    Thank you. I'm so glad RUclips has made it possible for me to demonstrate the technique, since just looking at pictures and reading words can be difficult for some to understand. This way, I'm able to give everyone a private class.

    I'm afraid it can become addicting. I just worked solely with Interlocking Crochet for about 20 years - and I crochet almost everyday!

    I'm just a knitter exploring the world of crochet. Every time I explore I am absolutely amazed at the very depth of creativity with some and a needle or a hook. ☺🌷✌

    your yarn-unders are really unique.

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, I learned a long time ago. But I have noticed that other crocheters change it up also. I do the yarn-over when I have to hold the stitch in the middle of a dc for instance. Other people will do the yarn-under when they are in the middle of a stitch. Either way, it comes out looking fine. Thanks for writing.

    Thanks for writing. I'll be adding more as the months go on. I hope to eventually have all the basic techniques in crocheting in video format so anyone can learn.

    The size can be adjusted by the thickness of the yarn, the hook size used and how many boxes are made. If you know what measurement you need, make your foundation mesh that size and then work with a pattern which will fit into that size. The Zigzag stitch is a good one to use. If you need more info, please ask.

    You definitely could use it for a washcloth. If you want something stronger, I would think using one of the single designs such as Rows would work well for a house cleaning or dishwashing cloth.

    There are 4 steps. Step one is the Introduction, Step 2 Mesh Foundation,
    Step 3 dcib or back stitch and Step 4 dcif or Front stitch. There is a
    close-up of Step 3 also for those who were having trouble seeing the back
    stitch. All the designs work off these stitches.

      Be sure to print the corrections to the book at www.InterlockingCrochet.com. Also, I have a playlist that is a workshop of Interlocking Crochet, plus there are videos that walk you through some of the patterns. This may help with the count.

    Curious why you yarn under rather than yarn over? Is there a specific reason? I know yarn underwing creates a more compact stitch, is this important in interlock crochet?

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  2 года назад

      No. It is just the way I learned and it became more comfortable for me after a hand injury. You can use either method for Interlocking Crochet.

    would you say the sample you are doing is the same size of a basic motif or is it smaller or larger then one? if not will you be able to give me the pattern for one that is the same size to a basic motif please and thank you

    I recently discovered this technique and your patterns. I am in love! I do wonder though why you make a mesh with both colors to begin as opposed to making a mesh with color A and then laying color B chain behind/in front and doing a beginning row of dcif or dcib. Does it have simething to do with double vs single designs?

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  5 лет назад +2

      You definitely can work the way you suggest if that is more comfortable for you. I use the double mesh method to begin because it is easier for me to see the two colors. There is no right or wrong way. Thanks for writing. Be sure to look for new designs at InterlockingCrochet.com.

    I'm excited to try this. what would you do if you wanted to make a blanket

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  7 лет назад

      You experiment with the zigzag design or chose one of the others to make a complete blanket or you could be more adventurous and work panels of various stitches separated by some plain mesh rows. For more ideas and written patterns go to www.InterlockingCrochet.com for free patterns and more designs.

    Wondering if this pattern would make good washcloths?

  • @akakonoha
    @akakonoha 5 лет назад

    Thank you 💗 would you suggest using 4ply yarn for baby blanket? I'm worried it'll not drape well with DK or worsted.

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  5 лет назад +1

      If it will be used as a baby mat on the floor, a heavier yarn will be fine. However, if it is to be used as a baby blanket, the softer the yarn the better. Remember it is like making a double thick fabric so if you have a soft baby yarn that would be best for a baby blanket.

    I’m interested to see that you always seem to yarn under instead of yarn over.

    • @tanisgalik
      @tanisgalik  Месяц назад

      Yes, that is the way I learned. However, there are times like in the middle of a dc where I pause the yarn in a yarn over. If you watch other crocheters you see them alternating the way they pull the yarn through depending on their backgrounds.
      Thanks for writing.
