@@zergylicious considering the terrible guesses of the AI contestants, I firmly believe that adjusting the difficulty only affects how often you land on lose a turn and bankrupt, and changes literally nothing else. These AIs are guessing W, when 10 more commonly used letters are available, so clearly the AI isn't actually any smarter as you increase the difficulty. So, they make it harder the only way they know how: skewing the RNG against the players in a horrendously unfair fashion. You're not fighting against a smarter AI, you're just fighting worse odds that you're going to get a turn.
"Yeah, I just wanted to-OH COME ON! We're like five minutes into the episode and all I've done is lose two turns!" - That set the tone years ago

Dan crying as he hits lose a turn/bankrupt is probably the reason most of us enjoy this series. Glad to see this episode carry on the tradition.
Honestly, his voice when he's all worked up really gets on my nerves. Not his fault. I think the other compelling thing though is the possibility of bankrupts/lose a turn since the legacy began that way.

The science behind the Arin’s realization is called the Yerkes-Dobson curve! Some stress benefits performance, but there’s a tipping point where it begins to impede performance (picture an upside down U curve). That’s also one of the reasons why it’s much easier to play Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy when at home on your couch instead of on TV where money is at stake.

the "science" in figuring out the answer when there's no pressure is probably related to the fact that your brain will work on problems subconsciously when it's not your main focus. This is why it helps to walk away from a problem youre stuck on. your brain will (mostly likely) figure it out for you, you just need to trust yourself.
So when I can’t figure myself out, I should just give up on my self and it will work out?
@@lazyfoxplays8503 While I appreciate the humor, practically I believe the course of action that would exploit this fun brain function is to shift your focus onto something else that you know you can tangibly accomplish. I've found deep-cleaning my car or a similar small, detail-oriented task works best for me.
I think in this case it's more about the reaction to pressure. I've seen this done deliberately, you can ask people questions in such a way that they're likely to forget the answer, you can make people forget the answers to easy questions.
Look up the video of Billy on the Street's "name a woman" bit. He approached strangers in the street and ask them to name a woman with a sense of manic urgency, and they can't. The sudden, bizarre pressure creates a kind of mental block.
I love how sometimes game grumps will get into deep concepts like this in the comments

I remember my family trips to Nutsmith National Ramp.
It’s much better in the winter when the bushes aren’t so full. Although the cold makes the ramp a bit smaller.

I think the problem this time is that it was a toss-up round (which I’m not sure has ever really used that category) so they didn’t have time to think about it. That, and for once, the wrong answer made complete sense. I didn’t pay attention, either, and also thought that “cut the deck of cards” was right.
He does understand it. He leveled both characters to max level with Suzy.

i think my preference would be 1-2 series (like a zelda game or a VN) depending on how long the game is, then 1-2 episodes of wheel of fortune, 1 week of random one off episodes, a game of monopoly, then back to 1-2 series.

If they were to play any of the Fallout IPs, they would be better off streaming. I can speak for everyone when I say you can get sidetracked so often when you play Fallout. I would recommend they play follow New Vegas and use the wild wasteland trait. It's got tons of references that Dan and Arin will pick up on.
