so I just decided to keep to a monthly or every other month with about 10 is pages at a time. The story doesn't work with just one page updates and I have a lot to do. So I'll be patient and know that building my audience will take time. I just found your channel about a week ago. Great stuff in the archive.
We do something similar. We give a monthly issue to our patrons, and then everyone else gets a drip fed version that is complied at the end (you can check our tapas to see what that looks like. We get some people that wait for the full post but a lot of people follow page by page. But it's up to you. :) both have their advantages and disadvantages.
I started a comic and its really fun so far even though I'm only on page 7 and it takes me like 5 days to do 2 pages because I'm in school but like it's so near to my heart and yeah
try finding real pictures from movies or shows then trace a skeleton over the images to understand how dynamic posing works. I do that with a lot of pictures, like Ill just draw little stick figure lines over real pictures to understand how it works.
You have the cutest, sweetest laugh ever it's so cute! And also, I have been binge watching videos lately and they're really awesome! Really helped. Also, I'm thinking of starting a web comic with another artist, and I wonder if there is an easy way to send the comic back and forth while keeping the layers intact so we can change and add things in the comic between us if we need it. I don't have photoshop, but I do have krita so if there's some advice you can give on this it's really appreciated :D
I’m prolly really late for this comment but you can try cloud storage like Google Drive/ Dropbox. You can throw the PSD file (for example) as it is on there, share the link, and you can both edit the file! Though make sure you save a back up if anything goes wrong. 💪🏽
This video is amazing like,, I get the whole "AAAA PEOPLE ARE GONNA HATE ME" and you catch me because you're already in the middle of saying I am awesome and can do anything
For a moment I got worried when the previous tip was to just start posting, but you luckily reeled it back in with the most important tip at the end. I gotta share this perfect tip video with all my Web comic friends! ^^
You only need 100 pages done and that's a year of two updates a week. :) That's my starting goal usually... though it gets smaller with each comic we add.
One of the things I’m struggling with in terms of starting my webcomic is the backgrounds. My backgrounds are very detailed and it really throws my schedule off. Do you have any tips regarding that? Anyways I don’t have to hand-draw everything?
A little late to the party, but try 3D. Blender is free and you can just block out any environments you want in it, take a screenshot and then draw over it.
Thanks for making and sharing these, I've been watching your videos and they've been helping me a lot! I've been wanting to make my own webcomic, but have been self-conscious on whether my art was good enough to go ahead. But now I've been finalizing the characters, doing a lot of writing, re-writing, and not so worried about making mistakes. It won't be perfect, but that's okay, it just needs to get started! This really helped my a lot, thanks again!
This was such an encouraging video. I've been working up the courage to start a webcomic I've been thinking about for a while. I'm in the "watch tip videos on RUclips" phase 😅 thank you for the words of encouragement!
Oh boy oh man, I'm gonna do it! I'm straping myself in for a journey of a lifetime. My first comic. This is gonna be terrifying and hopefully awesome, now to stay up until 6am to plan and draw until I passout whew!!
“Cuz bones we did like a psychological, elder god, horror, boys love comic with a tragic main character” Wait a damn minute, that sounds like my comic😂
Heyya ! I got here because I'm looking for tips on how to do comic stuff. You have a really sweet voice ! I've been scared to start my own web comic but after seeing this vid, I'm actually inspired to finally start it. You earned yourself a subscriber ! 💖💖
I am making a webcomic and this helped me so much cause I was like what is my style isn’t good enough what if people think it sucks you know but this helps a lot
Thanks so much for making this video! The most helpful one I've found! I do have a question though; What page proportions should I be using? I've often drawn on 600x780 but that seems really small and I end up using the smallest brush setting. How much bigger should it be/or what would be too big?
Thank you so much I wanted to make a webcomic for such a long time and I think this info is going to push me to just start. Even though I might not be a awesome artist, but I wanna do one I think it will be fun!!😁♥️
How old should you be to start a webcomic, I MUST KNOW!!! (btw i know that in webtoons terms of service it says 13 but i want an actual opinion like whether a comic made by a 13 year old can actually be good or not)
Of course you can make a comic at 13! You will improve your art as your comic progresses even if you don’t believe you’re great at first. I also think spreading your work across multiple sites would help, but you can definitely start, now. It’s much better to make a name for yourself and get people invested in your work while you’re still so young! Do it, and don’t ever stop drawing! 😁
I wrote my first novel at 18 - my advice would be YES DO IT. You may look back and cringe at it several years down the road after your taste and story telling ability have evolved (or you might not - sometimes old art holds up surprisingly well) but taking that first step and proving to yourself that you *can* do something is SO important. And!! You can go back and re-work it down the line if you still really love it but feel like it could use an update. Totally agree with Jazz on this.
A part of me really wants to do all my comics and all the work behind them all myself (im the person in the class who asks the teacher to do the project alone) but also feel like i should get a small team to help but AHHHHHHH
Just start, if you just stress over your art you won't have the motivation to do so. If its your first, Its fine and you'll only improve if you're trying
Um so I just wanted to share my experience, one day in summer I went to my cousin and said, “let’s create a webcomic you do the script and story and I’ll draw it.” And so that’s when it started. Idk why I wanted to make one I just did. And DAMN IS MY ART BETTER. At first It was so stupid looking and stuff but it looked better later. Also my free time is gone unless I watch anime in the background while I draw my webtoon I love my characters I’m happy.
I started my first comic at first when I started though my art was way worse then it is today. I notice I had more engagement vs now idk if it's something wrong with the way I'm telling my story or that Im just not as visable as I use to be 😕. I'm posting on webtoons so I usually give more than 2 pages I do a decent length strip maybe about 30 pages when cut up & I post about twice a month. But lately I'm feeling like it'd be better to do shorter strips for quicker updates but Idk how the audience I already have would react. I just feel seriously unmotivated the decline in engagement is getting to me 😩
What's the best way to find an artist for a webcomic? I genuinely have no chance of 'drawing' / designing my own panels. I'm a writer but me doing images isn't going to happen lol.
I've had this cool fan comic idea for like over a year but no idea even how or where to start with it XD I also have the desire to paint it in watercolor since I suck at digital art XD I'm more of a traditional artist tbh
Mexican ROBOT Animations (i know this is suuuper late and you probably already found it lol) But I believe she uses Clip Studio Paint (also called Manga Studio)
I'm thinking about making a story called "Rokudenashi o korosu hema heddo" and it will have little to no story its about an anarchist bobble head thing who calls out bullshit in the world I had a dream an di have motivation soooo
Hi! I am a aspiring webcomic artist and I would like to know if you need your comic to be copyrighted first before you can publish it online. And if you could check out my comic I would really appreciate it ( You won’t be disappointed I hope) anyways thank you for taking your time for reading and hopefully answering to my comment.
Sadly I'm at a stop gap of it doesn't feel to be good enough quality to post... I have a certain asthetic in mind and I can't match my imagination to what I can actually make ..
hi just noticed at around 3:15 a volume notification came up very like iPad or iPhone, by any chance do you use iPad to draw? If you do well same HIGH FIVE FRIEND!! But anyways what app do u recommend if you do?

@@1DoctorWolf Ooh thanks! That's a good one!
super late but if anybody else is having trouble with this make sure that you use a line of action & keep your drawings loose n full of curves
The entire human body is comprised of C and S curves, do a lot of gesture drawings with loose lines
