But can it run Crysis?

LOL I just did that exact same thing
I guess we all need a new monitor
Wait for pg27uqx guys. Even if its more expensive, hopefully the price will drop on this one
@@CyberScapeRides Any idea yet when thats gonna be?
2 years later and it's still the same price, somewhat surprising. Should be able to achieve 4k 144hz in some titles now that Ampere is coming out
It’s wayyy cheaper you can buy the 43 inch version of it now for 1500 I think this version is under 1k like 800 or so
Just purchased 27" for 899€. Using RTX 2080Ti, gonna see if Ampere (3080 or 3090) is worth the buy.
@@apologyze you purchased the XG, not the PG

I'll buy one of those with a pair of 2080Ti for 5000$... or not.
Was looking at this set up then was like...damn, the things I could spend $4500 on.
You dont need 2080ti in sli
Thats the only way to go with this monitor
Pretty much yeah. This monitor is pointless af without one or even 2.
Funny because it's not even a joke.
I wish they had mentioned the fact that this monitor has a built-in fan that can be audible.
Linus: "Glad you mentioned Audible. This video was also brought to you by..."
Do you own one?? Because I own one and those who complain are trying to justify buyers remorse. The fan is not loud. You don't even notice it with headphones or watching videos. It's a small white noisem
I didn't say loud, I said audible.
i dont even notice it
Speaking of Audible...
Let me go sell my kidneys.
Midnight Cravings just 1 should do
You could buy a whole half a gtx 1080 Ti with that
Your kidney's worth 260k dollars. Apparently ur eyes are only worth 1600 dollars tho. Makes sense
Shit i already sold my kidneys you think they would buy a heart?
Midnight Cravings 😂 😂 😂
5 years later and there is still no better monitor
when a monitor cost more than twice what your rig cost that means your rig cant use it to its full potential.
Taylor youngreen not necessarily
My 5 grand rig needs this
@@GodKing804 A so-called "GodKing" says he has a 5 grand PC. Riiiiiiiiiiigggghtt...
@Brandon S Lol you are a straight clueless REEEE
No shit. That's $1000 rig if my math is right. That rig can't even run 144 fps @ 1080p.
I think something is wrong when your monitor costs more then the whole PC
Music for Meditation the g-sync module is custom made. That makes it expensive. And all the other stuff like local dimming and so on
Gysnc itself is a massive tax. Add in thje fact that it's custom you might as well just tag on another 400-500.
Well to be fair, the people buying this monitor are unlikely to have a PC cheaper than it.
Was going to say you would probably need two 1080ti's to push this to it's full potential. Then Ram and a CPU will easily push you past that 2 grand price tag. I wish I had one, or three!
no you would only need one 1080ti to push this monitor to 100% usage.........because any game that isn't new and AAA will run 4k ultra with 800fps lol
Hey Linus, can you hold the price? Maybe you can drop it.
lol
There is no maybe involved in Linus dropping things.

A monitor that is delayed over one year which you can fully use in three years. Great, I definitely need it 😂
Not that I could afford it or the graphic card... 😥
Display technology advances faster than graphics.
Amazing how far we've come. Think, 4K monitors used to be $5,000, and now you can get one for about $300.

Linus: We're talking 3 to 5 years before you could full take advantage of the PG27UQ
Nivdia 2 years later: So check this new 3090 we're selling
This is the result of overclocking your mouse too early
So I guess my 1440P 165hz monitor is fine for now.
Very cool!
Last Survivor If it’s an Asus then I know what you’re talking about. I picked it for my friend when I built his pc. He doesn’t know that much about pcs.
Mr. Pie in the Sky ROG swift pg278Q
That's an affirmative my dude
Yeah, was just talking about that! It should be fine for about 3 or so years before going 4k. Most likely will go ultrawide too!
Can't wait to see this re-reviewed with a 3080/3090!
They should have just advertised it as a 120Hz monitor to avoid all the negative press
Tarek Al-Shawwa well but it's not technically their fault lol
Its display port fault so all negative responses to the dp corp
In theory they could have avoided the bandwith issue with two bonded DP 1.4 ports and two cables to the GPU, just saying.
Like.... Splice it together?
Petri Rush how is it DPs fault? Asus labeled the monitor as 144hz when they knew it would cause the chroma issue and still went with it for marketing purposes when if they just stuck with the ever so slightly more modest 120hz label they would have had a perfect product without all the backlash
i bought a 4k 60hz monitor for $200... Until these GPU's can do 4k better i think this is good for me.
They can do 4k better, specifically at 120Hz and above
For 200?$ talk about bullshit unless it was on sale and it sure as hell wasnt a gaming monitor with a good gtg and response time then or anything else lol
Mike Flores Agree
Eara Soulous glad to hear you know the specs based on price alone, good input bud. Monitor price is constantly changing, it's entirely possible that he got a good 4k monitor for $200.
Eara Soulous many at sub 300 at amazon
I just bought a 17'' dell ultrasharp at goodwill and I love it.
Love that one long hair on Linus' ear shimmering in the light :D
I think premium monitors are an underrated part of the PC gaming setup.
$2000 is obviously extravagant in this case, but even jumping from 1080/60 to 1440/60 is transformative. All your games suddenly pop with extra vividness and detail.
WickedRibbon yes and jumping to this monitor is just as transformative for the HDR capability not the 4k
well on the brightside I dont need to buy hdr monitors for extra premium considering I am color blind
Proctor Productions I can barely run hl2
@alex
God what are you running, a pentium 2?
WickedRibbon 60 fps? Hell no. 1080p 144hz is the bomb

