Thank you so much for filming and sharing this process in detail. I'm working on my 6L45 mechatronics unit doing the exact same thing right now and your video gives me confidence 🙏🏽
@stevet8607 I fixed my issues! No codes, just an unpredictable jerk in the low gears. I found 2 torn membranes and flattened seals when I took out the valve body. If you're doing it on a driveway/jackstands, use a jack with woodblocks to keep it in place while undoing the 6 long bolts. It'll safely lower the valve body without bending the last bolts. It's good weight. Installing new mechatronics membranes & seals, along with new passage seals (3 of them) did the trick. Cheap AC Delco/GM kits available, original parts. Do a proper temp fluid fill after shifting through gears several times, reset fluid life counter, reset all adaptations including torque converter, then drive light-footed for a few days. The car will move more like a Tesla till you punch it.
I replaced the passage sleeve twice and it’s still leaking from the connector. I have a new TECHM installed as well. At this point I’m tired of dropping the pan to address the sleeve. Plus the pins aren’t loose.
@stevet8607 yes this particular issue is fixed as I did this repair myself. However, I think I damaged the TCM during installation and now may have to replace it. 2009 Pontiac G8 GT
Well I guess you're not answering comments, but just in case anyone else knows. I did the repair, but I took all the bolts out by feel and am not sure what sizes go where I have 11 bolts. 5 different sizes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You didn't pull the plastic disc out underneath the diaphragm and clean out the hole before reinstalling. Worn material from the diaphragm will sit just under those disc which are easily removed.
I just got done doing the same thing on mine. 2008 escalade. Vehicle would act fine until it got warmed up all the way. And then I would start having random delay shifting RPMs shoot up but no acceleration and most of the time reverse wouldn't engage. Was hoping replacing these discs in the THECM would fix the issue but it did not. Now I'm wondering what else it could be.....
@Barnabyjones76 had to put in a new /remanufactured transmission. I tried everything I could possibly do to avoid doing it. Talked to several probably four or five different transmission shops and they all told me the same thing..... new transmission. Also had it diagnosed by two different shops and they both said the same thing full rebuild or replace. They said with those symptoms you can almost guarantee it'll have to either be fully rebuilt or just buy a remanufactured unit. I didn't want to do a rebuild because the price didn't justify doing it when compared to just buying a remanufactured unit that had a way way better warranty. Also I've heard nothing but bad things happening not long after doing a rebuild.
I have a 6L45R transmission in a 2010 E90. My problem is it jerks from 2nd to 3rd gear. Other than that, it's normal to go down from 3 to 2. No fault code The oil is good and not lacking. Can you recommend me?
I have the same trans in an 09 BMW 328i xDrive with similar issues in 1st & 2nd. I found one membrane with a small tear, nothing as bad as what this guy is replacing. These membranes and the other seals are very important for this trans to shift consistently. They all need it, even frequent fluid changes can't save these rubber plastic parts.
@@stevet8607 This service has to be done if your car is high mileage, no way around it. Don't forget your transfer box as well, service that with new fluid and drain plugs and reset life counter and adaptations. GM designed this transmissions this way and I actually appreciate it, because this was so easy to resolve such bad shifting. @@stevet8607 the drive shaft guibo discs can affect shifting as well. One super important thing to note - none of these services will fix bad shifting if you haven't resolved every single engine issue. You cannot have a single vacuum leak or exhaust leak near the O2 sensors, the transmission is extremely sensitive to engine performance issues.
I just did this recently. It did take care of the harsh 1-2 shift, but I still feel a hard/delay shift from P to D. It took me about two hours for everything ( drain, remove pan, remove TCM, seal fix, etc).

@@anupjthomasokay bro thanks 🔥💯👍 couple quick questions, are these membranes on the bottom or on the top of the unit ? do you have an email address

Just copped a new ACDELCO TEHCM & a SONNAX 6L80L valve body with all the updates. $1200+ well invested. Doing a ground-up build for my GMT936 chassis.
Great video thanks for posting. Do you have a link on where you got the repair kit and membranes?
Rock auto, it's a full kit
Perfect explanation, thank you

Wondering if this repair took care of the issues? I have some stored trans codes and have erratic shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.
