The important thing to remember about family feud is that the answers come from audience polls so you have to get into the mind of a 75 year old retiree.
I should certainly hope a 75 year old is retired. It would be rather bleak otherwise.
Makes sense considering this is a game made in 2020 and instead of China, Russia or even the United Kingdom people said Iraq and Iran were all over the news.

Family Feud, 1976: Fun family game to explore the psychology of the average person and if you're in step with it
Family Feud, 2022: 22 minutes of trying to get someone to say penis or nipple
Game Grumps, 2012-2022: 30ish minutes of saying penis and nipple, except it's actually funny.
This is the main reason why I stopped watching family feud. There's a lesser known game show called America Says that has the exact same concept but a) its basically like the original family feud, you know, safe for work, and b) they give you the first letter of each response as well as the general idea of how long it is so its actually a bit easier figure out what the harder answers could be. Also its hosted by John Michael Higgins who is pretty funny to watch.
@@abysslight2490 America Says is a bit weakened for me by the rounds where contestants are encouraged to just say whatever word as fast as they can, and usually they don't even say anything remotely related to the category due to the time crunch

So, in this game... if you don't win by enough points, even if you have ALL the points, it goes into a ONE guess answer that decides everything.
That is the WORST tie-breaking system I've ever seen. Like some guy must have come up with that on the fly 60 years ago and no one bothered to do better.
You need to reach 300 points to win. If nobody gets 300 after Round 4, it goes into Sudden Death.

@@analogicparadox In the actual show, the producers make sure to select a survey that will result in 300 points. In this game, they likely programmed whoever won Sudden Death to automatically win since all the surveys are randomized from the same pool.
It's because they have to keep the show moving. They can't just run a game that ends up twice as long as usual because the two families are stupid and take six or seven rounds to hit 300.
The problem is Dan and Arin are only 2 people and they're playing against an AI that's built to fail so often. Normally there are 4 or 5 different minds on each team, I would imagine it's VERY rare for neither team to be close to 300 points
That "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" by Dan at 38:20 genuinely caught me by surprise and I burst out laughing the same time Arin did. Dan you comedic genius you.

My favorite thing about these kinda of quiz games is that they always have at least one question about “recent times”, and there’s always a mental (or physical) scramble to find out what year the game is from to find out what “recent time” They’re talking about lol

It makes some sense. You think of it as a race to the finish. If no one crosses the line no one wins. The obvious solution is to let the guys with more points just win, but this system works too. It's just kinda weird how there is a casual leisurely vibe to everything when it is a race

The host said, "The winning team needs 300 points," and "Whoever gets the sudden death answer wins this round" (the *round*, not the whole game). So...how in the hell did the other team win the game?!
Likely because, 99% of the time, whoever wins Sudden Death gets to 300, so the game was programmed to award the win to whoever won that.

I seriously doubt that these are actual surveys. There's no way that Gumby is more popular than Shrek in the modern day and the "popular slang terms for an important person" question was very vague and had words I'd never even heard of.

@@Technotoadnotafrog Dan has said in the past that Ross absolutely hates when Arin suggests it, which implies he does it outside of recordings. And since there aren't many vids with Arin and Ross playing competitive games against each other, I'm inclined to believe it's a habit he has. It may be a bit, but it wouldn't annoy his friends if it was just a bit.

Neither team had enough (300) points to qualify for winning yet, so they went to sudden death and the AI won. The points exist in the actual show to determine (partially) how much money people win, so it imitates that but in the virtual game the points are not relevant other than crossing 300 points.
None of the AI players in Ubisoft's game show games are very good.
44:12 dan and arin's low "OHHHHS" made me scream more anger at the fact they completely missed this one.
Man, Arin's "TV is not a furniture" reaction is the same as me when there was this Family Feud question where it was asking "What's your favorite Chinese food?" and the top answer was sushi with more than 80 points.
