Hi I love your bears!! Just beautiful. I just started quilting and someone asked about a bear. Saw your video and I’m so inspired. I will look for the patterns you mentioned and excited to begin. Thank you for being so informative!!😊
Wow Whitney you made this sew easy. I would of cut the pattern in half or so nd I woukd had to of sewed those together. Thank you for making it a simplified. You rock girl.
Whitney, I know that you are slowing down on posting how to videos, however, I would love for you to help us make the vest for the memory bear. You are awesome, I could not have made my bears without your help. Thanks, Deidre
Hi Whitney. I love your videos. Cld u at all do a tutorial to show how you would sew a bear that had a cardigan button up on the tummy? So taking a cardigan and using the front of it as the bears tummy? Can't find a video on RUclips to demo this. It wld be much appreciated, thank you.
How cute! I love overalls on bears =) I have made several pair and enjoy making them. Love your videos. Honestly, I think I would enjoy watching you sew anything. =) Great video, as always.
Thank for the video... I’ve been trying to figure out how you did this...on to another bear project. I’ve made several bears already and i’m really enjoying myself!!!
No, I only do the front because I don't think I could get all the piecing to match up on the front and back. I'm afraid the misaligned piecing would detract more than it would add.
I wanted sewed shirt for my Pooh project and used clay tubes to create the effect, could use the real one of course, but I am not as good in sewing. soon to get silver button! 4k left! congrats in advance!
I love the overalls idea! I have a question. I have dress shirts that I would like to use as part of the bear body and arms (as opposed to a separate piece of clothing to dress the bear up in). Is it possible (and how would I do it) to make the bear look like he's wearing a long sleeved shirt (paws left uncovered like hands) and a pair of pants? Could the bear body be made with a shirt and pants material and then the legs made out of the pants material? Would love your opinion and how to advice. OH and what about collars from the dress shirts? I have ties that I would love to incorporate if possible. I'm asking a lot and I apologize in advance.
Hi whitney, can you tell me how to make a memory bear from a men's shirt with collar for the bear. I do not know how to make the Collar. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
I totally struggle with the best as well. The written instructions are not very clear to me. Maybe I just have a reading comprehension problem..... Lol .... I dunno
Hi Whitney, I just found your tutorials on memory bears and I just became the volunteer with our local hospice group is Susanville to sew the memory bears when requested. My husband always wears overalls, so I was wanting to make him a bear but I would like to do a pocket in the front, like on the "bibs". Would I just add the pocket after seeing the verb her seam and the Jean straps together? I really think you are doing a terrific job in doing these videos. Thank you.
Yes, once you piece the front together carefully sew a pocket on. It sometimes makes the tummy a little less round, but still cute. Here's pics of some that I made with pockets - facebook.com/pg/WhitneySewsMemories/photos/?tab=album&album_id=903450326528908
Whitney, I really feel so dumb. I am 77 and just started doing bears. never with the overalls. I almost have to have a picture to go by. Could you tell me how many inches you come down to start the overalls. I want to try but I don't want to mess up. Thank you so much.
I don't use the collars personally. But for buttons and pockets I offset them a little so they are easier to work with. You can see examples on my Facebook page. m.facebook.com/WhitneySewsMemories
No, I don't. That would mean lining up additional seams at the sides and shoulder and if not done perfectly will take away from the cute design. So I leave the back as solid pieces.
I was wondering what does the back of this bear look like? Do i need to follow the same overall steps for the back of the pattern as the front? Please let me know. Thanks.
I really like to sew a kind of a wedding dress for a memory bear from a wedding dress, any suggestions? I'm already on my 2nd memory bear, so easy and so cute, thanks for the great tutorial
I will, guess will do the whole body with the silk from underskirt first and than try to find to create the dress, just want to finish first a memory bear out of his suit:)
No, I didn't do the details on the back because if the seams didn't match up at the sides it would be noticable and bother me. Most of the time these bears are sitting on display, so the back isn't seen very often.
I've never made them so the front and back both have overall details. There would be so many points that would need to line up to look nice, so I just stick with the front.
I talk about using clothing, including button ups, in the linked video. But I don't have one incorporating a collar. ruclips.net/video/zVvAims37jA/видео.html
I notice a lot of people asked for the measurement of how far down on the pattern that the tape was put. I think this is a very important question based on the fact that the overalls is going to look weird if they are cut to far down or they are cut to high up. Do we cut from the top of the tape or from the bottom? Is there a reason this question was never answer? If anyone has made this bear and knows the answer to it please respond to this question. PLEASE! When making these bears sometimes we have a limited amount of clothing to work with and can’t afford to make a mistake with loved ones clothing. Thanks
If I forgot to put the measurements in the video or blog post then I don't have them. This video was made years ago and all the bears I made are with the families I made them for. I would recommend marking the pattern and making a test belly like I originally did. If you don't like the placement, adjust and make another practice one. I never recommend cutting into clothing until you know EXACTLY how every piece will be placed and cut.
The back is plan. If the back had also had the overalls design it would have a lot of seams to match up and if they didn't all match it would look messy.
I would love to see how to sew a collar on a bear....I e seen them done recently and would love to have a go xx
Overalls look really cute- would like to see a bear that looks like it's wearing a dress.
Tyfs!
This turned out so cute! Thank you! I was able to do the back same as the front for the pants.
Great job and beautiful neat sewing.❤
Thank you! 😊
OHH Whitney I just love you. What perfect instructions. I can't thank you enough. Sending a big hug. ⭕️❌❤️
Aww thanks! I'm so glad you loved the video!

