I think someone else has already said this, but I'd love to see some videos about cool and weird Sega Saturn platformers. Playstation's obviously a mainstay of your channel, you had a big spree of N64 stuff a year or two back, a couple of Dreamcast games, but I feel like there's a big Saturn-shaped hole in your content and the system has a lot of really cool stuff!

I think that for your Startropics re-review you could take a page out of your "How Canadian TV Shaped Me" vid and keep the title general enough to warrant more clicks (i.e., without mentioning Startropics in the title).

I can speak of my own experience on this channel.
I'm guilty of immediately clicking on your retro/hidden gem/weird old game videos because you're one of my favorite people to do those, but when it comes to videos of new indie games, I find myself not excited to immediately click on them half the time for some reason, that's on me though.
I guess in a sense I'm not on here to find new games to play, but more to enjoy a fun video on weird games of old. Even if the game is completely new to me, I enjoy the nostalgic vibes those kinds of videos bring.

You can always negotiate to have the ads in the middle or end of videos too, most people don't mind and just skip it in a couple seconds. Just something to think about! RUclips's algorithm is absolutely garbo at doing its job, and that's absolutely dumb. While I haven't personally had the issue of not getting subscription updates from your channel, I'm sure the algorithm's been kinda' poopy for others.
Your content's helped me get through lots of tough times, and I love the way your videos are formatted, so I look forward to the future!
Also, you made me want peanuts.

I've watched a lot of your content in the past, and I won't lie, I've been watching other things for the last year or so. Watching this video though has reminded me how good your content is. I'll definitely be watching the whole backlog I haven't seen in the coming days/weeks! I love what you do, and even if I was away for a while, I'm back now :D

Now that I know there's a John wick bit I need to actually watch the video lol. I love the Garanikor bits shoved into the NitroRad videos.
Also, in a few years NitroRad will look just like H-Bomber guy.

There's a difference between clickbait and making your thumbnails and titles more palatable for a new audience, the content won't change since it is already really solid. But adding a small tagline to each video is a good way of convincing new people to watch your videos.

I really loved the Blue Stinger video! I showed it off to some friends who haven't watched you before and they had a riot with it! Really fun to rewatch, what a crazy game.
Hope that things improve for you in 2024, but it sounds like they have in the small and important ways. I think therapy isn't necessarily for everyone if you've got the right support and the ability to examine your feelings -- you're obviously stressed but no need to beat up on yourself! doesn't do anyone any good and being super critical of yourself isn't required to not sound snobbish or anything like that. eating better even a little bit is great, so is regular activity, feels nice to just go walking
anyway, looking forward to the videos you make this year! the platformers one was fun and well done! your enthusiasm for the games you cover is always a big plus

wow I just realized I've been watching your channel for around 6 years, and I love how you've been so genuine in your videos, always trying to see the best even in the worst games, that basically taught me to look with a more positive eye at games, and I've been way more happier and enjoying way more games since then!
I also can't even count how many amazing games I discovered through this channel, many of which I love and are some of my favorites now, so thank you for that James! Love Nitro Rad and happy birthday!

Aw man I loved that last video, it sucks RUclips decided to screw it over
Edit 1: it’s 100% fair to monetize these update videos, RUclips still shows ads on the videos anyways so not monetizing it doesn’t affect the viewer much unless you pack it with midrolls or something.

Those are some awesome cats! Good to hear you're trying to take a few steps to work on your mental health. Therapy is absolutely good and all (helped me a ton), but it's a long and expensive process. Eating better and exercise are arguably equally important, especially in the long run.

It might be worth making some "compilation" style videos. Like 3d platformer compilations, ect. Whenever I leave RUclips on when I fall asleep, or just have it on, the algorithm definitely shoots those style videos into my feed often. And if I'm sleeping, I'm just going to have the video running all night you know? Might be worth thinking about!
I just watched your Startropics video and am playing through it myself now.

It's because of you that I actually got into/back into some games that I've come to really love and enjoy. I've even got my eye on some older titles because of you. So keep up the good work, and boost those indies, pal.
Also, as someone who just beat Penny's Big Breakaway today, at time of writing, It's really good, it's actually pretty challenging, but it's got that JANK that only devs who worked on Sonic games can do. Game straight up forgets what a hitbox is at the worst times.

I want to say that you're a big inspiration for me, Nitro. I'm studying Creative Media (Film, Magazines, Video games, etc) in college rn and your content combining Filmmaking and Video Game Analysis is genuinely really inspirational, it makes me more gemuinely consider taking something like this as a career in the future.
