    I bowled once on wood lanes that had not been oiled in years. Use a house ball and rolled from the beginning of the take off area. Rolled across the lane from the left. Had to go to the 4th board from the right gutter before it broke back to the pocket. It was interesting! This was a Nellis AFB Aux Field back in 1979!

    My 2 sons and I have been practicing a lot lately and this past weekend our usual spot was having a wedding. We went to the next place and had out first experience with really dry lanes. We knew something was wrong. I switched to an alley ball and just went for a very straight forward approach. My youngest got frustrated and went with a super emotional approach. My oldest figured out some crazy angles that actually worked. None of us did well. I think we probably would have learned a little more if we had a higher skill level, but we had fun.

    you have pin just above bridge ,without the thumb hole the psa is right near pin ,migration path can go above or below, makes for random reaction ?.

    • @NolanFarms
      @NolanFarms 2 года назад +1

      From my understanding, wouldn’t flare be mostly affected by pulling weight near the pin? For balls intended to work high friction, low flaring drills sound like a rather logical solution.
      On the other side, for anyone with a lesser refined release, getting that close to 0 intermediate diff with a symmetric ball is likely to give inconsistent ball reaction.
      Just my 2 cents

    I'm sorry Packy that didn't look like no oil to me , that was a good lane condition in my centre ! No oil is when you put the ball on the lane and it hooks just past the arrows and if your lucky hits the corner pin .

    "....almost broke my ankle." This is why urethane approaches suck. (They are also knee-killers.) Rosin bags, or cancer dust (talc powder) apparently fix it some. Wood approaches that are well-maintained are best.

I have a Hammer Ocean Vibe (new version), and it's not the greatest on super dry, but it will get job done with some effort if I do my part. We seem to have good oil, ludicrous oil, or Sahara desert dry lanes.
