John Denver's worldwide popularity has long been something most Americans have never understood. I was on a business trip to India and was invited to a small social gathering at an Indian colleagues home. He was playing American music to please me, the only American at the party and he showed me one old battered cassette which held the John Denver cassette he was playing most of the time. The only John Denver music he had. He held it like it was a bar of gold or a religious icon it meant that much to him and how Denver's music represented so much of what he wanted to believe which was good about the world. Its not a cliche to say that John Denver is truly missed.
Well…now I’m in tears. This was beautiful. 75,000 people in a packed stadium in Germany of all places singing a John Denver song of all things. Awesome.
This song just goes to show that the song isn’t just about West Virginia, but it’s a metaphor about how at the end of the day, we all have a home, and how we all have a trail that leads back to our roots.

Germans and Americans are like brothers of the same family. They fight brutally over things. But, they reunite over a glass of beer and John Denver songs.
I am Italian and I love this song, every time i hear it, some tears drops from my eyes… when I went in the USA a country band played it in a bar in Utah and I was magnifico!
This would make John Denver smile big and bright. I heard a singer say once, that the best thing for a singer or band is to hear their fans singing their songs right with them. I’d like to think John was there too singing with them.
I wish John Denver was around to see this. He would have loved it. The crowd actually kept on singing after the recording was over and the play was under way.
I wonder if this crowd had any idea they'd be the talk of the US the day after this happened. Everyone I know here in New York was talking about this, football fan or not

