Lure Making with Vegetable Wood

  • I’ve had these old okra stalks in my backyard since last year and I’ve been really curious if the wood from it would be any good for lure making. My final conclusion is that it’s a pain in the but to work with because the middle is semi hallow. It’s quite buoyant but if you want buoyancy just stick with balsa lol. Hope you enjoy the video.

    An accurate thickness gauge to put your pen on is a PACK OF CARDS, just add or take away the cards from the pack to get your desired thickness. The cards are also excellent to cut your own template's from because they're waterproof and last for age's!

      @@TreysArt Ya must have heard people say....."He's got all the gear but no idea"...well I think I'm the opposite "All ideas but no gear" 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂 Some kind person burnt my shed/greenhouse down last March... Just one big ball of fire when my wife woke me. Lost all my tools and machinery, 40 odd years of collecting them gone in minutes, Found out my insurance only covered household contents😭 now 60 so too late to start over again.
      I think that you're the first person I've told about the cards. But it definitely works and so easy to do.
      Add it in one of your videos, loads of people would thank you and share it with their mate's 👍😷👍

    Okra is related to cotton so that's why its burning, crazy glue will do the same on wool or cotton

    Btw hit up a friend that uses a mig welding machine for .035 or .030 mig wire especially if they have any in stainless steel , thats my go to wire for this application

      I don’t know anyone who welds besides me but I only have a little flux core. I just use precut stainless wire I get from a guy off eBay.

    Hi.
    What is the white powder you use to cover the holes?

    • @TreysArt
      @TreysArt  10 месяцев назад +1

      Baking soda. It hardens instantly when mixed with superglue.

  • @wayned5872
    @wayned5872 Год назад +2

    Great effort, i think ur okra "wood" is too spongy & pourous , might be a good candidate for a pressure pot & epoxy to harden it , this might also make it sink ..just a idea

    • @TreysArt
      @TreysArt  Год назад +2

      Yeah it’s quite porous lol but the superglue actually made it hard as a rock. More pain than it’s worth just stick to balsa if you need the buoyancy 👍🏼
