna end up having an army of Ant Mans fighting against Kangs army, then they’re all gonna diminish and it’ll end with just Scott and Kang battling it out. It seems like the main characters are going to be in the quantum realm for the entirety of the film, and nearly every single clip of Kang takes place in the SAME EXACT PLACE. Makes me feel like we’re actually not gonna see Kang very much during the movie.
Take this with a grain of salt, but according to some plot leaks Kang is only a secondary villain in the movie. Modok has a lot more interaction with the main characters.
@@flowersinawastelandthe first few plot leaks did say that sure but the most recent one posted on MSS subreddit after the first trailer has kang as the main antagonist and modok as the secondary one. But in case that wasn’t enough guess who’s all over the trailers and marketing? It’s kang. We even see what looks like the final battle of the movie and I don’t see ant-man fighting modok. I see ant-man fighting kang.
It may have given away too much, but it’s also the first thing that’s got me hooked into the emotional story potential and make me really eager to see them film, so I don’t mind
The worst is Spider-Man homecomings trailer, that trailer shows the boat being split in half, tony coming to help, tony taking away the suit, then spidey fighting vulture in the homemade suit on the plain. I remembered being pissed when I saw that trailer.
If only there was hint at a character in the movie who lived the same day repeatedly until he had the right outcome. It could be some sort of “Groundhog Day”. 😉 This would mean that we’re witnessing one of a multitude of scenarios that keeps repeating and Ant-man is splitting up to go through all these scenarios to find the outcome where Kang doesn’t win. Kind of like what Dr. Strange did in Infinity War but with time travel. Which means the Capt. America isn’t the only one who can do this all day😅
I agree and very much want you to break down bad previews like this in the future. It is a constant frustration for a detail oriented person like myself
Could not agree more nando, everything was absolutely nailed on the head. People will defend things or explain things away but this is just an objective fact that marvel shows too much in the trailer
I didn't connect the Wasp saving Scott thing until you mentioned it, for some reason though I have a feeling not that it's a cleverly edited Cassie scene, but rather a scene we don't have the full context for. Like it appears as though he's being sucked in and Wasp comes to save him, but maybe when we watch the movie we'll see that it's like a dream sequence or that Scott's seeing it and thinks it's Wasp coming to his rescue, when in actuality it's someone else (not Cassie) and he's visualizing it as Wasp. As far as the "we just both have to lose" line, that definitely does seem like a 3rd act, final battle thing, though I feel like that's Marvel doing their trailer trickery again, in this case editing together two different unconnected scenes to make it seem connected in the trailer. Like I could see the "did you really think you could win" part being in an Act 2 fight (I'm connecting it to the metal face Modok scene in my head), and the "we just both have to lose" part being from a completely different part of the final movie, but the way the trailer is edited, it comes across as those two scenes being connected. Marvel has shown they know how to get people talking and with things like Wandavision and She-Hulk they've shown they know what people are going to say before the show even comes out. I'm sure this trailer is likely a purposeful misdirect, much like the Captain Marvel trailer misdirected us on the truth about the Skrulls, or the Infinity War trailer with Thanos only having 2 stones during the Battle of Wakanda and Hulk himself being in the trailer instead of the Hulkbuster.
Plenty of trailers these days, not just superhero flicks, give away a lot. It’s odd cuz yes it gives film hype but it takes away from the surprise. Miss when we only had like 2 trailers & that’s it : no tv spots, no clips, & no more extra trailers
I definitely agree, this was the main feeling I had when I saw the trailer, which disappointed me. I will concede that this could be a bait and switch and it's not as it seems, but I would be very surprised.
I mean I feel like we already have a pretty clear idea of what’s gonna happen in this movie, trailer or not. Scott and crew are sucked into the quantum realm, they meet Kang, Kang tries to take over the multiverse, Scott and crew try to stop him, they fail, Scott probably dies, Hank too, Kang establishes his dynasty as seen in Loki, stage is set for KD and SW
This sort of thing has been going on for a long time. There was an Expendables 3 trailer that showed every twist in the movie and pretty much every scene. They really really want a movie to feel 'big' so they show as much as possible. Just like we have "Red Band Trailers" that show the R-Rated Stuff I wish they would make "Blue Band Trailers" or something that don't show anything in a movie that's not in the first x% of its runtime.
The problem is Ant-Man doesn’t sell. The previous films didn’t make as much as marvels other properties and they want Quantummania to be super successful to launch Kang
I think the point is to imply to the general audience that Ant Man could die/sacrifice himself. Also I suspect this might be a mid point disguised as a climax (like Black Panther “dying” mid Black Panther).
Well said. As you said, Marvel films market themselves; I'm certain Spider-Man could just use a still image of the number 4 with Spider-Man imagery right up to the release day and diehard fans will respect it more. I'd like to see trailers like this saved for a week or two after release.
