This is like really late but it completely depends; if you want to depict a specific scene, yeah go ham with the "oo what's this what is the lore behind this cover" background and things. If it's not that type of story, like it's just a contemporary or a simple romcom, things like the LI's first gift to the MC or the bus stop where the MCs met with a blurry background behind it would work, because that would be the inciting incident and already enough to spark interest
Haha this is precisely the kind of video I needed, I struggle with cover composition! In fact, I often leave it for last because I may not have the feel of the visuals until I've drawn some of it out, then I may go back and say "oh this is what I want". I realized if I wait to figure out my cover, then I'll never get into making the comic! Thanks for sharing! (:
Color draws attention, which is what a cover is supposed to do. You can do it in black and white, but that might make it hard for the cover to do its job.
I love this channel so much great advice that I need and will use so thank you sooo much and you guys are amazing and talents :D wish you guys more success and happiness
Great video, once again. I would actually really like for anyone who reads this to maybe give me feedback on a comic cover I have... I would really appreciate it! It's my first one so I know there's amateur issues with it but id like some help to identify those things! If you wanna... my Insta is my RUclips name
I just looked at it and it's very nice! It seems very clean and well drawn, I really enjoy the placement of the papers and the figure with the math problems inside, the only thing I would say is that the girl looking down seems a little boring? It has a bit of a static feel to it, but overall very nice! Good job!
I looked at it too and I think it's done well. One thing I think could be worked on is how dark everything is which makes separating the background, the character and the word 'Perfect' a little difficult. I'd suggest finding ways to make the character and the title stand out against the background. Good luck!
Boggy Bunny No problem! One path to explore is to look up youtube videos about shading with complementary colors. It could be a way to add a pop to the character :)
My comic cover hurts my eyes its a diagonal gradiant from pink to red with the protagonist and antagonist in a solid color with their fearures and body in white ink and instead of their face its an initial of the title, its really ugly but honestly who cares
"You can't judge a book by its cover."
"Well, actually, you can, and that's the point of covers."
You can't entirely judge a book by it's cover. Just from the out side you can.
Your voice sounds so adorable.
i love when she giggles its the cutest thing😖🖤
@@lisi1878 ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE
"This is why this story is interesting"
But my story isn't interesting.
That sounds like a you problem
For covers, would you recommend backgrounds that clearly depict a recognizable location? Or would you recommend abstract colors and shapes?

I've written a comic and have an artist who drew it. Now considering a cover. That was useful.
This is exactly the video I needed! I've been struggling to come up with ideas for a cover. This helped a lot! Thanks!!
3 years later, still helping. Thank you
Would you suggest making a black and white cover for a black and white comic?
Perhaps instead of it being black and white, and a single extra color to something important on the cover, so you can emphasize it?

Noah rainbow flag OH hHEEEeeELLlL nOoOo
Kinda feel like putting the villian on the cover tbh