Got myself one of these they are great. Alot of what Linus has said has been updated. the 144htz can now be used with HDR.
Just got mine! So beautiful!
omg the linus from techquickie did this video not tech tips linus
4:2:2 chroma compression(not 4:4:4) and the fan is 2 loud, every review I have seen has pointed it out in both the Acer and the Asus models, also people have reported after overclocking the monitor died and they had to return. Its not worth the $2k.
Nocturnal101 Ravenous why would you need to overclock a monitor?
comes in 120hz and you can overclock til 144hz? because of the 4:2:2, nvidia performance go down by 10% in HDR. crazy
Did you watch the video? You have to overclcok to get 144hz.
also those bezels are hideuos for 2 grand

I've been gaming at 4k for about four years now. I purchased a 2080ti when they released and finally got a GPU that can actually do it. When this monitor released at 2k I really wnated it, but couldn't justify it. Just landed a new one for $999, half the price it was. It's hard to say no at half the original price.
I am about to purchase one and possibly an Nvidia Ampere card when they are released. How do you like the Monitor?
@@trancefreak64 the HDR is incredible. One of the biggest improvements in technology I've seen of the decade. It's fast, colors are great, and having the higher refresh rate is awesome. It makes 4k gaming seem nearly surreal. Some have complained about the fan on the monitor, I have yet to even hear it.
I bought the EVGA RTX 2080ti ftw3 and the PG27UQ and got both wednesday evening. It is an awesome combo. I paid $1269 for mine from Amazon compared to your display, but damn was worth it.

There's desks that cost that much and more too.

I don’t care about this “best gaming monitor ever”, where is the Scrapyard wars Part 2 video?
Definetly going to upgrade to this from my PG27AQ, I'm happy sticking to the 120Hz setting, the thing that bugs me now is having to limit all my games to 60 fps to avoid screen tearing when the frames exceed 60 fps, there's allot of games I still play that vary around the 80-90 fps in 4k
I copped me this at the end of 2019 on sale at micro center, now with a 3080 it's life changing