I haven't watched the trailer and I plan to go into Quantumania as blind as possible, but I will come back and watch after I see the movie, as I'm super on the side of how trailers now adays are showing me too much.
It's funny because you're right. It seems like going to see the movies to learn about the first act and all the setup and why, meanwhile we know the conflict and can guess the resolution
I think its a good reason for them to have fake scenes in the trailer to thrown people off like they did in Infinity War. Trailers shouldn't show resolutions and contexts
Fair take Nando, but I will challenge you on the "We both just have to lose" line. Everyone I've talked to said that was the most memorable line in the trailer and it really helped to get me excited about the movie
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way!!! Every line they chose to play of each character basically gives away key moments of the plot, like wtf???
The wasp thing i agree with you on, although it could be because she's in the title of the film and so they needed at least a certain amount of wasp action in the trailer The ending of the trailer i disagree with you tho. Usually the expectation of a superhero movie is that they win the day at the end and get out absolutely fine. The idea (even if it's a misdirect) that this might be scott's last film and that he might die sacrificing himself to stop kang's plan is a big draw for me and has me more excited for the movie
I think the multitude of Ant man is either a torture or a challenge. It seems like a real life possibility tree. Essentially Ant man is running toward something and he sees all versions of himself, everything he could do, every second of existence splits off into a new Ant man
I just hope they don't kill off Scott tbh. I really don't like the trend of "the only resolution to this character's arc is to kill them off" when it really doesn't suit the character. For Iron Man? Sure, it worked well and made sense. But Ant Man? I really don't think it makes sense at all, beyond the fact that he's been in quite a lot of Marvel movies now, and the most recent content has been about introducing new characters.
I feel the same- unless its Verfremdungseffekt or a major part if this movie is going to be time loops... we didn't need to see any of what you've highlighted. It's almost like they've forgotten the power of word of mouth. If the film knocks it out of the park people will rave about it and see it multiple times... If anything the more they show they less good I fear the movie will be
Honestly, considering it takes place in the Quantum Realm where time is wonky and Kang is involve which makes dimensions wobbly, I wouldn't be surprised if aome scenes are bait frlm either a different universe or timeline.
This would not be the first time a trailer spoils such things... I recall in the first Avengers showing in the trailer the exact shot where Hulk saves Iron Man from falling... They showed this in-the-trailer!!! 😔
A fun little theory that popped into my head while watching this, with no real foundation whatsoever: What if that whole scene of Kang vs. Ant-Man happens at the beginning of the movie? The only thing being that this Ant-Man is a variant and not from Earth-616. This Ant-Man says the line "I don't have to win...we both just have to lose" but in context, he does something to sabotage Kang's plan or whatever and steals a crucial component. That's the thing that Kang needs to retrieve and enlists our universe's Ant-Man to help.
Something I wonder that I just haven't seen anyone bring up. I wonder if this trailer had anything to do with that, Yesterday, lawsuit. Where there is now a precedent that you can be sued for misleading trailers. Because this is the first trailer post the outcome of that verdict and Marvel trailers have been mentioned as ones that intentionally mislead you.
i couldn't agree more. I had a similar thought that maybe they'll do a switcheroo and most of that turns out to be dream/other dimension/whatever... you never know with kang honestly.
The trailer does give away the whole movie. If Marvel had took more chances after Endgame probably the situation would be different but literally this is what’s going to happen: Scott has bad relationship with his daughter ➡️Accident ➡️ Antman and co. met Kang and Modok ➡️ Quirky fast jokes ➡️ Kang proposes faustian deal to Scott ➡️ Scott realizes that Kang’s goal could destroy the world ➡️ Big confrontation teasing Ant-man’s dead ➡️ Probably Pfeiffer or Douglas die as they are the oldest (Marvel never kills the big ones until Avengers) ➡️ Ant-man and family are now happy ➡️ But wait Kang isn’t dead as he has various versions of himself across the multiverse ➡️ Post credit scene featuring Nick Fury ➡️ Pointless post credit scene with quirky jokes.
It's so funny this popped up in my feed a couple days after I just saw the new Knock at the Cabin trailer during my Megan screening. I had no intention of watching it since the first trailer revealed too much imo. Of course, the second one showed even more than it needed to tho it looks like a decent ride -- that said, I'm always cautious of Shyamalan's writing lol. I was surprised Ant-Man showed as much as it did while Guardians 3 seems intent on telecasting the possibility of Rocket's death (tho that's what I get from it). Avatar had good trailers that didn't tell you anything you didn't need to know outside of Na'vi versus humans again which allowed the thrills to be genuine (for me). I'm glad more people are recognizing trailers are an art form in of themselves along with the fact that telling a condensed story in 90 seconds to 2:30 minutes is difficult, especially when studio interests are a complicated necessity in the process. Curoius to know how you feel about A24's trailer tactics for their genre movies outside of their dramas and more straightforward films
This part bugged me because "I just need both of us to lose" is almost a climax scene line. Its equivalent to showing Wanda kill Vision in Infinity war or show that Micheal Keaton was Peter's crush's father in the trailer. It doesn't matter if in the actual movie its a subversion or a small twist before the climax it still defeats the surprise and drama which the actual movie will build.
