- Welcome to another episode of Books, Books, Books. Today it's a handmade book, based around some gel prints I made with real leaves and meadow grasses, along with some stencils. The prints are on the right hand page of each spread. On the left are complementary pages made with stencils and sprays, and each has some words from one of my PaperArtsy stamp sets of quote collections.

The stencils on the left hand pages are Nosegay and Buds designed by Cecilia Swatton for Stencil Girl. The cobweb in the gel prints is done with Tim Holtz's Shatter Layering Stencil. I used Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics for the gel printing and various Distress sprays for the facing pages. Obviously, I don't have to buy my own stamp sets from PaperArtsy, but all the other products used in this video I bought myself.

I’m so sorry you have shingles. I have struggled with that myself. My husband found a device that holds my iPad over me while I’m in bed. The beauty really does help, doesn’t it? When I can’t stand sitting to craft, I can lie down and watch videos and plan my next creations and plan how to organize my craft room. I love old black and white movies too. Alison really has such a lovely, calming, precious voice, doesn’t she? I listen to and watch her videos over and over. I really hope you feel well very soon. 💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏

What a completely lovely video…almost like going to see a sweet play! Oh I have wished that the human being could move back into spring after their fall and winter seasons! But since, at 74, I still know nothing much, who am I to say that it doesn’t happen!?! 😊💕
I feel very strongly that lives are cyclical - after all the universe recycles all its matter. That's physics, not fairytale! I don't mean I think we get to go back and be ourselves young again, or even another human being, but our atoms make their way back into the universe and get to be part of it in a whole new way (wind, earth, water, spring, summer and all). So happy you enjoyed this poetic flip through.

I needed what you gave today. Words and pictures have been my secret venue for most of my life. Only now trying to be creative with them. Would ABSOLUTELY and GREATLY appreciate if you would do a few minutes of fun with gel prints demonstrations. Blessings!!!
I'm very happy that you enjoyed today's video - thank you. There are already a couple of Few Minutes of Fun working with the gel plate - one with real gypsophila stems, and one with my own wildflower and grasses stamps by PaperArtsy.
I hope that will give you something to go on for now. Layered prints like this would definitely be more than just a FEW minutes of fun... so it needs a bit more planning and a bit more time than I have got available at the moment. But some time in the future, maybe later in the year... I will add it to the list!

I’ve only really “found” you not too long ago but you have moved into a new honored category where I just automatically give a thumbs up and save your video before I even watch it! It's not a definite plan... more of a notion, but I think it's likely to happen one of these days in some form or another. I do already go live each time I'm launching new stamp designs (over on the PaperArtsy People FB group), so I'm fairly used to it by now! I'm so happy you enjoyed it. I understand what you mean about a "mixed" collection of quotes as a stamp set rather than the themed plates, but it would be really, really tough to whittle down which quotes made the cut... I have so many favourites!

This book is gorgeous Alison and it gives my a new idea to make a book (or a booky thing) with my own gelliprints. I can understand that you are afraid that your result for a new gelli work will be less beautiful. But you shouldn't worry about that at all, your skills are great. I also love the prints of that TH spiders web on some of the gelli prints. I should give that a try too, I often forget to use my stencils on the gelli plate. I love spiders webs, even when I am afraid for spiders and hate to have a spiders web in my face when walking through my garden (in fact the spiders web itself in nature is a real work of art too).
It's true, a spider's web is a work of art... especially when covered in droplets of dew - but no, I don't want it caught in my hair or on my face!! So happy you're inspired to go and make one of your "booky things" using your amazing gel prints... I'm sure it will be beautiful.

So inspiring and a wonderful way to create a book. I understand that you used the cards (brilliant idea) but not how you fixed them to the spine! Could you explain this bit please?
Since they were already glued together, the linen ribbon is decorative (and covering things up) rather than functional. If you go to the blogpost linked in the description (and added below), there are how-to details and process photos which might help. When the cards were all glued together, I glued the linen ribbon to the two outer edges, leaving enough slack for it to open and close, and then glued the book boards over the top of that. alisonbomber.blogspot.com/2018/06/meadow-medley.html