The king yet to be dethroned is the pg279q.
TJRissi which is better the Q or QZ 🤔
@@Always-Decent they are basically the same thing. Only differences are the QZ is slightly less bright and, from what I have heard, better quality control with the QZ panels when it comes to backlight bleed.
@eli kimball yea, I went with the AORUS (AD27QD)(has amazing reviews everywhere) monitor because of all the quality control issues with Asus.
Wasn't impressed by this tbh. Then again I came from an oled with a near perfect picture quality. A fald, backlit display still has poor blacks and an uneven look. Not worth the money imo.
who the hell thinks a 4k screen at 27in is ok? are you sitting 3 inches from your monitor?
plenty of programs still don't scale to 4k properly...
I dont know any programmes (only some old games) which don't scale at all and I have my 4K 28 inches since 3 Years. Set 150 % or 200 % Scale on Windows and your fine if you want that.
It looks way crispy if it has less inches and more pixels. I think it is better. Who needs big monitor when you are on pc literally 50cm away from your computer?
Scorpion, i have had to help two people with their programs not scaling properly on their tin 17in displays which were 4k for some terrible reason, and windows scaling didn't do anything but distort the UI. plenty of professional programs don't scale properly, and with most of the people i've had to help solve this issue with, i've ended up resorting to just turning the resolution down to 1080p for such a tiny screen, and they never notice the difference aside from their programs now scaling properly.
Hack Delight, this depends how far you sit form your monitor. 2 feet away from it at least is what you need to not give yourself a ton of eye strain.
John Boy, currently just got a 32in 1440p monitor, loving it, feels like a great size for 1440p, just like 27in was a great size for 1080p.
*It depends*
Every linus tech tip video ever
Well not everyone is the same. Use the information presented to make your own choice.
Indeed.
Like everything else in life....get out more ans get shit on for a few weeks, then you'll get why it all depends haha
But they explained all possible outcomes alr already also.
It's a savage monitor, but the stand with three legs does not make much sense.
That's my only con on the monitor. Takes up to much of my desk.
It is of my opinion that no monitor stand matters at all. I own 6 monitors currently and every single one of them is mounted. An unmounted monitor is a sin. There is absolutely no reason not to mount all monitors. I will never ever buy a non-mount-compatible monitor ever. This monitor is mount compatible and therefore the point you bring is is not a factor in the quality of the product.
I'm really glad this monitor exists, the technology has been knocking around a few years now and I'm not surprised Asus sat down and said "Let's put it all together in the same place"
Linus your one hair on your right ear looks beautiful
LMFAO He needs some tweezers if he is going to join the 4k revolution as a youtube personality.
Haha it's the first thing i noticed in the video!
Did you test if this monitor has any issues with BLB as that has been a huge problem in AUO panels recently? It is an IPS so I am sure it is bound to have some BLB. Can you please tell me if it is noticeable at all or maybe anything severe? Thanks a lot.
You wouldn't believe it but I am still amazed by how great this monitor looks in HDR. It even makes my G9 neo 57-in dual 4K look flat. I really need a calibrating tool...
bro still worth in 2024 :O?
Who is here after 3000 series announcement and realising that Linus made the right prediction to the generation of the gpu and year at 7:10 . Got literal goosebumps.
I Still love my X34 Predator!!! 21:9 for life! It's hard to go back to 16:9
Tech Head, it's hard to go back to 144hz. 240hz for life!
Got one straight when it launched. As a casual gamer (Witcher 3, AC Origins, and mostly "classics" such as MW2 and Age of Empires II), pro video editor and movie lover; aaaand jumping from a crap ass 7 year old 1080p 8bit monitor, this feels like heaven. It was time for an upgrade, and what an upgrade.
PS. It still hurts watching my bank account. But whatever.
Torrelles Why why just not buy tv which will destroy this monitor by features and size and use it as monitor for half the price?
For some reasons:
1st -> space in my desk only allows for a 27 inch or smaller monitor. My previous one was 23 inch.
2nd -> response times on color-competitive TV's (such as LGs) sit around the 20ms mark, while this monitor has 4ms.
3rd -> G-Sync!
Torrelles well you can't do anything about first one is legit. But come one do you really think you can see difference between 4ms and 20ms? :) playing witcher or AC origin definitely not going to make any difference to you :) gsync, still finding it more as a gimmick when any real use. Vsync does same thing didint notice any differences :) not arguing what you wasted your money, but I just can't understand how bad is monitor market comparing to tv technologies. Spending thousands to get HDR and some good colours than TV does all that without gimmicks for more than double the price :)
20ms and 4ms is actually a HUGE difference in latency when you are playing games. As someone who plays console games on a TV as well as games on a PC, you can definitely notice the difference. Especially when it comes to reacting quickly to things that happen on-screen. Not to mention the experience with a monitor consistently feels "snappier" than on a TV due to the latency difference. Hell, any competitive player worth their salt will shy away from a panel with more than 6ms of latency.
Another area where TV's don't do so well is in the pixel density department. Sure, you can get a 36" TV for only a small amount more than a high-end 27" monitor, but you'll either have to sit very far away from your desk, or be so up close that you get color distortion at the edges of the panel. Pixel density also goes down the larger you make a screen, so the image on a 27" is going to be sharper than on a 36" of the same resolution. Which, again, is better for computer use since you are sitting at a desk with the display in close proximity.
In short, there are reasons to purchase a monitor over a TV. Mainly because they are more optimal for using with a computer since your sitting within a small distance and are interacting with various things on screen constantly compared to simply viewing a movie on a TV where none of that matters. Different use cases call for different solutions.
PivotRedAce yes, size of TV makes it more pixelated if it is on low res, but having massive screen on your PC which suppport 4k kind of makes games alive. Sorry but lattence it is completely gimmicks, do you have a hawk eyes to see differences in milliseconds? Definitely not, I never seen any difference between TV or Monitor in latency and I seen a lot of monitors and TV, latency, g-sync is nothing else just marketing gimmicks to sell monitors, but in real life it does not give any practical advantage to user. Probably you will feel difference when you have like 500 milliseconds lag or something but between 40, 20 or 4, just please give me a break, there is no difference at all
3 years later it's still praised and has a $800 USD price tag
Thanks for this! I was able to get it for $400
man, he's really good! nailing the subtleties of color encoding and bandwidth takes balls, i mean brains