Happy to see MODOK I guess, wasn’t sure how he’d fit in a live action film but he looks great. I was really afraid of a design similar to the Avengers game but thankfully he looks much more like himself.
My hope is that this movie is really good and the trailer is just trying to drum up interest because Ant Man movies don’t historically make a ton of money.
Questionable as this trailer may be, it doesn't hold a candle to the second Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer. Where the first trailer ended on the exciting cliffhanger of Spider-Man working desperately to hold two pieces of a sinking ferryboat together, the second trailer utterly annihilated any suspense by showing plain as day that Iron Man shows up to save the ferry. What could have been an nail-biter of a setpiece in theaters was ruined by the marketing that inexplicably felt the need to spoil the resolution.
I think marvel is expiramenting with their trailers by showing a bit more to entice more customers. Doctor strange 2 made 950M! I bet if they did not show you the illuminati in the trailer it would have made 700-800M max. I don't like spoilers in trailers but you gotta admit they sell more tickets and that's what matters to the studio in the end.
Yeah the trailer feels like it spoiled everything… which makes me feel like it can’t possibly be true ? But like… this made me go “aw dang it” more than usual especially because I’m so excited for this movie
If I were a Hollywood hotshot, my contract would give me control of the trailers, and I would insist on excluding anything from the first or last reels. Also, of course, I'd have Nando do script notes before we make one small mistake.
I have a thing, that I don't really do on purpose, where I get so engrossed in the movie that I completely forget about the trailer and any mild spoilers. Obviously major spoilers are a different story, but for example, I watched the Dr Strange trailer multiple times but completely forgot about zombie Strange while watching the movie.
The movie's about 2 and half hours long. These trailers probably add up to less than 10 minutes (including the reused footage between them). We already knew Kang is either going to win or at least set up his return in The Kang Dynasty. Since 'Young Avengers' is in the pipeline, we already know Cassie Lang's going to become Stature (the latest poster basically guaranteed it). All of that information was established MONTHS ago. There's really not much to spoil. To make it work, the film needs some SERIOUS plot twists and an emotional payoff to make up for that.
If we know anything about Marvel it's that they do not spoil their movies. Every single trailer people cry out that "they showed too much" and then the movie comes out and it's completely different than we expect
If you think that’s bad, at least the director didn’t spoil the end credits scenes like the director of Morbius did, but at the same time, the Starfox post-credits scene from Eternals was blasted on social media and even on local small-town news for some reason!

This would mean that we’re witnessing one of a multitude of scenarios that keeps repeating and Ant-man is splitting up to go through all these scenarios to find the outcome where Kang doesn’t win.
Kind of like what Dr. Strange did in Infinity War but with time travel.
Which means the Capt. America isn’t the only one who can do this all day😅
I feel like this is accurate and I’ve been even more spoiled. Good job sir
@@PinaKoalaGaming Don't worry about it. There's a 95% chance that the idea I got while watching the video is wrong 😉
I'm just hoping the Kang betrayal 'twist' happens early enough in the movie that there's enough left to still surprise
I agree 100%, now I know from the trailers that Antman has the attitude in this one to sacrifice himself when I should've have been shocked on this.
I agree and very much want you to break down bad previews like this in the future. It is a constant frustration for a detail oriented person like myself
Could not agree more nando, everything was absolutely nailed on the head. People will defend things or explain things away but this is just an objective fact that marvel shows too much in the trailer
"It's Corpsin' Time!" - Dr. Strange, 2022
I agree with this video, but the delivery is giving RUclips Apology core
The powers that be are scared. Sad to say but that is what I got from the trailer. Great points, can't really argue.
