Pros 1. Music sounds phenomenal from the OST they released. 2. Combat looks fast, kinetic and dynamic. 3. Narrative seems gripping. Ben Starrs voice absolutely commands attention. Reservations/Worries 1. Exploration We’ve seen a little bit of walking segments but considering this isn’t a typical JRPG with chibi’s on top of an overworld I wonder if there will be much to discover or will it be more on rails. If the combat is good enough I don’t mind a hallway simulator but it would definitely make the game feel less like a journey. 2. Quests/Side missions I hope that these don’t feel as dry as what I felt were the bulk of the quests in FF16. I want SQ to feel not only meaningful but to also reward with cool stuff. I want them to feel worth it. I’m super hyped for this game I cant stop thinking about it and the in game shots that are floating around are making me shake like a crack head lol
I agree. I was also captivated by the quality of the trailer and the music but there's one thing that worries me since the team is not a AAA production: the budget. The game has beautiful graphics, music, animations voice actors, and it looks like they're advertising it since I discovered it via a YT ad. What worries me the most is that I could be too short. Still I remain hopeful; if it delivers it's going to be spectacular
It’s crazy how many people saw this trailer and collectively felt that this is the direction that Square should have went in. I love DMC but I’d much prefer a colorful cast of characters that I can customize, rather than air juggling a fodder enemy for however long I can.
I have hyperfixated on this game since I saw the trailer, oh my god! Like, the art direction, the music, and plot hook had me interested, but I was like "meh that's kinda cool" but the moment it was revealed to be turn based, I sat RIGHT UP and PAID ATTENTION! The enemy design looks awesome and the Legend of Dragoon vibes are so strong. I've been waiting for a game like this!
This was the highlight of the xbox showcase for me, as someone who loves turn-based RPGs with action commands it's pretty rare to see one with this level of epic presentation.
Successor to LoD? Hells yea. And your fave FF is IX? I see you are a man of culture (my favorite too). Windmill slammed this one onto the Steam wishlist
The magic key of a final fantasy was to combine turnbased combat with other triple a standards. Like hyperrealistic cinematic graphic style, epic music, super immersive storytelling. For me Clair Obscure is what FF15 should have been. Character scale is in line with FF13. Then there are the FF15 goods like melancholic dramatic theme, dark high fantasy setting. Character design is kinda close as well. And then there is the combat that feels like something that FF13 wasn't able to bring on point. One thing I wish to see is a good minigame. I mean the CEO is a FF8 fan.... Aside from that we now also need the FF9 remake with that scale and turnbased evolution. And 2025 will be a great year. Maybe also DQ12. I've heard it is going forward to a more mature style. Anyway the hype is there.
Expedition 33 huh? It looks great in many ways! But - I'm not a fan of the character designs / models... faces... they look very... ehh... like a... mid - interpretation of Shadow Hearts Too western if you will... so, it's probably not quite for me. Good for france though! They create a lot of impressive media stuff actually.
am i blind? was i the only one to see this is another western style "QTE based turn based rpg"? and from experience, in those games, the QTE timing is the whole balance, with it going to piss easy if you hit the timer always, to borderline impossible if you always miss. now i know some people love it. but for people that have been crying about ff7 remake and 16 being simple button mashing without any strategy, that really makes no sense to me why they would rather take a game style that only cares if you "simon says" every single fight. also, isnt ragon quest, octopath and the bravely already turnbased jrpgs? why arent they the "final fantasy we are waiting" when both the bravely default series is a literal final fantasy game(its the spiritual sequel to ff 4 heroes of light series)?
The thing for me with turn-based is you get to kind of chill, and really enjoy the art, animations, spell effects, music, etc. You can take it all in (even with a timed-hit / QTE style turn-based game). Action RPGs, when just a single character (like a Souls-like or DMC or GoW) - no issues. But when you are controlling multiple characters like in FF7R, it can get a little silly (same reason I dont like Tales games, for the most part). You've got two other characters spells and animations poppin off with particle effects and all this craziness, but i've got my face in a bosses ass mashing with Cloud. I personally just want to be able to see all the cool shit thats happening clearly haha. FF7R and 16 are still great games, I just miss being able to kick back like with OG 7, 9, X, etc. Having the QTE stuff is a nice bridge for people who don't like pure turn-based, too. This looks promising imo, even if its from a western dev (not much faith in those lately outside of Larian and a handful of AA devs like Red Hook or Super Giant). Cheers
@@xWhackoJacko i see it the other way around. to me, action rpgs are far more chill ironically, than qte. because i dont have to worry about hitting the qte EVERY SINGLE TIME. i hate qte. but in an action game i can just pause the game, and in the case of somethign like souls likes where there's no pause, i can just take my time in between runs while siting at a bonfire. also, i dont agree that turn base you can just "chill" , SPECIALLY FF games, as many of them have the ATB system. which is always running(and i never go wait mode when that's a choice). so to me, the remake combat is kinda like a better evolution of the ATB compared to FFXII.
@@xWhackoJacko you cant really turn ATB "off" what you can do is enter "wait mode" which makes the game stop the timer when its the turn of one of your characters. but if you get stopped or even slowed. the enemy atb will still run its course. sometimes allowing them to attack multiple times before you.
Because these ppl dont actually care abt tb combat (not to mention, how extremely basic the combat was in Final fantasy). They simply want AAA production
I love random encounters! 🥹 About this specific game, I'm not overly hyped. I think the JRPG genre should've come much further by now instead of going in reverse in terms of titles launched, quality etc. To me, from what I've seen in this particular game, I think there are too much going on in the scenes of the action. Shaking camera and a lot of shit/effects etc flashing on the screen like some turned based baynetta. I don't like that. Also, fully 3D rendered worlds are rarely big enough to become immersive compared to back in the days when you had a world map to explore. I think final fantasy 15 did a decent job, but at the same time it was too much copy/paste in terms if npcs looking too generic. The world needs to feel alive like in Radiata stroies to be immersive. Especially with todays standard. If you can't pull that off, it's better to go with 3D characters or 2D sprites and pre rendered backgrounds like in final fantasy 7 and aim to get the atmosphere, storyline, exploration, battle system, music right... I prefer beautiful art style over "dark and gritty".
Who knew the Renaissance of turned based jrpgs would be from france? I'm super excited!❤

I wanted to play Dion and Cid so bad in FF16, I know if it was turn based, they would have been playable 😢
@@Jambonlololol yea and they would have totally different combat mechanics with new turn based combos and mechanics. Woww
