One thing you didn’t mention was how in January they released a Geonosis Battle Pack. Just a single set, a little tease at what was to come. And that gave people months to collect Clones and build an army before they even knew that an army was needed. And when the sets did come out, people already had at least one battle pack to go along with side them. It was genius

I remember buying both stormtrooper and clone trooper battle packs as a kid and watching a lot of lego star wars commercials on youtube and lego starwars stop motions videos

2013 was kind of a weird year for Star Wars. The year after the Disney acquisition. TCW was cancelled, as was Detours, 1313, 1st Assault and the 3D re-releases of EPS 2-6, and Star Wars products wouldn't have the Disney logo on them for another year. So 2013 was kinda just there for Star Wars.

In the late 2010s the first three waves of the revived Harry Potter line weren’t too far off this. It was a focus on two movies at a time but it still felt like there was some kind of focus and substantial amounts of decade old films could be recreated. Then of course Lego stumbled before the finish line and ever since have focused primarily on the first two movies only occasionally branching out, the same way Lego Star Wars is stuck focusing on the OT, clone wars, and whatever Disney+ wants them to push.
I’ve wanted to get back into Lego Star Wars but there seems to be no real rhyme or reason to it and nothing ever feels complete. Entire scenes like the 2013 wave are a distant memory but even getting a few core items from the films and their main casts is no longer possible. You can get AOTC Obiwan in a great smaller starfighter set but there’s no Anakin or any of the film’s villains. Qui-gon, Anakin, and Maul are all in one package but with Obiwan missing you can’t even have the film’s main duo. I collected from 2008-2010 so I have a lot of clone wars I no longer have interest in and some OT stuff, but trying to get anything satisfactory from the prequels doesn’t seem possible and the sequels are now entirely nonexistent.