These are just too cute! Love that you showed how to make them. Happy Sewing! 🌸🦋🌸🌼🐝🌼
I used your method to make the rabbit. Turned out really cute.
So adorable ! ! You are so talented !
Thanks!
Did you sew the back with the straps as well, or plain? Thanks 🙏🏻
I left the back plain so there would be a ton of seams to match up.
Love your tutorials. Can you tell me how long the tape piece is going up and down?
Whitney, I know that you are slowing down on posting how to videos, however, I would love for you to help us make the vest for the memory bear. You are awesome, I could not have made my bears without your help. Thanks, Deidre
I don't plan on doing a tutorial for the vest. I don't make it for my bears because I feel it hides how cute the bear is on it's own.

Whitney your so clever! Love this! So adorable! Thanks for sharing this with us! Will definitely save this video. Keep up the good job👍
Glad you liked the tutorial :)
Omg. Love! I was just about ready to throw away my jeans....not now. Thank you! ❤️
Do you have a pattern or video showing how to make a flat cap for memory bears please. I love your tutorials x
No, I don't have one for that.
Thank you so much I needed to see this
You are so awesome! Thanks for all your videos! Keep them coming, please.
So love this!!! Thank you so much for sharing your talents.

Hello I love all your videos. Do you also do the same for the back of the bear pattern for the jeans
No, I only do the front because I don't think I could get all the piecing to match up on the front and back. I'm afraid the misaligned piecing would detract more than it would add.
What type of marker do you use on the fabric? I've tried disappearing ink and a fabric pencil but they don't work very well.
I believe I was using a regular ink pen in the video
Thank you! Love your videos they are so helpful.
great video and do you step by step written down
What size washi tape did u use?
Love this tutorial just got the pattern from Walmart thanks keep ur good work
Do you have any tips for adding real suspenders to a memory bear? Thanks for your great videos!
I've never tried it, sorry

You could definitely do that, you would just need to test it out and have a separate pattern for the arm and hands.
@@Whitney_Sews Thank you, I have no clue how to do that!
Hi whitney, can you tell me how to make a memory bear from a men's shirt with collar for the bear. I do not know how to make the Collar. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
Could you please do a video working thru the vest that goes along with this bear..
I totally struggle with the best as well. The written instructions are not very clear to me. Maybe I just have a reading comprehension problem..... Lol .... I dunno
Vest! Not best ! Darn spell correct
Hi, Whitney! Thank you for the video. What is name of the white material (fabric) you use with the iron/steamer? Thank you.
Interfacing. The one I used is linked in the video description
Thank you.

