    You and your locs are beautiful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. :-) I do have a quick question: how do you keep the ends of your locs from drying out. My locs are recovering from me being anemic when i had fibroids removed a few years ago and the ends of my locs thinned out quite bit & became brittle. I'm trying to restore them. Any information you could offer is most appreciated. Thanks. Peace & blessings, Sis.

      +KissOfLyfe Thanks for the compliment! To keep your locs moisturized you should light moisturize your locs daily (use a light moisturizing spray) and oil scalp weekly; adjust this regimen as needed. Feel free to jump start the process by doing a steam or hot oil treatment. Make sure to cover your hair before going to bed. For more info see a loctician for a consultation. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Where did your mom get that bonnet? I've never seen one with that kind of elastic band.

    what are some shampoo's that you use on your clients that can reduce buildup or get rid of fungus?

    • @locyourlocs
      @locyourlocs  8 лет назад

      +Nichole N I do not give specific product advice without seeing a client for a consultation first. However when selecting a shampoo I recommend selecting one that is translucent, clean rinse/residue free (usually means translucent) and antimicrobial (medicinal smell or treats dandruff good indicators). Always make sure to dry your hair under a hood dryer afterwards, that's what really prevents mildew. If you need specific product advice see a loctician for a consultation. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the info. I just don't understand why you're advising to wash hair once a month!!!! 30 days without washing your hair is a really long time!! It's no longer keeping hair clean if it's washed once a month...
    Regards,

      +KR C I'm not sure of your ethnicity but a person's race, hair texture, oil production, and other factors influence how often the hair should be shampooed. Adding in lifestyle, hair style, aesthetics, etc also play a part in deciding how often the hair should be shampooed. So in this video I presented a general rule of thumb for people with straight and kinky hair textures. Keep in mind that this is general advice so some people will need to shampoo more often and if thats the case with you by all means shampoo more often. Just make sure you always dry your hair properly and moisturize. Also keep in mind that because I specialize in repairs & healthy hair a lot of the advice I give will go against most of the "advice" you've heard about locs. So be ready! lol Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Thank you so much for answering! I'm african and I wash once a week and air dry. I make sure I always wash in the morning for my locs to dry completely during the day. Thanks a lot for your tips. I'm ready for your advice :) ;) haha... Great channel! Best regards.

      +KR C Start drying your hair under a hood dryer instead of air drying. Air drying puts your hair at risk of getting mildew. I see at least 1 client a week who has mildew, last week I had 4 client. Think about a towel that doesn't dry all the way, it can get a really funky, sour, heavy smell...thats mildew. If your'e unable to use a hood dryer, use a blow dryer, if that's not possible then make sure you always use an anitmicrobal shampoo that will kill any mildew you may have.