That was so cool. In the States all us fans know they play music between the plays and stop when the team comes to the line, so the fans stop singing..... but here they just keep it going, amazing to watch and hear.
You should hear a soccer game. The fans sing/chant the entirety of the game
It is like this before, all thru' and after a Football game in Europe and South America, in particular.
I am in my seventh decade of attending Football in London and we hate The P A System trying to tell us what and when to sing,my friend:)
That is such a cool story hahaha
Well…now I’m in tears. This was beautiful. 75,000 people in a packed stadium in Germany of all places singing a John Denver song of all things. Awesome.
If you don't get chills from this video, is because you're dead inside.
Greetings from NY. Love Munich, just visited back in July. This crowd was stunning. Thank you Munich and thank you Germany. Go Bayern!!!
Have a good one Robert, livebfrim Germany
@@mikemathias1562 you too 🇩🇪🇺🇸
Greetings back from Munich🥰
This song just goes to show that the song isn’t just about West Virginia, but it’s a metaphor about how at the end of the day, we all have a home, and how we all have a trail that leads back to our roots.
Just beautiful!!! Thank you Germany, for having us...... We loved watching the game, with such pleasure from you!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🏈🏈🏈..........
Thank you for coming here
Thanks and greetings from 🇩🇪 to 🇺🇸
At 13 I flew to Stuttgart to see my sister and brother in law. Spent a day or two in other countries and everyone was so nice. But the time I was in Stuttgart I met the most wonderful people in the world. Thank you Germany and your people for making my trip the best I've ever hard,
So come back for another visit 👌Greetings from Munich 👍💯🙋♀️
My niece and her husband was at a bar in Germany and everybody knew the song. They were treated like gold because they like me are from West Virginia.
😊😊😊👍
Stunning atmosphere ❤️🔥
Nice Atmosphere indeed, but pretty much standard for a german first or second division soccer game. Different songs, but support the whole time. 😉
Greetz from Hamburg, Germany.
@@Caelestan But not all Soccer Fans sing together and make party together. In Muinch the fan party starts during the week and of course hours before kickoff in the stadium area and people stay in the stadium after the game and singing together. None of that you will have for soccer games. And another big difference is, that there are no hulligans and other stupid people.
Football fans are family - no matter what team
@@brandytvMUC Well, to be fair, there have been incidents from time to time at NFL and other American sporting events. Some people can get a bit too aggressive after drinking and start to use foul language even when there are children present. Luckily, there are a smal minority...at least at the games I have attended.
@@brandytvMUC 💯👍🤗
This was beautiful. Go humanity go!
❤
One may leave West Virginia, but West Virginia never leaves them.
Even in Munich they know where ALMOST HEAVEN is located.
Cold chills for this WV boy!
I am English/American--but now I am English/German American.
This has gotta be the most American song ever. Beautiful.
John Denver was of German descent. “Country Roads” is sung at every Biergarten during Oktoberfest.
not only when the Oktoberfest is. Its just embedded in German party culture
Yes his father I believe. Many German immigrants settled in Minnesota and Pennsylvania and
Wisconsin where the weather and farming country is most like Germany I think. Germany has come so far in 70 years
This due the funding and help from other country's and the hard work of its people. Now back to its greatness pre ww11.
.
@@russscott552German descent sure..but his dad is an American.
Watch it for the 100th time and still have goose bumps. One of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever seen in a stadium. Football is Family 🏈❤️
Football... Yes..
Eggball... Nope...
It's handball
💯👍🙋♀️
Wow. As an American, all I can say is I wish I'd been in that crowd, singing my heart out with 75,000 other people.
Germans and Americans are like brothers of the same family. They fight brutally over things. But, they reunite over a glass of beer and John Denver songs.
Wow. I didn't know American Football was this popular in Germany. Respect.
I'm a German Cardinals fan and I'm crying after this comment 🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸
@@MaxWUltra after seeing this I’d die for you people. The best fans in the NFL. Love you man. God bless the friendly kind loving German people
Cheers to the stadium crew guy that decided to play this and created one of the greatest/most wholesome moments in NFL history!
I am Italian and I love this song, every time i hear it, some tears drops from my eyes… when I went in the USA a country band played it in a bar in Utah and I was magnifico!
Hey Germans. We fought against each other once. Let us be together now. ❤
To Germany with love from America!!!
Ich war live im Stadion. Es war Gänsehaut pur! Toll!
Which team were you supporting
That will not be forgotten 🏈👍🙋♀️
We need more events like this to bring the world together ✌🏻
God Bless America. We love you and will always be with you. We are proud to call you our Friends. God bless America 🇩🇪♥️🇺🇸 from Germany
Biggest bullshit lie I’ve read all day😂 Europeans hate Americans and the United States, what you guys “love” is the talent the comes from our country💀
@@whereisyourtie they don’t love us in the slightest my guy😂 are you not aware of how horribly Europeans speak of us?
@@whereisyourtie I love Europeans they don’t like us
This would make John Denver smile big and bright. I heard a singer say once, that the best thing for a singer or band is to hear their fans singing their songs right with them. I’d like to think John was there too singing with them.
Hello German friends! This is BEAUTIFUL! With love from Florida!!!
Thank you :) love from Germany :)
Beautiful, seventy thousand + in another country singing John Denver "County Road ". The way we should live and harmoning together on this planet ...
I wish John Denver was around to see this. He would have loved it. The crowd actually kept on singing after the recording was over and the play was under way.
One of my favorite song. Love from India 🌻
It just shows you that music is universal. This is beautiful.
I’m not crying, i’m just bleeding clear from my eyes

I wonder if this crowd had any idea they'd be the talk of the US the day after this happened. Everyone I know here in New York was talking about this, football fan or not
Wow that's great:) greetings from Germany:)
That is so cool. I got messages from friends across the US. They were so excited. Greetings from Munich 😃🙋♀️

My middle name is denver and obviously Named after John denver as my dad was on his security team.. my dad was the guard who looked after his kids whilst he was away singing on tour.... im just grateful I was named after the legend who made country what it is today
This was honestly the best part about the entire 2022 NFL season, and nothing else comes close.
This song is a true folk song, its meaning its feeling transcends boundaries. Not everyone knows West Virginia, but everyone knows the feeling of coming back home no matter what.
Rest In Peace John Denver. You made beautiful music that brings people together, all around the world.
Country Road is awesome! a John Denver great. Thx Germany.