Brilliant tutorial Whitney , can I ask do you alter the back pattern piece also?? Thank you 👍🏼
No, I don't. That would mean lining up additional seams at the sides and shoulder and if not done perfectly will take away from the cute design. So I leave the back as solid pieces.
@@Whitney_Sews oh of course, it would be way too fiddly also. I love it ,looks super cute. Thanks for replying so quickly 👍
You are so creative!
Thank you!
Very clever. Thanks for that👍
Brilliant instructor
Thanks for sharing
Do you have a video on making the vest for the memory bear?
No
I was wondering what does the back of this bear look like? Do i need to follow the same overall steps for the back of the pattern as the front? Please let me know. Thanks.
I leave the back plain so there aren't a ton of different seams to line up.
Have you ever used stretch jeans on your memory bears? Just wondering how well they work. Thanks.
I have used everything from t-shirts to jeggings without trouble. As long as you interface them it should be fine
This is fantastic! Thank you!!
Such a great video, I wanna make a bear my first one but question is what Stitch is the best one to use to see it?
Just a regular straight stitch
Thank you hun x
I really like to sew a kind of a wedding dress for a memory bear from a wedding dress, any suggestions? I'm already on my 2nd memory bear, so easy and so cute, thanks for the great tutorial
I haven't made one from a wedding dress, but I know lots of people have. Might try googling it for inspiration. Let me know how it goes :)
I will, guess will do the whole body with the silk from underskirt first and than try to find to create the dress, just want to finish first a memory bear out of his suit:)
I see you did not add suspenders or shirt fabric on the back? I'll post once I make❤I sew love making these.
No, I didn't do the details on the back because if the seams didn't match up at the sides it would be noticable and bother me. Most of the time these bears are sitting on display, so the back isn't seen very often.
How do you add the short buttons keeping the button hole piece?
Can you make the match the front please? I have no clue how I would even make that so they will match all the way around. Thank you
I've never made them so the front and back both have overall details. There would be so many points that would need to line up to look nice, so I just stick with the front.
What weight visible interfacing do you recommend? Thank you
I always use lightweight because it's what I have. But medium would work too if your fabric isn't very heavy
@@Whitney_Sews Thank you☺
Please!! Make a video tutorial on the collared vest.
Do you have a video making a Memory Bear with a collar and button down shirt?
I talk about using clothing, including button ups, in the linked video. But I don't have one incorporating a collar.

Is there a template for the body to make the bear look like they are wearing overalls please, cant seem to find it. X
I explain in the video how to use tape on an existing bear pattern to create this look.
Can you please do a video on weighted memory bears. For length and body weight of a new born baby?
I've never made a weighted bear.
Can you make a simple dress for a memory there?
how do they make the shirt front (buttons) the front of the bear?
so cute
Thank you :)
What is the name of the tape you use for the pattern strap line up?
Washi tape
Cute!
Give list of tool use to make stuffed animals and memory bear
I have an entire series on making memory bears that covers everything.
What does the back of the bear that’s wearing the overalls look like?
The back is plan. If the back had also had the overalls design it would have a lot of seams to match up and if they didn't all match it would look messy.
Have you made a cape for a bear?
No, I haven't
Where can I get the patten plz
How wide is your washi tape please and thanks
Not sure, it is the standard washi tape, so whatever size that is.
How is the back done?
It's left plain so there aren't a ton of extra seams to match up.
hi please design a skirt for girl bear thanks
What size of nose and eyes do you use for your bears?
Sizes and links to the ones I use are in the video description box
