same with the front, sometimes i like to reach through the back of the instrument panel and flip switches and the guy in the backseat almost cant see you do it lol

It's a lot more lenient in VTOL than it is in DCS, it kinda snaps to the aircraft, and there's a lot more room for error, as it's to account for the fact that you don't have physical controls. But that said, not having physical controls makes it a bit more difficult in a different regard, as you need to be good at keeping your hand still as it isn't physically attached to anything.

I suck at piloting, but I'm great at managing things, so being people's WSOs is fantastic for me, I get to do what I'm good at while someone else does the thing they're good at. It's always a blast and I'm glad more and more people are getting into VTOL!
Not sure if anyone has said this but you can set autopilot speed (SPD) on and turn the knob on your speedometer to adjust the desired cruise speed. This is useful when trying to match the speed of the tanker since you can make fine adjustments.

Fun fact, the thermal system in this game means that when you dump chaff you want to also drop engine when it gets close enough to reduce thermal signature on your engines
So I worked with the Wild Weasels stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan from 2018-2021 and our mission over there is pretty much the S.E.A.D. mission you did where an F-16 fly's high and gets locked by SAM sites while the others flying low target the SAMs radar sig to take it out. They have a saying on the wall (that's abbreviated due to profanity) Y.G.B.F.S.M. which is what they responded with when they were told that their mission is to literally be fired at. What really sells it for me is how real to life the pilot movements are, even subtle things like small adjustments as people make themselves more comfortable, incredible! Imagine it in DCS!

I have no clue how the heck you guys can do this without getting sick. Seeing barrel rolls and spinning, even from watching a video, makes my stomach turn.
VR used to make me sick, but I think it was because I wasn't playing games with a smooth framerate. I could play for about 15 minutes, and have to take the headset off before it ruined my day. VTOL VR has never made me sick, as it plays really well. And I think I've gotten more used to VR movement over the years. DCS has also gotten better now that they've gotten multithreading somewhat working
One of the most immersive aspects of the game has to be being able to see the other player and picking up their body language. Seeing someone look and point actually works. The hardest part has been getting a steady hand on the flight stick. I got one of those magnetic controller cups with a ball bearing to snap it to on my arm rest. It really helps, but now I need a chair with longer arm rests or its awkward to use. the desktop is not ideal since it gets in the way of a lot of the MFD buttons.
I seriously recommend trying out the recent T-55 Cold war lobbies where the planes are restricted to fox-1's and AIM-9E's Something interesting about being in planes that only go over Mach when cruising.
Good players tend to make it to the merge in regular bvr, low-tech missiles are just so bad its trivial to dodge them. Low tech can be fun, but I find it just lowers the skill ceiling too much as missiles become so simple to defeat
@@retaxed- Regular BVR missiles are simple defeats too. Low-Tech T-55 is more fun because WVR is more engaging/enjoyable than BVR regardless of tech/era
When I played this mission, it glitched so that right as the flight lead said "mission accomplished, follow me for rtb" he crashed into the side of a mountain and I had to just find my own way home over the mountains lol
i live dead center between a bunch of military bases and have to listen to those fighter jet sounds every day. i remember when i was little 100s of war planes flew over my school it was the coolest thing i had ever seen. the entire sky was just filled with planes. we'd also go to these military bases with my school and drive around old ww2 tanks and other cool things..so it's not all bad.
For anyone having issue controlling the plane with controller in the air (e.g. precission, hand fatigue) I cannot recommend enough the ProtasVR controller holder, costs 40-50 bucks and turns your controller in to a joystick. For me it was a game changer as it allowed me to fly with the same comfort as with physical stick.
Your best friend as a WSO is TGP>SEND GPS. Since you can look at something, and mark it on the map for the second pass. Normally in VTOL VR, you'd be doing this as a task saturated pilot.

Also on the carrier landings, the wires love to break now, Id recommend going 180ish knots and as your about to touch down pitch up to ensure you snag that wire!

This is one of the games, where i realised, that the Oculus touch pro controllers give you a big advantage. I play online with friends sometimes and i am the only one, who can leave the hands on the controls while looking around without the controls getting jittery or complete unresponsive.
At the moment its a little buggy but, there was JUST a full f-14 mod released, I would love to see you guys review it or so some mil sim with that, its also a two seater.
I just had a crazy video about the new plane pop up in my recommended feed. Someone discovered that you can actually access your co-pilot's controls in this, then popped his buddy's ejector seat on him.
5:08 - Yo how ba-dass was this? My mans is dodging missiles, maneuvers the plane to get a lock, actually switches to radar and locks on, fires, dodges another missile, and gets the kill (whilst training).
What i'd love to see is the addition of KC-135's and similar tankers, but flown by other players, have it simulate an actual refueling, have a conversation with the guy helpin you refuel, then do a badass 4.5 turnoff and go back to taking out bad guys, the dream
This DLC is great. I'm really good at flying, but I have a hard time keeping track of everything like missile launches, flying while looking for targets, etc. My buddy is REALLY good at calling out missiles, finding and marking targets, and can think really quickly as to what to do, but isn't the best at actually doing those things. With me as the pilot and him as the RIO, we're able to do what we're both good at. He calls/marks targets, locks radar, calls missiles, and tells me where to go. I do those things so much better than he does, and it's just such a fun experience, easily my favorite VR game to date

I really wanna see more of this. DCS is fun and I want that too but this seems more intense.
It's so much easier to just hop in a plane and go than DCS. Don't get me wrong, I love multi-hour missions, but for work days VTOL is so much better.

The new planes look to be based off of a T-38 talon which is just a 2 seater F-5. Could also be a hybrid of the T-38 and T-45 gausshawk. Great video!!

This plane is actually real, it is called the FA-50 and is made by South Korea. It's a combination of F/A-18 and F-16
absolute best fighter sim out there, it makes sim fighter jet games accessible to the average person.
That thing looks nearly identical to the S. Korean T-50 trainer! hah. Cool! Or the FA-50 equivalent? There are talks of Korea making a carrier variant as they do have a CATOBAR carrier feasibility study going on right now.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
