Betsy, you will love them! I was so nervous to get cataract surgery, I thought I would lose my stitching vision forever. But this is better than before because I can see my computer when I glance up and the stitching fabric is crystal clear through the bifocal. Best crafting purchase EVER.
I've been nearsighted and wore glasses most of my life, but I haven't been able to cross stitch since I got my biofocals a few years ago - I was having a little trouble before because I'd gotten to where I needed biofocals - and I've pretty much given up on finding a solution. I take my glasses off to scrapbook or read, but can't see well enough to cross stitch. I think I may do something similar to what you've done and see if I can get glasses just for cross stitching. Thanks for the inspiration!
Boy, do I hear you on the joy of stitching using ONE color of floss. I’m stitching Long Dog Samplers Pandemic pattern in DMC 321 red. I’m a third of the way done and not at all tired of the color and it certainly makes the stitching go faster. Which wasn’t the goal but is an unexpected plus.
Thank you for sharing about your glasses! I have eye issues too. Thinking of showing the 1st part of this video to my own optometrist to get same thing! Thanks also for sharing your stitching. Lots of beauty!
I am thoroughly jealous of your new glasses....I am scheduled for cataract surgery in a few months so I am going to see if I can beg them to make me a pair!!!!!! Otherwise, I will have to go to your doctor!!! Great video again....thank you for everything you share.
They recommend that you wait a month after your second eye is done in order to get perception glasses. Bring your stitching fabric to the optometrist and they will be able to make the perfect pair of stitching glasses for you! (I needed separate ones for reading).
Hi… the glasses are a very big game changer! Indeed.. love your pieces.. Why not hem stitch The Hound & the Hare. The majority of my stitching is Reproduction Samplers or small prims..so I often hem stitch my medium size samplers, always looking out for frames @ estate sales or thrift shops….it’s soooo expensive to frame… so I have a lot of finishes stashed away… til I have a wind fall if cash 💰 lol Take care Blessings
Ooh, lucky you! I would love to visit The Attic! It is very far for me though, I live in NY. 😔 I got into Summer School Last year but I gave up my seat because it was a lot of traveling. Thanks for your input, getting back to Ann very soon! 🐄
@@samplerstyle I didn't try for summer school as I am going to Quilter's Station's Cross Stitch Extravaganza in September. It's the same format with multiple designers who each have a half day to present a project. It's in Kansas City so less travel for you if you ever want to go.
I ALWAYS enjoy watching you and your FlossTube content. You do a great job of speaking clearly and not rushing, plus I really appreciate the long views of your projects. Your varied and diverse projects are enjoyable to see…great taste! Only one thing…commercials every few minutes is very annoying. We do not have television for that reason. Thank You for sharing.💕
Hi Jeana! Thank you for bringing the Mid-Roll ads to my attention. I have them turned off by default, but somehow RUclips turned them on again. I have turned them off now. I hate mid roll ads too, I'll make sure I double check when I post next time! 💕
So glad to hear your eye surgery was successful. New glasses are working well. I am calling my eye Dr tomorrow. I have a right side cataract. Driving me crazy. Thanks for your rave review.
I love the colours you have chosen for the Hare and Hound. I haven't seen this design before and so when you said it was meant to be in one colour I immediately thought "oh no, it's gorgeous in colour". I would have to copy your colour selection if I were to stitch it. Thank you for the mention about your glasses. I'm due my checkup soon and will speak to my optician about this, and bring my stitching along too. Karen x
I always enjoy your flosstubes! Thanks for the glasses information. I will have to look into that. I think you should frame your piece, it’s beautiful, love the colors.
Love love love your fox and hound piece. I have been hoping you would get back to it and finish it. I was wondering how you were going to finish it up and what colors you would put where. It is perfection. It is on my to stitch list because of you.
Just seeing this one☺️ I LOVE the Hound and Hare stitch , it's so smart, sophisticated. If it were mine, Is have it framed in something equally as classy. Robyn in Northeastern Missouri.
Hello Sharon, another lovely podcast…Jacob’s pattern would not work as a flat fold…you could do a flat finish and put it in a frame with space around the sides of the frame…this would allow selection of a complimentary fabric to show around the edges of the frame…you could do this flat finish yourself…Priscilla does this type of finish no matter the size…bows and flowers not needed…tutorials on SWTHW’s channel…glad you have some stitching glasses that work now…I need a great light to pull off the lower counts…congratulations on your finish…wishing you well and happy stitching ❣️
I get it, not a big jewelry person, once you own a few nice pieces who needs more? I like the "Bee Drum" by Shepherd's Bush so much I had to pause the video and go order it. New subscriber, I just found you this morning.
Loved everything but had to comment about Tom! I grew up with a Chocolate point Siamese also named Tom, also not cuddly, and very grumpy in appearance. Especially in his later years. Give your Tom a chin scritch for me...if he will allow it! New subscriber, now I have to watch the previous 11 episodes!
When I went to progressive lenses it was so hard to stitch. I discovered a pair of dollar store readers over my regular glasses work great. And at a $1, pretty economical. But I have thought about getting “real” glasses for stitching….
So in order to see fabric I need to hold it closer to my eyes. Therefore I need a stronger focal length (+5). For reading/everyday use I don't need glasses that strong. The ones I wear in the show are progressives, they are good for all focal lengths but not strong enough for stitching. Hope that makes sense!
I think your MFE sampler is too big for a flatfold but your finisher might think otherwise. So glad your eye issues are behind you! It was nice visiting with you this morning!😊🧵🪡✂️

