@lennartcordes7605 Refurbished quest 2. I'm happy with it, I chose it mainly because it can be a standalone headset so I don't have to lug my laptop around.
The most immersive flying experience on VR without question. Butter smooth and made for full VR interaction. And does this for $330 +potato pc (Quest2) instead of needing a high end pc, a 4090, high end HOTAS and high end VR headset.

Just so you know, you can set the GBUs to cycle through GPS targets automatically. So you can set up 3 GPS targets in close proximity, then roll in, pickle 3x and roll out rather than cycling manually. Or, at least, you can on the single-seaters. I haven't tried on the T-55
Drew really needs to make more of those Vtol Vid's there are so good and fun especially when you yourself play the game! Also whatever filter he uses looks amazing that needs to be in game.
I love super realistic and detailed sims, but VTOL is just on another level for sheer VR enjoyment. It's the perfect balance between complexity and keeping things easily accessible for VR use, not to mention how well it runs on systems which would probably give 5fps in DCS in VR.
It cannot be said enough that VTOL is a phenomenal game, and if you have a vr headset and haven't played it yet you are doing yourself a disservice. Please buy this game and play it, help the community grow
The biggest take from all this is having situational awareness. Ok you may have had a few goes at this before taking the newbie through it all but you worked out how to deal with all the threats and he will too. Good training for him. Kudos, you're a natural at this shit. I just wonder how much the military take note of VTOL and DCS to put aircrew through non stop intense decision making high pressure scenarios.

This really almost feels more like how the game should be played anyway. There is a lot to keep straight when trying to fly and operate the weapon systems at the same time. Having a spotter/gunner and a pilot makes a lot more sense.

I'm just glad they decided to implement native multiplayer, because using the multiplayer mod (and its launcher) was kind of a hassle.
This is the kind of game my dad would have been interested in like 16 years ago. Well he was when he tried flight simulator back in the day. Except he never really had time to play so I guess it's pretty luxurious in this modern age to have the ability to make careers off of games like this. Thanks for the cool video!
Easier isnt always better, SEAD mission with squadron, coordinated attacks, drop laser guided bombs and let our apaches guide them on target, buddy lasing, taking down airport, refueling, ... someting like that is only in DCS and maybe BMS falcon. And best part is that in DCS you wont find many kids and thats awesome.
Well, it's an eject lever. It'll do exactly what the name says. But being that it's a game, why not let your intrusive thoughts out. It's not like there are actually consequences. At least then you'll be less likely to enact on your intrusive thoughts in the real world, as long as you remember that there are actual consequences of which some very very bad in the real world. As in, you're either causing millions in damage, or not coming back.
If you want to do this mission in the solo campaign you just have to be really aggressive about it. It's definitely one of the more tough missions to do solo.

I think the first one is just the fly by for show of force, second is the base attack to start the war, and I think this is number 3 to do the SEAD. I can't remember the name of it, but it's one of the default T-55 missions from the campaign that came with the jet.
vtol vr has its own aircraft in a near future setting, each plane fulfills the roles of many famous planes we know, and are often a frankstienian amalgamation of various planes in one.
Others are correct here. The aircraft are "similar" to our actual. Like the F/A-18 I believe they call it the F-26B, there is the F-35 B (STOVL Model) Lightening II modeled as the F-45A, and the AH-64D Apache modeled as the AH-94 (actually more similar to the Comanche in looks) but weapon systems like the Apache. The T-55 trainer is similar to something "like" a T-38 trainer in that it is a 2 seater. But modeled as a F-16 with mirrored controls and weapons systems. Both the T-55 and the AH-94 are the only 2 seat aircraft in the game.
vtol vr is better than dcs (5k+ hours in dcs, mostly f16 but atleast 500 in a10c) I cant be arsed to open edtracker, opentrack, dcs, srs, and the x52 profiler after ive spent 15 minutes reconfiguring my setup for my rudder pedals to fit and have room on my desk for my hotas, to then have to wait a whole ass hour to get to the main menu (its on an nvme), provided it doesnt crash. To then sit waiting for 20+ minutes to load into a server for it to then crash as soon as I spawn in. If I want to play dcs I have to be prepped for 2/3 hours of potential trouble shooting and loading to actually get to play the game. Falcon 4 is better on the loading side of things but its fully negated by the amount of planning I am forced to do before I can even begin to fly, and requires even more external tools. With vtol, just open it and within 5 minutes im in the sky. Better game. Doesnt do the simulation side of things as well as either dcs or falcon, and its not trying to, but atleast im having fun rather than playing with spreadsheets or watching a seemingly infinite loading bar. Ive got friends into flight sims through vtol, i have scared friends away from sims as a genre with dcs and falcon

I can't fly a plane but I can pilot a helicopter and the game is fun just for that too.

Never played VTOL but you two show do some air to air in an F15 together if the aircraft is in the game. Awesome job though 👏
