very helpful, detailed and informative overview. Appreciate it a lot. It answered all of my questions without having to search for reviews and articles about this looper! Thank you!
You have to be the type of player that doesn't mind tinkering around with gear. It's got endless parameters. So plan on a learning curve. Great unit. Thanks Joe, great review. New Sub. 😎T
Thanks so much for your honest review Joe. I was just thinking on buying this for my sons birthday. My son is a genius when putting music together. He blows me away with how he comes up with and creates new music. I’m sure he’ll love it and will figure it out, his other boss, stopped working, not sure but he’s been so bummed not being able to create and play. Thanks again, I’m so glad I checked on here first 👍😊
As a musician who has been playing for 18 years, the RC600 might be the coolest and most useful piece of musical equipment I've ever owned. I love it and I bet your son will, too!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Very helpful! I just got one and was surprised that there's no longer an aux input, which I use constantly with the older Boss models. If I can grapple with dongles and adapters, I think I'll enjoy this. Otherwise, I'll be returning it next week lol. Time to see what happens...
Excellent tips Joe! And yes, it is a mixture of quality and flexibility but is also frustrating. The guitar fx are very GT100 so you're right, they are dated. I use a Line6 Helix and a Marshall amp with mine and a mini pc for music and lights. However, it's a very versatile unit that i use for different setups. I'm thinking of racking both units and just using a behringer fcb1010 😊
If you're still experiencing issue with your pedal caps please know there are much better (and flatter) ones out there! Mine are awesome and work perfectly. I too couldn't otherwise use this pedal way too uncomfortable without them.
Hola, Joe!
Hey, thanks for the tips! I'm trying to figure out of there is an automatic 'ducking' algorithm happening at the inputs...When I sing loud, or play my Handsonic loud, the volume of all the loops duck and come back up again when the vocals or drums are silent again. That sounds like a ducking to me...any ideas? Cheers from Belgium!
Thanks for the rundown mate, had mine a few weeks now and like you say I'm just completely overwhelmed with the possibilities and routing, consumed most of the videos on here mostly before I received it and still trying to fine tune a few different "templates". If you get the time could you do a quick run down of the volume/eq set up you have for your instrument in and outputs 🙏
If he ever did bother to do that, it wouldn't be that helpful because what needs to be EQ'd depends on what you're playing the pedal thru. His needs and conditions will likely be very different to yours. It just takes a lot of tinkering and patience, but trust your own ear, you know what sounds good if you've gotten this far.
My head phone mic does not work with rc 600. I used a mic/phone splitter cable, inserted mic jack to the input 2 in rc 600 and phone jack to phone output on rc 600. No sound comes out. I also inserted the mic input directly into guitar amp, but still no sound comes out. Any insight?
Wish rc 600 had settings to set number of times a loop repeats and I could set the order of tracks in which the tracks plays automatically. Would't it be the next level for looping devices ?
I inserted about 6 layers of paper in the toppers, now it responds every time I press. If it still did not work, cut the bottom part of topper. I cut the bottom part of topper, it did not work, so i inserted some layers of paper in it, it worked.
Dear Joe, is there any output on the unit RC-600, that can send only a click? Or a way how to do it? Most probably you do not need it but imagine, there is a real drummer, that must set a tempo. So either I connect his metronome via mide with the unit or I figure it out, somehow.
Could you please advise if it's possible to run multitracks from this device? For example, I'm a solo artist singing and playing acoustic guitar and I want to run stereo track with prerecorded drums and synths and at the same time want to run click-track for monitoring purposes. So i need to run 2 tracks synchronously and route them to different outputs. Thank you.
Thanks for the great review! Are you able to export your vocals to a PA while your route your guitar to an amp? (Both going through the Rc600 of course)
Hey, you just need different switch caps bro. Get the rubber caps, they work a lot better on Boss pedals. I'm surprised the plastic caps on your other pedal work, because they're so thick? I use the thinner caps because they work better with Boss. The best ones I've found have an aluminum body w/a rubber top to stomp. GL
How do you control the guitar fx patches in your external pedal from rc 600. I want to use different guitar fx with different tracks. I want corresponding input fx patch to a activate when i play differents tracks. How to do that?
Very helpful point of view. I agree, great hardware, too bad Boss gives a middle finger to its users when it comes to user interface or software support.
One small comment - the cheap plastic switch covers are just not high quality, they should absolutely not put marks on your pedals. I would highly recommend the original brand, Barefoot Buttons, which are a bit more expensive but they function as they should and are much bigger diameter than the ones you show here. They never leave marks on a pedal. Thanks for your RC600 video.
After updating the firmware in my RC-600 it got unstable and is now crashing randomly. Usually once in a 1-2 hour session. Factory resets have not fixed the issue. If your RC-600 is working fine, don't update the firmware!
@@talusartist I haven’t yet gotten anything to replace the RC-600, but if I’d do some live looping gig I’d probably make a Ableton Live + Midi footswitch setup for myself. The Headrush Prime looks promising, but is a bit too expensive for me.
Try updating it again and then test record on the FIRST track. It seems that the first action you do after update somehow influences the stability of the device.

There is a 3rd party editor for RC-600 - it doesn't cost much and brings the missing functionality of editing stuff via computer.
Love the ambient in the background❤
Thank you very much Joe! Fantastic explanation very clear and well served! 💚💚💚

Most honest and awesome video I’ve seen on this unit. It motivated me.👍
Glad I could help

Thank you for letting me know about the RC600, I’m now with a go to buying it. 👍😊
You should post ur son’s channel so we can follow him for support. ♥️♥️♥️

Nice and Honest. Love it.
Great review and thoughtful points.

Very helpful video, thanks very much indeed.
Honesty.A wonderful building block.Great video Thank you very much :>)

Yes, you can dedicate an aux out to a click

Yes, it is possible. Lots of outputs w/ routing options

Yes, you can do that. There's a ton of flexibility when it comes to routing.

I wasn't really hung up on the concept of a band, lol

I recommend getting a Morningstar fx midi controller.

Yeah mine is having error codes and not usable live. So sad. Are you happy with a different looper?

Installed the newest 1.3 firmware (2023 Dec) just now. Will report here if the situation got better for me. First 1 hour session went ok at least!
"From Europe"..?? Don't be ashamed of your heritage mate!