Yes, I still LOVE being able to see distance (I was unable to see much before). The glasses you will get from the eye dr. are WAY better than what's at the drugstore. Better glass!
Wow! $150 for glasses is amazing! Here in Canada my last glasses were $700 and they weren’t anything special. You could definitely do a flat fold of your larger piece. It wouldn’t look silly.
Tell me more about what you asked the optician/optometrist for -- I have an astigmatism and have progressives, should I as for a special pair for stitching? I always had a special pair for my computer when I worked; I'm going to see an ophthalmologist in July because I have trouble driving now and I totally am will to get a third pair for just stitching.... Your prize was fantastic -- like a Victorian stitchers desk set! :)
Hi Mary! So the optometrist did the regular exam. Then I had her measure me for computer glasses (which are a mild +1. I knew that I needed a +5 for stitching (that's what strength of readers I was using.) I like to watch content on my computer as I'm stitching, so I asked for +1 on the top glass and +5 for the bifocal. (They can do anything you want, basically.) They even corrected all of the glasses that I ordered for astigmatism! If you're unsure bring your favorite count of fabric with you and have them measure while you are looking at that. I highly recommend getting professionally done prescription glasses for stitching. The quality of the glass that the optometrists provide is so much better than cheap readers. Good luck!!
I have the same problem with stitching. Thanks for the readers tip.
I need to get stitching glasses

I think Hound & Hare deserves a frame, it would look so great on a wall!
I think so too! Everyone else agrees as well. It will look very nice in my living room that has a "fox hunting" feel.
So glad your glasses wirk for you I tried that a couple of years ago. 😞 didn't work for me but I had reders made just wylith the +5 lenses.
The bifocal area is a bit small, I can see why you would want the entire glass to be one focal length.

Hi Sharon. I love all your stitching - it is very good. I would not do a flat fold for your project!
Ok thanks! I knew in my gut that a flat fold would not work, (too tall). It seems that most on here agree. 😃

The Hound and the Hare is lovely. I would frame it…it’s too beautiful for a flat fold.
Loved the glasses info. For clarification why do you need both pairs? Wouldn’t the “stitching “ pair be all you needed? TIA

Yes, the Dracula color way is an amazing red. Very accurate on the video too! ♥️

Just found you! lovely work! I wonder what you chose to do.. flat fold or frame?? 🤔
I will be framing the Hound and Hare piece. It is out at the framer now!
I must remove my glasses to stitch. I have bifocals for every day but close up can't use. I also remove glasses to read.
Before cataract surgery I was very nearsighted and had to do the same. Glasses off for stitching and reading for sure!

What is a clue?
Your Hound and Hare is great - please don't do flat fold. It would look so much better framed and hung on permanent display ❤
Why not leave the red/white snowflakes you have already done, and do something different to finish along the bottom? Be creative!! 😅
