My mum was born in Barnsley but moved to Keighley when she was little. She had 4 sisters, and 2 brothers dotted around Keighley. The only surviving sibling is her brother Bill who lives in Kennedy House block of flats hainworth Lane off Halifax Road.

Such a great voiceover - reminds me of growing up and visiting Keighley regularly where my mum was from. (Just needed brass band backing track!!)

Absolutely fantastic presentation. I was born and brought up in Keighley in the Highfield area and it was lovely to see the place again along with your great explanations. Well done good sir!!

What a wonderful presentation! I lived just off the bottom of Highfield Lane and remember my father coming home from work walking up Albert St. We also used the slipper baths until we moved house. I also remember Ian as a young librarian and loved going to Keighley Library when it had tall wooden bookcases and you spoke quietly.

Born here went to Saint Andrews "National":then Grange middle school, to Oakbank Grammar school "all sadly demolished" we had the second hand shop on Eastparade next to the arcade in the 70s, the council knocked half the street down when they demolished the mill behind Eastparade and Cavendish street ☹️, love you film mate, made my day, lots of good memories bless you for making this

Got to see a picture of my birthplace for the first time; St John's Hospital. I left Keighley in 1968, but a couple of years ago I used Street View on Google Earth to do a bit of a virtual tour. I also have a book, A History of Keighley by Ian Dewhirst 1974.

This was a really good watch, a real nostalgia trip for me and very informative. Thanks for all your time and effort in putting this together. I was born in Keighley at the start of the 60's, but alas, don't think I will be back again as I am now on another continent.

I used to love coming to keighley. My mother’s family come from there and I still have a lot of family over there. Many happy hours in the cavendish with my grandad, the Timmy Taylor’s up braithwaite, the grapes, Rodney, resovoir etc. Used to go to a nightclub. Fun house? Champers? Happy times

MY FIRST JOB WAS AT MORRISONS NEW SUPPERMARKET IN 1969. I REMEMBER THE MECHANICS INSTUTE BURNING DOWN , GOING SHOPPING WITH MY MOTHR IN THE OLD MARKET THEN GOING TO THE CAFE UP THE TOP OF MARKET AND HAVING A LOVELY MEAT PIE DINNER , THEY DONT MAKE THEM LIKE THAT ANYMORE !! I WAS 7 YEARS OLD . HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED FOR THE WORST !! TIMES WHEN EVERY BODY SPOKE TO EACH OTHER , NOT LIKE TODAY ! AND WHEN EVERY FACE WAS WHITE !!

I see you’ve still got the old caps lock problem there, eh Kev? Don’t worry, if you just type faster and use even more exclamation marks it’ll probably just sort itself out.