The most powerful single card, the titan v only averages 70fps on 4k. A waste to get a 144hz 4k monitor if you can't even break 100fps

Why isn’t anyone mentioning this? 4K PC gaming is useless right now, and don’t get me started on my PS4 pro..... I love it but ever use the 4K feature because the enhanced graphics/performance always looks better, even on my 65” 4K Samsung.... Probably cause they’re doing that checkerboard upscale bullshit more than anything. (Not complaining, only fools thought you’d actually get a solid 4K experience with consoles.)
Well you can on Xbox provided you have a QLED Samsung TV to get that sweet sweet Freesync... 🙂

KEEPING MY STREAK GOING!!!
Decided not to blur out your Fortnite username I see. Also, the person buying the tricked out Miata IS the person who would buy this monitor. Huge wings, graphics, underbody lights, etc. don't make the Miata fast. If you want to go fast in a Miata, you need to remove everything that you don't need to drive.
1440p at 144hz for me is still where it's at for PC gaming. Perfectly achievable with mid-to-high end hardware and looks amazing.
You'd have to break the bank for this 4K setup and the depreciation in value will be ridiculous.
I actually just bought the PG27UQ monitor and I really love it. It gives me incredibly crisp colors from multiple angles and the fact that it's adjustable just makes it better for everything I need it for.
I run it at 144Hz on my PC
Intel i7-7800X / GTX 1080 Ti / 32GB of DDR4 2400mhz RAM
It works better than what I had for gaming, but I mostly got it to better accommodate what I need with 3D modeling, video editing, game creation and streaming games at a framerate higher than 30.
I should also mention I easily get 144fps on AAA games. No idea what Linus is talking about, but I run 2 monitors and get 144fps on AAA games with a single 1080Ti
Real question: 8K 240hz G-sync AMOLED 32-inch RGB gaming monitor when??
I am still salty that I missed Dells last oled monitor... They stopped production because it ended up not being financially worth while, but after using my partner's alienware with an oled screen for over a year now... it annoys me to look at my normal monitor.
Amoled? Too shitty.
@@Ellis-rq6oz vs what other in production technology though.
MLED* - OLED is crap for PC usage. Micro LED is the future of panels, not OLED.
OLED* Amoled is only in Samsung phones.

I'LL WAIT FOR YOU STOP YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What, I get a notification for this 5 days later lol
@2:08 The most epic Linus moment probably in history.
That cost 4x as much as my pc
AlexStealsMemes exact same
AlexStealsMemes time to build a better pc?
WHY YOU SO POOOR WTF AAAAAAAAAA
For me 5 times
Dame here
So did Linus dub Goku's voice for TeamFourStar?
"there is alot of video left" editor puts that last haha
what do you think about doing a video using the 3 quadros you have and running some crysis on this monitor?
is there any news on the 32inch 4k 144hz monitor ??
Well, what GPU would you wanna use for it. That's already the biggest problem. You can use more than 1 GPU but at some point after paying 2000$ (the commercialised price) the PC that is going to support that resolution at 144hz it's going to be really pricey and idk if that will be worth it overall. After all the main selling point is the comparably cheap price? Even competitive gaming doesn't require that
You're paying for HDR. "High Dynamic Range" It's an up and coming technology in monitors, that allows a much higher range of colors/contrasts.
Beary Boy PNY GV100 is the best now, what do you need to run?
GTX 1180 Ti
Droop Snoot HDR upcoming? Wtf? Are you joking? Do you know since when HDR exists?
Beary Boy HDR on pc monitors is still technically a new thing for most. While it is standard for many tv's, pc monitors are way behind in that aspect. Most "HDR" labelled monitors can't even hit the VESA standard minimum 400 nits, let alone the 1000 nits of brightness needed to properly display HDR content.
Good idea: I'm going to start using the value of Linus' car for comparison when buying stuff
Hoping to buy this as soon as next gen consoles drop
why can't they make this monitor in 2560x1440? I would pay for that. 4K won't be usable until next gen GPUs. I have an RTX 2080
Nathan White u can still downgrade to 2k when playing that is what i do when i play games that are frames needy
Wow, this is more expensive than my whole 'gaming' set up.
Mine too!
That's because you are too sensible for this channel :p Nah this is for if you have the spare income with nothing else to particularly buy atm.
“More faster”
DID. HE. JUST.
Been using TVs for gaming since 2008. Big screen, comfortable couch. Only thing missing is variable refresh rate, but not for long.
Linus prophecy about the 3-4 year evolve of gfx card dident stack or hold since 2080 ti is out now ;)
