Thanks for this video. Only ever changed my oil myself and this video made me confident enough to tear it apart. That 15mm offset is the only tool I'm missing. Would've saved me 15 minutes on that lower engine mount bracket bolt. Replacing the front gasket only stopped my leak! It's been 2 days with plenty of runtime.
Good video, just replaced both valve cover gaskets on a 3.9 impala but I was able to do it without removing the motor mount and bracket but for the rear one you’ll have to remove the crossover tube to get to the last valve cover bolt
Currently working on the rear valve cover for this engine... not seeing a crossover tube. Did you end up removing the alternator bracket?? That's what seems to be in the way of my last bolt and I can't figure out how to get it off.
A guy replaced my valve cover gasket in my Impala and since then it's been running rough, I feel like it burns more gas and oil, can you give me any advice on whether the bolts was torqued wrong Maybe the parts with put back together wrong can you help me
When replacing back valve cover gasket remember to get left and right cross over pipe gaskets as well due to that fact that GM won’t let you get to one of the bolts on the rear cover unless you pull the cross over pipe. 07 impala 3.9
Love my 08.. can you make a video on impala oil leaks ? Thank you. The mechanics were going to charge me a fortune for a tune up so,out of protest I raised the engine up in 100 degree weather and gave it the best tune up ever. Love ❤️ your channel .i was born in the 1950’s .
those hard coolant lines are a common failure point for sure. mine rusted out because the freaking dipstick housing rubbed the paint off. my strut tower started to rust because the throttle cable rubbed the paint off. some of the stuff in the engine bay of these cars is bafflingly stupid.
Thanks a lot man it did help me a lot but my rear valve gasket is leaking too and I can’t find a good video is theres a way that you can provide a video sir?
What about an 04 chevy impala 3.4 v6 back valve cover gasket been looking for a video for that do you by chance do a video I seen the front but need the back...
Did you really just change one? 😂💀. People there is another valve cover by the firewall. Don’t think by changing one the other magically repairs itself.Im going to give you a thumbs up but bro.....???
Dude I have been looking through several videos if there’s one for the rear valve cover and all I see is two videos for the front and that’s it, like I need help dude
@@isidraordaz2094 I don't know of any videos but unbolt the 2 motor mounts in the front. That way the engine tilts and remove the alternator and bracket for more access. Once you do that you should be able to see everything else you need to remove to get it done. Its a pain in the butt.
@@king75ts I'll tell you bro if you have a 2006 Chevy Impala you have to take the AC crossover to get to the back rear valve cover man it's actually one bolt you got to take 10 bolts off just to get to that one for the rear valve cover it's behind the alternator bracket it took me about 2 days trying to get by not taking it off but you have to do it at the AC crossovers the one that holds your pulleys on the top good luck
Although i do agree with you. We are used to doing both at the same time. But these are valve cover gasket not head gasket. Definitely would change both head gasket. But the valve cover gasket i can see why he changed one. An save that other valve cover gasket for the back one when it starts leaking. I don't always replace everything in pairs either depend on like wheel hub assembly. If driver going bad then i would just replace that one an so on. Now if im doing my front brakes which most times if i had to replace a wheel bearing i do the brakes as well since they off especially if i haven't replaced them in a while then i would go again an do both hub assembly. But if i just changed the brake pads an still have life out of them then i would just do that on hub assembly.
I wish I knew 1/2 as much as you do. Great instructional video. I have a 2006 Impala 3.9 and from what I was told, I am suppose to remove the intake manifold to replace the ignition coil(coil pack). Is there a way where I can just loosen it enough to get to that last bolt? I can't find any video "anywhere" that shows how to to this!? Would you have any insight on this situation? GOD bless and thanks so much. Awesome video.
What if the coolant line won't come loose from engine, I've tried near everything I can think of. Like some idiot put lock tight on the line before they pushed it back in
2012 Chevy impala does not have this kind of interior structure, so I do not believe this applies. Still gave it a watch and it was well done for whatever years it applies to. I believe 2012+ (maybe) are different from the older years. (Mentioning because title says 2006-2016)
Dan did you record the the rear valve covers by chance? I did the front on mine and was looking for some tips on the rear if you get this soon any tips?
You have to take alternator, pS pump and pulleys off and loosen coolant bracket and coil pack. I changed mines because there was no video for 2009 3.5 v6 impala
It's not that easy. The rear valve cover requires the removal of alot of components. You have to take off the coolant crossover to access the cover. Gm really likes to fuck their customers.
how about the back? the valve cover at the firewall? if you did all that work to free the motor, you should've tilt the motor to the front and do the rear valve cover..... the new gaskets come with two gaskets, one for each side.... geez, remove this video.
Replacing only one gasket is like buying only one shoe, next time just replace BOTH!!!

pro tip : you can watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.

When these are going bad will there be oil on right side of the back of the engine?
Thanks a lot man it did help me a lot but my rear valve gasket is leaking too and I can’t find a good video is theres a way that you can provide a video sir?
A lot of work for a valve cover but great instructional video

Nope you have to remove it to change the coil
great video,straight to the point!
ARE ALL THE ROCKER ARM CYLNDERS IN THE FRONT ONCE YOU TAKE OFF FONT VALVE COVER.
I have an 03 impala. Would it be pretty similar to change the VCG on mine?
Yes, I'd say it would probably be pretty similar.
What did you use to clean off the residue from the old gaskets
I honestly don't know, could have been brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Then used a putty knife to very carefully scrape off any residue.
Is the same gasket the front and the back
do you have a spark plugs video?
Xavier Charles sorry, I do not.
It’s a v6 what about the other side
What about back value cover ?
Where do you get torque specs?
I have a 2008 Saturn VUE 3.5 v6
only doing one side ?
You cheated only did the front one
because that was the only one with a problem.
I cant get the last bolt out on the back cover. Any suggestions?
@@neilwilliams8608 false, it's industry standard to replace both at the same time.

There’s like 4 different sizes bruh
Thanks for that I learned alot from your video
I’m glad it helped you out!

you couldn't get new o rings?
Jroc Pierce there are probably o rings out there. I didn't have any, and didn't want to mess with it.
Jay Money good deal!
Dan did you record the the rear valve covers by chance? I did the front on mine and was looking for some tips on the rear if you get this soon any tips?
Can't get the last bolt out on the back cover. Please help
Well how did it go? Did you get her done or what?
Are you still waiting for a response
How did you get to the one in the back .?
I didn't. It wasn't leaking like the front one was.
You have to take alternator, pS pump and pulleys off and loosen coolant bracket and coil pack. I changed mines because there was no video for 2009 3.5 v6 impala
Yeah check out how to change the oil pan gasket
The upper motor mount to remove it so I have to jack the engine up?
Gabriel Gomez nope.
Think mine is leaking from the back valve cover 😢
Why the hell they want to charge me $2400 for this easy job!
Because people dumb enough to pay it! 😕
It's not that easy. The rear valve cover requires the removal of alot of components. You have to take off the coolant crossover to access the cover. Gm really likes to fuck their customers.
You clearly don't want to do it, you lazy munt
Why didn't you just replace the o ring instead of the lines. They only cost around 2 bucks