~Spoilers~
9:00 it's frustrating how accurately he predicted this, and how easy it was to do
“ Real quick video” it’s almost 18 min long
That got ppl upset!?!? THAT SHIT GOT ME HYPE AF because we know Ant Man ain’t finna beat kang
i think the Hope saving him thing will be in the first 45 minutes or so while he's initially searching for the mcguffin for Kang
It's funny because you're right. It seems like going to see the movies to learn about the first act and all the setup and why, meanwhile we know the conflict and can guess the resolution
Nando! I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE your new channel. You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs and I adore how creative your content is
they did the same thing with multiverse of madness, i feel like with all the tv spots you could kinda piece the whole movie together.
i pieced together an entirely different movie from MoM trailers and i was very disappointed at what it actually was
I think its a good reason for them to have fake scenes in the trailer to thrown people off like they did in Infinity War. Trailers shouldn't show resolutions and contexts
Fair take Nando, but I will challenge you on the "We both just have to lose" line. Everyone I've talked to said that was the most memorable line in the trailer and it really helped to get me excited about the movie
I have literally never seen a movie theater where they play the trailers in the lobby
I had this issue with Multiverse of Madness. They showed way too much in the trailers that it took away from the suspense
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way!!! Every line they chose to play of each character basically gives away key moments of the plot, like wtf???
The wasp thing i agree with you on, although it could be because she's in the title of the film and so they needed at least a certain amount of wasp action in the trailer
The ending of the trailer i disagree with you tho. Usually the expectation of a superhero movie is that they win the day at the end and get out absolutely fine. The idea (even if it's a misdirect) that this might be scott's last film and that he might die sacrificing himself to stop kang's plan is a big draw for me and has me more excited for the movie
Now I'm worried people will start complaining if Antman turns out completely fine at the end
It's like when they revealed Spiderman in civil war.
In the movie theatre I’m going to yell out “oh no! He’s gonna die” just to please you.
ShittyLifeProTip: do a bunch of drugs and alcohol so you dont remember the trailer after you see it
I feel the same- unless its Verfremdungseffekt or a major part if this movie is going to be time loops... we didn't need to see any of what you've highlighted. It's almost like they've forgotten the power of word of mouth. If the film knocks it out of the park people will rave about it and see it multiple times... If anything the more they show they less good I fear the movie will be
It's gotta be one of the worst trailers for the MCU. Just an aimless, themeless mix of spoilers.
Honestly, considering it takes place in the Quantum Realm where time is wonky and Kang is involve which makes dimensions wobbly, I wouldn't be surprised if aome scenes are bait frlm either a different universe or timeline.
Probably trying not to be sued. Since that’s a thing we do now over movie trailers
This would not be the first time a trailer spoils such things... I recall in the first Avengers showing in the trailer the exact shot where Hulk saves Iron Man from falling... They showed this in-the-trailer!!! 😔
Unless there’s gonna be a bigger spoiler or the big thing could be a Main character death
Didn't you see the tweet from the director saying that everything in the trailer is from the first 15 minutes of the movie?
Beau is afraid is an example of a perfect trailer
A fun little theory that popped into my head while watching this, with no real foundation whatsoever:
What if that whole scene of Kang vs.
If Marvel had took more chances after Endgame probably the situation would be different but literally this is what’s going to happen:
Scott has bad relationship with his daughter ➡️Accident ➡️ Antman and co. met Kang and Modok ➡️ Quirky fast jokes ➡️ Kang proposes faustian deal to Scott ➡️ Scott realizes that Kang’s goal could destroy the world ➡️ Big confrontation teasing Ant-man’s dead ➡️ Probably Pfeiffer or Douglas die as they are the oldest (Marvel never kills the big ones until Avengers) ➡️ Ant-man and family are now happy ➡️ But wait Kang isn’t dead as he has various versions of himself across the multiverse ➡️ Post credit scene featuring Nick Fury ➡️ Pointless post credit scene with quirky jokes.
THANK YOU. This is a stupid problem
I think the main thing is that we don’t really know what Kang wants yet. If that ends up being interesting it could hold up the whole movie.
"Spoiler, spoiler spoiler! Although a thing in the trailer!"
My new favorite rhyme 😂
EXACTLY!!!! If they don’t have something up their sleeve then they basically showed the whole movie :/
I remember marvel trailers usually only show the first 15,20 minutes of the movie.
I've been saying this for years, trailers these days give out way to much. You can "guess" the whole thing months prior.
I’d like to believe these things that seem to go together were taken out of context and don’t actually reveal anything
ive read the plot leaks on reddit and it this recent trailer literally shows about 75% of the plot.
I feel like they're gonna subvert the whole "we both just gotta lose" scene. They set that up earlier in the trailer
Great pitch. It does what the sequels were too afraid of. Only difference I’d make is keeping Kylo Ben and Leila’s son
I wouldn't put it past them to completely scramble all the scenes before putting the trailer together. They have deceived us before.
That's the problem I have with modern trailers. They just spoil the movie and "disguise" it by feeding you the cut up parts.
It's because it's an Antman movie and they want people get more people excited cause this is a big movie.
I just can't shake the feeling that Modok is going to look as bad as George Lopez does at the end of Sharkboy and Lava Girl.
