  • Have your students mastered the 1st chart except for the trickiest parts? Are they older and by and large already know many of the consonant sounds? Has your class been tapping the 1st chart all together for several weeks and are ready for a change of pace? How did you decide which digraphs and trigraphs to include and which not to?

We picked the most commonly used ones. Since we have multiple charts, teachers/tutors/parents can select the charts that have the skills needed by the children in front of them. The 2nd Chart is meant for older children in upper grades who aren't necessarily struggling readers but may not explicitly know all of the phoneme/grapheme combinations on the chart. It becomes useful for them for spelling.
