  • We don't ask much of our fridge, but making ice cubes is one request. Our temperamental fridge decided to stop providing ice cubes and only will produce crushed ice... this takes longer, is louder and not ideal in almost all non snow cone making instances.
    In todays video I go over this problem and show the most simple fix you've ever seen... once you see it! So hit play and lets get this fridge making cubed ice again.

    Thanks, my issue was a little simpler, the front mechanism by the crushing wheels was all jammed up with ice so I cleared the tray out and got the mechanism unjammed and it’s now working well. Think the power cuts we had last year will have caused this. I should have found this sooner. Your video was super helpful thanks again for sharing this.

    Hi thank you for previous info..... in the back of the fridge i was able to defrost where the little lever was but notice it is not clicking up or down. it only stays down. does that mean that piece is broken?

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  2 месяца назад

      I wouldn't say its broken, but it could be stuck. Its possible ice is formed in the upper channel, its almost impossible to see, but if you poke around or CAREFULLY place your finger in that area you'll feel it. I can't stress CAREFULLY because the spring/bar is actually pretty sharp.

  • @camillefasulo7492
    @camillefasulo7492 3 месяца назад +1

    how do you get the bin back in place and make sure it sits correctly in the back?

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  3 месяца назад

      Easiest way I have found is to slightly lift it or lower it depending on what state it's in. Takes some finagling unfortunately.

  • @SwitchBlade180

    My fridge makes cubed ice but there’s a lot of small shards and ice bits that it shoots out… and if my cup or bottle isn’t big enough, then these shards get all over our floor. Do you have that problem, too? And have a solution?

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  5 месяцев назад

      Yes! We had that happen. Look at the chute to make sure there isn't any debris, as well as on the blades (careful here). One last thing is to make sure the overall inside of the ice maker "hallway" doesn't have any foreign objects or blocks of ice in it.

  • @NateWhidden

    It seems with mine, the 'trigger thingie' in the back that goes up and down to switch to and from crushed is not going up and down for me. I cleared out all the ice with my own professional poker, but I'm wondering if there is an ice damn somewhere within jamming it up. looks like mine is just stuck in the down 'always crushed ice' position

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  10 месяцев назад

      It's possible. You could remove the contents and let it melt (door open).

    • @NateWhidden
      @NateWhidden 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@CoderMan that didn't do the trick. Completely melted and dried out, the trigger in the back just doesn't go up and down when I switch from crushed to full ice. Contacted Samsung and it will cost me like $300 minimum to fix, likely more with parts. Guess I'm using crushed ice forever!

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  10 месяцев назад

      @@NateWhidden Dang. Can you manually move the switch? Does that part work? If so its might be the bar is bent. If it doesn't work manually then its probably the fridge logic board or other obstruction upstream.

    • @Saqibss
      @Saqibss 4 месяца назад +1

      If you don’t ever want crushed ice, you can try keep the front flap permanently open, which will allow the cubes to fall out and not pressed into the crushing wheels. For example you might try gluing it open(?), or if you’re really sure just cut it off with a Dremel.

    • @umsanjur

      This was my issue that I fixed with all your help, literally just now. Same issue, I could feel with my finger that it was stuck in down position. Defrosting upward and around the component with steam didn't help. With your comments, was doubtful it was anything internal that I could fix. We also don't use crushed ice. Do this fix instead - Instead of cutting/dremeling off metal bar, I removed the spring and screw at the end. I maneuvered the bar towards and though the front of the tray. You can tell it's the right way to remove as there are these small external notches on the bar that fit the hole like a key where the bar goes through the tray. It was like a brain teaser at the end of the bar where the final part goes through (just take a moment and think it over), but it is able to go through without force. Now the door will never go up. Whole ice cubes again! Thanks guys

    Can you just remove the ice crusher part? I dont ever want crushed ice

    • @CoderMan
      @CoderMan  7 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure that would be possible without damaging the fridge... but I guess anything is possible, if you don't mind voiding warranty and all that fun stuff.
