  • Join me and the boys as we head back into the duck swamp for some off season HOT work. We start reclaiming the swamp edge and get some more Japanese millet down. Beaver is very active so we decided to go ahead and set a trap. Enjoy!!

    In your tool kit for the duck pond you need a retrac tool. .22 caliber rifle. Much quicker response than a trap when they tease you.

    You are teaching your sons the value of hard work that your father taught you.

    As I've stated before: A lot of hard work will pay off for a great hunting spot for you. Man you've really put the work in on these. We do a lot of weed eating too. I've found some trails that just will not allow for a tractor so we keep them cleaned out with weed eaters. I've also found that it can be a lot of work. Thanks again for sharing!

    Get you a blade attachment for that weed eater and it will make your life easier. Works great on saplings also.

    What kind of rice are you planting in your swamps and would it be too late to start now? I’m located in south eastern nc

      Its an Agricultural Rice. This is Diamond Variety, Rex is good too. Need to get it in the swamp ASAP, 90 day maturing time and need to beat the frost. Still some time left. Can buy it from Triangle Pond Management in Raleigh. Make sure to tell them I sent you

    Army worms are in your rice. They are a pain!

      Oh really !? Will temporary flooding help? Rice has been under water a few days. It’s always something

    Another great update, I really appreciate the duck content as it is my passion. Can you say how long you presoak the rice when planting on dry ground

    • @Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors
      @Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors  Месяц назад

      About 24hrs. I learned if you soak it any more it will really start to germinate and send a tap root down that can be damaged while seeding. 24hrs is all it needs to speed up the process
